I will be going to take my bike in a few days. A white 180. I have been a follower of this great thread and have been hearing so much about the beast. But while taking the delivery how do i make out that the bike i am choosing does not have any major problems? And how do i know that the bike hasnt been ripped by some guy during a test ride? This will be my first bike so it would be very helpful if you guys could help me out regarding this. ThanksYou can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

ok , First check if the bike is free from scratches ...u cant really tell if ur bike is ripped whn the speedometer is not connected. someone here also suggested that u should look at the tyres (if they r brand new or slightly used).Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostI will be going to take my bike in a few days. if incase the speedometer is connected(it wont be,but just incase), u can check the 0-60 timer , if its less then 9.9s then its been ripped.

And what if it has been ripped and i dont get to know it? Wont it affect the run in and consequently the mileage that i get after the run in?Originally posted by Grafix View Postif incase the speedometer is connected(it wont be,but just incase), u can check the 0-60 timer , if its less then 9.9s then its been ripped. You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

I was lucky to get the bike from their warehouse. It was covered up with bubble wrap, the mirrors, battery, engine oil and brake oil was missing. They got the bike ready in front of me, and even let me be the first to start the bike. Maybe you could ask the dealership to let you pick the bike from their warehouse. That way you won't have to worry about some guy who ripped the bike

You have said it mateOriginally posted by iBerry View PostFollow the TV ad....... and let the bike choose you!

But i need to know one thing. Will it matter too much if the bike has been ripped once or twice by someone? I mean the mileage and performance? You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

I really don't think so, bikes are supposed to be able to handle a lot of stress. Just make sure you choose a fresh piece, dealerships usually keep a demo vehicle for the test rides. I mean so what if you happen to get a bike that has been ripped a few times, it's not like the bike will be like damaged forever. I'm sure once you get it you'll most probably stick to proper running in procedure, maybe that will like offset that "ripping" part. Here, I see riders ripping the hell out of brand new B Kings, CBRs those 09R1s like crazy. But when you read their owners manual it specifically say to keep rpms up and rev freely to 10000rpm max(during running in and then go up to 16000rpm at later stages) and not to ride too slow or the internal moving parts wont set in properly. Not that RTR's have similar running in procedure, but you do have to apply a fair amount of stress to the engine so that everything sets in properly. I, however didn't really keep speeds below 50, I rode at 75 and varied speeds accordingly. The bike's now run about 1900kms and everything is ok. Just make sure you keep it in proper condition, don't let your friends ride it and everything should turn out ok. Hope this help
