Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi, I have been using MRF Zapper FY1 (90/80-17) for the front and Zapper Vyde (120/80-17) for the rear since 7000 kms.. They have proved to be very good in all conditions and I would strongly recommend them. I have heard Zapper C is also a good rear tyre. And I feel its better to change tyres as soon as you buy the bike.Originally posted by Sandeep Kh View PostWhich has less vibrations,, 160 or 180 ??? ,,also can you suggest tyres which are best to act as replacement
. will be buying just after clarifying these two points
.
And regarding vibrations, I think it's a bit exaggerated by everyone in case of Apache, I don't know why.. I mean I know they are a bit more than other bikes but not so much.. I own a 2012 RTR 160 and I felt considerable reduction in vibrations after I switched to Shell Advance Ultra engine oil.. Bike feels very smooth once you switch to Shell or Motul, but I suggest you to stick to the recommended TVS oil until the bike has run at least 7000 kms.. Even if you want to continue using recommended oil, just make sure you keep doing oil changes in time..It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Costed me 2000 bucks. Though a bit on the higher side, I din mind after I realised the potential of this tyre.
You wont actually feel that the front end has dropped during normal city ride, but it may feel a little bumpy as the height of side walls are reduced by 9mm. Overall, a very positive experience. I will post snaps asap

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Currently, my setup is srichakra on front and zapper vyde on back.....yesterday enquired about 90/90 r17 at a shop and they quoted me 1700 for Michelin pilot sporty 90/90 and 1800 for mrf zapper fs 90/90.....Pilot sporty thread pattern looked way better than zapper fs.. how was your experience with pilot sporty???Originally posted by Abishek94 View PostCosted me 2000 bucks. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I stay in HSR layout. I get my bike serviced from a local mechanic. You can get the free services done by service centre and then if you are satisfied, continue with same service centre, else its better to find a good mechanic.Originally posted by Sandeep Kh View PostI stay in Bangalore North (Hebbal) and would be buying it shortly...but heard that service center are really poor,, where do you get serviced ???/also can you put some light on riding quality as I have read in forums about problems faced by people who are tall,,,Am just above 6
I can't really comment about seating position for tall people as I am 5'6" tall and no one of your height has ridden my bike..It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I'd recommend staying with a SVC till the warranty period is over. That way, if things go south, you can claim ignorance. If the SVC in your area is not up to the mark, I'd suggest you get your servicing done at another SVC nearby. Or, you could talk to the manager and ask them to resolve the issue. If all this fails, call customer support and lodge a complaint. Twitter works too.Originally posted by Sandeep Kh View PostI stay in Bangalore North (Hebbal) and would be buying it shortly...but heard that service center are really poor,, where do you get serviced ???/also can you put some light on riding quality as I have read in forums about problems faced by people who are tall,,,Am just above 6
I am just over 6 feet. The seating position is not too uncomfortable for me, but it took some time for me to figure out the exact posture / position that was ideal for me on the bike. The handlebars are just about right: there is a slight bend at my elbow, like there is supposed to be. The angle is comfortable as well.
If most of your height is in your legs, then you would find that you can't comfortably hug the tank; the tank-huggers (exact name for them, someone?) scrape your knees constantly. This will get better after some time, because you will have figured out the perfect posture that'll suit you. You can also solve this problem by placing the balls of your feet on the foot-rests. Think of this as a blessing in disguise: you are supposed to ride with the balls of your feet on the foot-rests.
I am not working out, but ride ~100 kms a day: as you'd expect, I am starting to experience lower back pains. Being a rookie, I am constantly, consciously trying to improve my riding posture. I trust that the pains will go away once I manage to lug myself to the gym. Point to take home is this: If you work out properly, and consciously try to keep a good riding posture, the RTR will be an absolute delight!
On second thought, this might just have been because I had virtually no riding experience before my RTR 180 ABS.The seating position is not too uncomfortable for me, but it took some time for me to figure out the exact posture / position that was ideal for me on the bike.
Please also note that everything mentioned here is just one man's opinion. I could be wrong; and if I am, someone should point it out shortly. Welcome to the tribe!

Hey I stay in hebbal too! I bought my rtr from triton tvs near cbi road. Their service ranges from bad to average, but one good thing about them is that they are almost never out of stock on frequently required spares and even small parts like a fuel tank mounting rubber are in stock.
There is a new showroom opening just before mekhri circle, so you can try out their service as well.
P.S: I stopped giving my bike to svc at 17k on the odo. Have done 24k km since
