Renny, i think they are talking abt one way / sprang clutch. not clutch!Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostWhat could be the difference in the design of the clutch in both 160 and 180??
I dont think mere 20CC and 1.73 PS calls for designing an entirely new clutch design for the 180.
I believe it's having the same or slightly modified plates, that's it.07 HH Zma

A sprag clutch in no way contributes/affects the power output of the bike.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostWhat could be the difference in the design of the clutch in both 160 and 180??

Also going by your logic, even the A150 would have the same clutch(?!) design as that of the 160 as the difference is merely 10cc and 1.7ps!!
And in automotive world, even slightly changed part design/specification calls for different part code-tolerance levels-inventory management/supplies and what not...

Sprang clutch has nothing to do with the power, acceleration whatsoever..Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostA sprag clutch in no way contributes/affects the power output of the bike.

A150 was Fiero's engine slightly tweaked.
RTR180 is RTR160 slightly tweaked with diff bore stroke measurements.
A150 and FIERO shared the same clutch plates and i fitted the A150 plates when my FIERO's plates were gone...
RTR180 and RTR160 shares the same clutch plates i think, lemme confirm this with the SC.
And for the info SUZUKI ZEUS clutch plates were direct fit to A150 and FIERO and they perform much better than the TVS ones.
My mech is a local racer and he has FIERO, and he always use the ZUES plates!!!!!The Magician"

That is what i said!!Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostSprang clutch has nothing to do with the power, acceleration whatsoever..

And i am not talking about clutch plates used to engage/disengage gears. It was about one-way clutch/sprag clutch.Last edited by chicane1879; 05-24-2010, 11:25 AM.

Guys.. My bad... I was not talking abt the clutch used to change gears... I meant the One-Way clutch... Actually, the sound the bike made during startup sort of made it clear that something was wrong.. I donno what difference there is from the 160 design..
But in the SVC itself, i saw two 180 s kept there for one way clutch replacement.. There is actually a shortage of that part in all the SVC s in mumbai(due to high demand, i blv!!)Last edited by karkai6; 05-24-2010, 03:54 PM.

My bike is yet to produce such type of sounds. If it happens once, then i will replace it rightaway.
Also this indeed suggests that the part is different in the 180 as the 160s are not affected by it.
