I took it to the service center and the supervisor there told me its the disc pads touching the disc plate coz the pads are new and thick now. And he told me its normal. But the sound its making is quite loud and clear while the bike is running at low speeds. Maybe its also there at higher speeds but i cant hear it coz of the throttle noise. So i need to know is it really normal? Has anyone faced this issue? It wasnt there the day i bought the bike. It has started after the first wash.
quite a peculiar problem you're facing...that sound is definitely not normal... dunno abt the wash nor have i faced this problem, but i feel balancing your front wheel may solve the problem...

      • Has anyone here had any problems with the grip level of the TVS tyres on wet or slightly muddy roads? I kinda had a scary moment this morning.... I was riding at around 90kmph and had to ride over about 30meters of slightly muddy road and I totally lost control of the bike. I didn't fall or anything but the bike really hard to control. Then after this I had to ride over a wet part of the road with lots of turns, and the rear started to fishtail in each turn exit. I wasn't leaning much or hanging off the bike, but it seems like the tyres don't seem to perform well on wet roads. I don't have this problem on dry roads. I understand that the Yamaha R15's set of tyres are really good, and I was wondering if it's possible to use them on my RTR. I don't mind the reduction in tyre width as long as they perform well on wet roads.

        • Ofcourse you can replace with r15's tyre ..

But try Pirelli (Shopkeeper assured footrest touch guarantee)...
BTW pirelli tyres are pretty heavy say approx 3-4kg both rear and front and the cost is 3500 approx

If you really wanna change i suggest change both rear and front for better gripping wile riding and braking...

          Hope it helps....

the pads always rubs against the disc, mainly the front, it never rotates freely (i've checked it on million bikes, RTR,PULSARS,R15's,ZMA's, included), that is cuz of the debris, mud particles which get collected in the pads too....
nothing to worry about, but how much you try you'll never get a DRUM brake like free front wheel in a disc clad bike.

Ya you are right and so is the service center guy. Today morning when i cleaned the pads and the disc with water the sound was gone for the first 10 or so kms. And i am loving the bike more with every passing day. BTW it has completed 300 kms. Now should i be ripping it once in a day for better piston seal breaking?
You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

the rear tyre has the puncture and it costed Me Rs 170 to fix it back.the reason he's saying is ,He used the expensive filler to fix the puncture.

yesterday at the service station i observed a strange thing
i put my bike on main stand and engaged the first gear
the clutch was still depressed fully but the rear wheel started rotating, moreover when i revved the engine the speed of rotation of rear wheel increased, is it normal.

^^nowadays i see that once the engine gets warmed up i a m unable to shift to neutral if the engine is running, if i switch off the engine with the kill switch then i can easily shift to neutral.

also nowadays i am facing a lot of cold start problems(in mumbai) or whatever it is i dont know actually. the engine wont start in the morning unless i give it a little throttle. after starting the engine i keep it at 1500 rpm to warm it up for a minute or so but still while running the engine would stop when i disengage the clutch, the ride will not at all be smooth at speeds between 20-40 kmph keeps giving jerks, the exhaust makes phat-phat noise while engine braking,it seems to me to be a problem in the carburetor pilot circuit but how do i get it tuned, where in mumbai can i get it tuned properly or is there a default factory setting, guys please help...

                  • guys,I'm facing this peculiar problem...After riding for while, when I come to a halt in signals, the tacho hangs at around 3k rpm even though I've set idle at 1.4k...on releasing the clutch a bit and pressing it again, the needle comes back to 1.4k...what could be the reason?...I thought the fuel mixture was a little rich and even complained this to the SVC,but they say it's normal due to engine heat(I know it's not)...the odo still reads 250 odd kms...

make the mixture rich by half turns and it will eliminate all the probs you mentioned here...
in winters or in colds the engine demands rich mixture, and make sure you keep it in idle for atleast a min and ride with low throttle for the first 5kms that is keep the RPM below 4000.

Rich mixture wont result in the RPM boost like you mentioned here, i think the routing of the throttle cable needs checking.

thanks...I read somewhere that rich mixture may be the cause and hence thought so.

rich mixture results in constant RPM between the shifts, i.e the RPM wont drop when you'll pull the bike in say 3gear and then shift to fourth...
great for high RPM and speed riding but very irritating in the city driving.

The RTR 180 is true to its code name - Menace.

But the R15 needs the rider to work hard to realize its potential.
