  • why mineral oils

    BTW, can someone tell me why the preference for mineral oils ? I am a first time biker, a bit eager to learn as well. But I am a bit confused. I thought the "highly engineered " synthetics must be better.

      @johnjojo08: Are those Mineral Oils?

      PS:AnyOne Knows Can We Buy Engine Oil Of Our Choice During Free Services?

      I think they are mineral oils.. Other option available is Honda 20-40 Engine oil. That is used in Unicorn. I don't know whether it will be competent product for RTR 180.

Hope I can make a trip down to the TVS tracks and catch a glimpse still. BTW can you just hand around to learn the tips on racing ? What all goes on in the ARE event ? Just curious.

                Oils
                Just continuing the thread on the oil bits. Here is a nice article on oils. It does bust a few urban legends.

                What is the spec for oil in RTR 180, the manual only says use TVS tru 4t , which is lame. I guess it must be 20W-40. Does anyone know the TVS recommendations for RTR 180

                          • guys help me
                            after first servicing they hav set the idle rpm to 800
                            when i start the bike in the morning the engine runs like it is low on petrol like it is missing sparks,it may be because of cold engine but it is the same even after running 3-4 kms. is it the same with all you guys
                            also advice for how long should the bike be kept to warm up in the morning.

                            also another thing when i start my bike in the morning the engine is barely thriving at 800 rpm but as soon as i open the choke it dies,but if i give throttle upto 2k rpm and then open the choke then engine climbs to 3k rpm and stays there even after closing the throttle...
                            YOUR BIKE'S KEY IS THE SMALLEST THING THAT GIVES YOU THE POWER OF "X"BHP

                              Set it to 1300rpm when engine is hot. It is harmful to run any engine at lower than idle speed.
                              Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

                              • This is what many service centres does.What they say is start with pulling throttle as well.But ,Ask to Tune in 1400rpm(+ or - 50) When Engine is Hot with Head Lights ON.

                                ^Hope I am Correct.
