Hearty Congrats Ishan. Welcome to the tribe.
Guys the Pearl yellow is back albeit in 160 version. Stickering theme is similar to current 160 theme.
    Cheers...

So for the abs I start my bike then turn it off and restart my bike ride and slam in the brakes and wait for some seconds and ride normal??
      Switch on the bike
      Switch off abs,
      Switch it on,
Start riding when you reach 10kmph slamm both your brakes (be careful)
      Stop,
Wait for the abs to recalibrate for 10 to 20 seconds
      Start riding and check
Otherwise only svc can solve it if this dosent do the trick

        hello guys
        having problem with the speedo
it turns on and off automatically, except speedometer every other electrical is working fine.
I had opened the headlight assembly, to look for a losse joint but every plug seems to be tight enough.
Had noticed one open plug (look at the image the red one) :

        what purpose does it serve?

        Wanted to ask one more thing;
        First gear 2.917Second gear 1.857
        Third gear 1.333
        Fourth gear 1.050
        Fifth gear 0.880
        Primary reduction 3.095
        Secondary reduction 3.286

in the given data what is primary reduction
is secondary reduction the one that is offered by the chain set.

i thought primary reduction the one offered by the selected gear but this data tells a different story.

Hi all Apacheians...finally got my membership approved..so thought of letting myself into this group.

I was following this group from long time and had in mind to but the Beast, so finally i took the dive and got myself a White Apache 180 ABS from AK TVS, Delhi in May.

Driven it 900Kms till today and got it's first service done at GS TVS, Ghaziabad. The mechanic there did some setting to the air-fuel mixture via a screw and the bike started to make "phat-phat" sound from the silencer whenever i released the accelerator. One fine day i thought to give bike a spin and took it till 85kmph and damn it stated to give up as fuel has finished and stopped. I tried to give it a start but it won't start. I touched the engine and it was boiling hot, then waited under a tree for 30 minutes and then the bike started but it acted like fuel had finished, reached office at 30kmph :-(.
I checked on net and found out that the mechanic had tuned it way lean so, i myself opened up the screw half a turn and every thing came back as new. Hope i did that correctly.

Hoping to get oil change at 1000Kms.

            Congratulations!
Pics if possible please and oil filter!
And check spark plus to know if it was lean,
You gave up tvs tyres or with abs it hardly matters?
Also even though it has abs it still slides on hard cornering eith the Crappy tyres right? What if the abs owners corner with the rear brake a little depressed, as soon as the bike starts to slip wont the abs unit slap on the rakes and slow it down slowly to prevent slipping? Obviously thers is no electronic stability control but can the abs be tricked this way?
Im sorry if its a stupid question, nobody try this please. Its not safel

Thanks buddy...will post some pics soon.
The oil filter was changed in first service the air filter is stock. From the day I have made it less lean I hear that phat phat sound from silencer when releasing the accelerater very rarely.
Yep the crappy tvs tires were tossed away and I got MRF Vyde on rear and Ralco on front.
ABS works like a dream amazing technology..it saved me a couple of times already.
ABS will only help in wheel locking not slipping due to extreme cornering or due to crappy tyres.

Generally I do the oil & filter change by myself as the TVS service guys refrain from using any other oil (shell AX7) except TVS true4. last time due to lack of time I had to do it from a road side mechanic & as it had to be he slipped the drain bolt (I know it has a odd position). So this time had to get a new drain bolt from the authorised service for around Rs70. Came to know that the new generation RTR comes with a different bolt (mine is an old 180). To remove the old bolt filled some fine dry mud in the box spanner & rotated the bolt to remove it without any fuss. Changed the oil, fixed the new drain bolt, new oil filter & the bike is running smoothly as ever.

                  Finally got my membership approved.

I got my new Apache 180 this May in gurgaon after 25 days of wait, where I had to eventually get the North Sales of tvs involved.
Already done1600km and 1st servicing done. I am followed the best suggestion from this thread and never ventured beyond 50km/h in first runnin. Post 1000km made a 103km/hr top speed.
My air fuel ratio is set such that I get 1.2 rpm in cold start.
                  I have the following issues
                  1) In first run I got a mileage of 61.2km/l (i calculated it thrice to make sure and this result freaked me out). Take this, I bought my bike got the petrol filled in and even before I hit reserve fuel, I had reached for my first service. Second fill gave me 54km/l but again too high for 180 Apache. And this is freaking me out. My bike runs normal and in this 40 days I have already done 1600 km with 60% of highway drive and my 4th fuelling on this bike is still to be done. In all case I never top filled my bike since with my experience it best to go with 70-80% of tank fill up on fuel.
                  2) 4 rpm gives me 50 km/hr, 5 rpm gives around 60km/hr speed, and overall I'm unable to observe the vibration at any rpm. By the way what is the economy range of rpm and speed of Apache? Many bikes have that green coloration for economy but my bike has only the red coloration for very high rpm.
                  3) the front shocker makes a squesed sound.
                  4) Moving up gear most of the time from 3rd gear, or even 2nd gear sometimes, I automatically reach 5th gear. This irritates me. Also gear change is not smooth but manageable.
                  5) Observed that on no accelaration, but on any gear, the bike moves automatically. It's 6km/h in 1st gear, 8km/h in 2nd gear, 11km/h in 3rd and 4th gear and 12km/hr in 5the gear. Just to make sure I even moved my hand away from the rev. Is it normal? I mean on cars yes but never saw on bikes before.
With my 2nd service coming soon, suggest me what to say to the service people.
P.S: My bike is complete stock with no modification.

The moving without acceleration I feel is because your rpm is not set correctly and must go higher than 2k rpm when the engine is hot,
Enjoy the milage but beware that your not running a lean mixture it can cause all sorts of problems later on,
No vibrations and 60kmpl on an rtr
They didnt give you a coustom one with a unicorn engine na?!
I love te rtr for its vibrations, its nothing as much as its been exaggerated, but you enough is there so that you know which rpm your on without looking at the tacho.
How did you calculate fuel again?
Mostly highway runs with constant rpms will give you good milage
And yes highway runn in bikes are much smoother than the ones runn in inside a city.

basically i dint like the look of the stock silver/grey stripes (stickers) on the white colored bike :P So, if you all have observed in the pics that i have replaced the stock stickers with the stickers that come with the black rtr 180 (the entire set) Personally, i liked this black/grey combo better than the stock silver/grey stripes please feel free to comment...

edit: the pics were taken through my phone camera, hence low quality and main intention was to post the pics of the stickers and hence the complete photo of the bike wasnt taken. The below pic is the stock look along with my helmet!

Hey Divyansh.. I got the full set for 500 rupees!
Even I got the idea of the chrome apache decal :P but on enquiring at the SVC I was informed that they don't sell it separately
the stickers are easy to pull out I.e it doesn't cut halfway while pulling out and there's is no sticky residue left at all. The new stickers were applied by me
And the place where i bought it from, they sell only the stock coloured stickers of most bikes.

Edit: the shop had the stickers for the abs version only, with 'abs' written on the tank scoops. So I was left with no choice other than using the abs stickering on my non abs rtr :/

AFAIK RTR in top gear @4k rpm will be in 55km/hr, while @5k rpm it will be 68-70km/hr.
The speeds which you mentioned are attained if in 4th gear.
                            Please re-check this.

30k on odo. Got the head cleaned, timing chain replaced, cone set, bore packing, piston rings, cylinder head plug changed and engine oil too.Total cost was around 2700 including labour. Guys, TVS has developed a new rocker arm which minimises engine noise and vibrations, got that replaced too Now my RTR is smooth as ever, feels like new!
