only issue is heating problem.....can i have a oil cooler on my bike....just a thought
dude tell me how u knew that the engine of ur bike after driving it for 5kms getting more hot than say a pulsar 180 or the RTR 160....

heating in the RTR is not an "issue"...
it's an high RPM engine dude,it'll get hot...
stop cribbing about it and getting this outta this world thoughts of installing an oil cooler....

go to the 'mandir' and break a 'nariyal' thr for this god 32-50 efficiency you're getting that too in 6-7k range....

It has nothing to do with cooling efficiency actually. As the engine gets hotter, components expand, hence the added noise. No amount of forced cooling with bring the temperature down to a level that the noise subsides. We all experience the noise and vibes with our rtrs, both 160 and 180 and it is a characteristic of the engine design. (there i said it!)

          • My Experience !!!

Today at 3.45 pm I got ready to go to tution. I left at 3.50 pm and after about 1 km when I tried to shift the gear to 4th ... WhoLaaa ... WHERE'S THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER ? I didn't panic at all, switched off the bike, took it to the corner of the road and found that the lever had come out of the socket which attaches to the gear assembly inside. Phew ! A sign of relief ran all over my face as I used the toolkit and put the lever back into socket and tightened the nut. It was all because of a loose nut . All fine now and I am back into running-in procedure
Done 250 kms (started driving this Tuesday and all my runs have been inside the city).

Thanks for clearing my misconception.....since i feel like that i wrote it.....

The fact about expansion of parts i didn't know....and since i earlier own a splendor it didn't had any heating problems....i know its 100cc..i was not used to it

Since it is it's characteristics then no worries....then i must start ripping at higher rpms.....

Suggest me engine oil for next change......Thanks...n always keep guiding

I tested this yesterday on my way home from office... (at 1AM)... the speed at 5k in 5th is between 65 and 70... mostly nearer to your figure of 68.... Cheers...

                    • Continue engine braking or use disc brakes ???

as I am about to finish runin' of my bike i want to ask about engine braking... I was told here at xBhp to use engine braking quite often than usual braking in runin period of my bike...
should i continue engine braking or not? i've read somewhere (not @ xBhp) that 'excess of engine braking damages internal engine parts'...is it true???

first of all thanks for taking me out my crib n showing outside world.

Actually i hadn't any background of high capacity bike.....this is my first one....earlier i own a HH splendor......n as u say....i will surely try out pulsar 180 or rtr160 in case of heating.....i had ride of it earlier but i was not concerning the heat.....must be same there...

N talking about mileage.....may be i didnt write it properly...it was minimum 32 and maximum 50 i got.......if u consider average of my total 1300km i got 42kmph .....n surely i will going to mandir n break nariyal since i am a spiritual some what.

hey anyways thanks for d info man.....may be i am little bit extraaa worried about my bike......i will rip it upto 9k -10k mark....n give u updates about mileage.....thanks again.....n keep guiding me.

Go to the dealer and ONE-TIGHT-SLAP someone for not doing the PDI properly

Take it easy, sure, go throughout the rpm range, once the bike has warmed up properly, a quick run all the way to 120 or so and then stop to cool down the engine for 5 mins. But i don't know your definition of ripping, so it's very important not to overstress and overheat the engine.

After 1000 kms upgrade to a good fully synthetic oil like sprinta or motul. stay away from car oils.

As granny would say, excess of anything is bad!

use single gear downshifts combined with proper braking technique to slow/stop/corner the bike. The massive 270mm front disc is there for a reason, use it!

wrt, running in, that's one of the best things i liked about the mototune method. he suggested running it all the way to the redline and then using engine compression when slowing down the bike. that ensures proper mating of the rings and cylinder bore.
