Even i had the thud sound cming from the forks. it was taken care in my 1st servicing after i complained.Originally posted by prakash_mvpa View PostI left My RTR180 at Cochin Motors for Service. They are still insisting that "Thud" Sound comes due to front Mudguard making the noise and front forks are OK.Well ,I cannot completely dispel their claims ,since I took test ride of Another RTR180 and it also makes that "Thud" Sound. But ,Here in Muvattupuzha ,Local Service Centre Figured out it is the Front Shock's "Pump" making the Noise.Finger crossed.I will get the Bike Tomorrow.
Another Work is ,Adjusting Tappets(Valve Clearance) and Fixing that Slight Oil leak with Most Probably a New Gasket.
Can Someone Share TVS Motors Customer Support email Id? I will ,anyways shoot a mail to them ,since it is totally unexpected for New RTR180s Coming with This "Thud" Noise while Riding through bad surfaced Roads.

Dude, why don't you ask them to remove the mudguard there itself and prove it to you?Originally posted by prakash_mvpa View Post^What did they do?In My case ,they are confusing Me with the sound is coming from front mudguards while Another TVS Service Centre points out that it is from Front shocks "pump".Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

i heard a very strange noise last sunday(like engine was choking )took it to svc. mech said it is due to loose bolts , he tightened them . bikes back to normal.
i suggest u guys to get all the bolts tightened.

Hi guys,
I'm planning to get the RTR 180 in a couple of weeks. Went for a test ride and found it satisfying. The only thing i want to know is how it is for long rides cause i'm used to going for long rides often. The guys who've already got the bike and done some long rides in it plz tell me do u get any kind of back pain after ur ride, cause i heard some people say it pains when taken for a long ride.... Thnx in advance.Young riders pick a destination and go, Old riders pick a direction and go !
My best trip till date:http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/2...uke-390-a.html

i rode a friend's rtr FI from b'lore to coorg once, and found the seating position to be not really very comfortable: you have to keep taking stretch-out breaks at least every hour or so.
as a tourer, even Overdrive magazine rated the a180 way below the Karizma R, 220 dtsi and even the R15

My RTR180 is returned after service
There is an Update.I got My Bike Back yesterday(10/10/2009).I have complained with TVS Customer Care regarding this Sound.I got a mail as response within 1 hour or so.I got a call from Mr.Pichaiyah who said He will resolve the Issue by Sending TVS Engineer There at Cochin Motors.
Anyways ,They have done Fork Overhauling and Now the "Thud" Sound Which used to Come at every speed breakers is gone(As of Now).If I Ride fast through real bad Gutters, there is that "Thud" Sound ,But it is Milder Now.
There was a Very Slight Oil Leak near O-ring(Tappet Cover). They Replaced Gasket and Tappet/Valve Clearance adjusted.
As of Now ,Things are Going Good.
The Service Manager of Cochin Motors Mr.Ramesh ,He claims this "Thud" Sound issue is due to a difference in length of the springs in front shock absorbers. Some RTR180's have it as shorter;while Mine included have longer spring and travel length.I cannot vouch for his Story though. This Mr.Ramesh is the same fellow Who claimed "Thud" sound is due to Mudguard making the Noise. While TVS Customer Care Intervened ,He Did this Fork Overhauling.
Let Me Ride it For Few days to Verify.

I just did a LEH trip on my RTR 180. THe bike isnt as comfortable as a zma for long touring. No problem for short tours at all, especially if you have good ghats.Originally posted by shelton_jh View PostHi guys,
