I'm planning to get the RTR 180 in a couple of weeks. Went for a test ride and found it satisfying. The only thing i want to know is how it is for long rides cause i'm used to going for long rides often. The guys who've already got the bike and done some long rides in it plz tell me do u get any kind of back pain after ur ride, cause i heard some people say it pains when taken for a long ride.... Thnx in advance.
This bike is not a tourer, It's meant for city riding
Gives me back pain and wrist too if rode extensively long time.
Don't go for it if you are going to use it only for touring.

But one thing I must say its got best handling and braking.
      I haven't rode RTR 160 though!

Hey Jacob, That's real good for Kerala RTR owners. But why don't you help others here, poor guys like me, who owned a 160. We need the RTR 160 SERVICE MANUAL, which you or your service center may have. The main manual was for RTR 160, for Fi & 180 there is two update book is avaliable. We need the first book. So please check if you can arrange that for us here.

            What you say guys?

              • After Getting My Bike Back after gasket replaced ,When I take the Bike to Speed above 70kmph ,there is this "tick tick" like sound coming as if the Bike is Experiencing Knocking. This Happens If I twist the throttle Fully in First Gear as well.Any Idea what is Happening?Shall I ignore this Noise? It is NOT from Tappets.I believe it is Piston Rings making this noise.Earlier also faced this problem. Is it due to tighter tappets?will it damage piston rings? Is it has to do with slow speed(idle) being low ,set by TVS Service?
                Hope Someone here knows this.

That noise should be from tappet only. Else, maybe something is loose near the engine. Nothing to do with idle speed. Anyways, maybe others can answer better.

                  • @abhijeet:Well ,tell me is this Normal:
I was cruising at 65kmph at around 4.8K rpm(where vibrations stops) on My RTR180 and Suddenly I want to Overtake some vehicle or such a scenario.I twist the throttle for more power.Yes ,power is there ,Bike Pulls fast to 70-75kmph and during that Time ,I can hear the "tik tik" or "ning ning"(णिंग णिंग) sound(I don't know how to express it!) Till I accelerate with a good amount of throttle.remember ,I know the tappet sound.this does not nowhere resembles it.
I can give a similar sound ,Ride Your bike in top gear in slow speeds(30-35kmph) and when you try to accelerate ,there is this knocking sound(ning ning or ..whatever!).I was telling that Although at speeds of 70kmph I am hearing this weird knocking like Noise.I think @onlinesatish already discussed about this in RTR160 IIRC.Any Idea?

Ok. got it. So, it does not SEEM to pull smoothly. Maybe, something is loose outside the engine. When the A180 pulls, it vibrates slightly. Maybe that causes something else to vibrate too. Have you fixed any engine guard underneath? Those tends to vibrate too. Else, maybe its really the engine knocking slightly. That can be due to carb settings too. Or else, the tappets may be slightly loose. Really, its difficult to say from here!

Oh yeah, my friend has the same in his A160. He insists that it is tappets, but I know it is not, since the tappet sound is very evident in idling itself. I am very well acquainted with the tappets sound from my older TVS bike.
I guess it is some loose body part around the engine, need to observe more carefully though.

Definitely not tappet sound.Tappet Noise is Now reduced a lot after tappet adjustment.I think this sound is like what you hear when Engine is knocking. This does not happen in case of picking up speed slowly. It comes from inside Engine. Is it Valves Chattering?Just a guess.
@abhijeet:RTR180 got a Engine protector. But it is not the source of this noise.

@REVZ RACING:They will not give workshop/parts manual.these are supposedly not given.Only some liberal minds shares it.

Yup, that's engine knocking.Even i experienced whenever i crossed 100km/hr.At full throttle clip, the sound becomes continous. Switched to Xtra-premium petrol to see if the sound has subdued or not.Havent checked the bike after that. Will check it over this weekend.

                              Probable Reasons for the noise:
                              (i) Lean Carb Setting
                              (ii) Air filter Blockage
                              (iii) Fuel quality

                              • ^That I will have to check with service centre.thanks for the tips.
May I know whether continued riding with knocking harms the Engine? In My Bike's case, when I reduced a little throttle ,the sound was gone.
Lean carb setting- As in Idle rpm?I think fuel-air screw is not messed till now by Service guys.

Another Doubt is ,Few days back TVS service adjusted Tappets/Valves.I Think If tappets are tight ,there will be this knocking sound ,right?
