What problem does white smoke from the exhaust, when the bike is red-lined signify? Damaged piston rings??

He'll that is not normal...... you are either over filling engine oil, or the piston rings are shot,or your bore is coming to its end. a perfect bike will not consume or burn oil. Is the oil of the correct grade? No fake castrol na?

I'm using Shell Ultra 10W40 & topping up with Shell AX7.. 35k km, mostly its time for a new bore & rings..

The white smoke issue is mainly due to low level oil plus the oil getting burned. Fully synthetic oils are good but many people have reported a drop in oil in course of time. I think you already had faced this issue of oil leaking after which you had use anabond. That time also the culprit was FS oils. I suggest you to do proper oil top-up every now and then especially during trips or hard ripping. If you want peace of mind stick with semi synthetic oil Shell-AX7.

Hey.. Yup I did face oil leak after which I replaced the engine head.. No oil leak now.. But the oil level drops low after every 800-1000km, so, I keep topping it.. The white smoke comes when bike is in neutral & rpm is near 11-12k.. I think I should maintain the oil level near full mark & rev.. If I get white smoke , then, new rings or..??

I would suggest to go for a cheaper alternative first. So first change the oil to some semi-synthetic. Then check if this issue still prevails.
Low oil level is not good for the engine. Spending extra for fully synthetic and suffering this issue is not worth the money is what I feel.
                Anyway the choice is yours.

The white smoke is only at redline or at other rpms also?
If it is oly seen at redline then I don't think its an issue because I've seen many bikes at the svc including new ones giving white smoke when revved to 11-12k rpm in neutral!
But do change Ur oil to semi synthetic (ax7) and check if oil consumption issue still persists, if it does then its time you got bore/piston rings checked

                    Fellow Apachians,

My apache 180 is drinking too much fuel. I used to refuel my bike for Rs.500 always. Below are the last two stats.

                    Rs.500 - Ran 153km. (Max speed 60; avg speed 45)
                    Rs.500 - Ran 142km. (Max speed 70; avg speed 40)

I am calculating above figures from reserve to reserve. My bike is just 2 months old with ODO reading 1048km and completed first service.

What could be the reason for this much LOW mileage? Myself thinking of below possibility
                    1. Fuel tank leakage which is so minute that petrol gets directly vaporized without wetting the belly!!
                    2. My petrol tank lid is slightly (2mm) protrudes outwards and if I press it will go down and on releasing it will come back. So might be some petrol vaporization happening. (I posted this some days before but none replied: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ml#post1061957)
                    3. A defective engine

This weekend I am taking my bike to service center for the same and what all things should I ask him to confirm??

EDIT: Image added for point 2.

Your carb. tuning might be running on a richer side , check your sparkplug , if the tip is brown then you are running an optimum mix , if its black then you are running rich and white denotes a lean mixture, while taking your bike for service tell the guy to check your bike's tuning.

EDIT: I think the petrol tank lid is similar on all RTRs , there is a rubber seal on the bottom that seals petrol from evaporating , and you are getting the feeling that it comes back on releasing because its rubber.

I had the similar issue :P try increasing your idle nut to say 3-4k rpm and check whether the silencer spits white smoke on neutral , if your engine is drinking oil then there would be thick black residue on your silencer end. I ended up re-boring my engine to the first stage at 40k kms a couple of weeks ago , ran in and now not facing any issues as such .

White smoke is only after 10k rpm.. But oil consumption is as usual.. When the bike had no white smoke issue, oil level would drop to the same level in the same km.
I suspect the tappets is not adjusted properly or that time-chain need adjustment. Going to get it checked asap..

Nope.. No white smoke at 3-4-5k rpm.. White smoke comes after 10k rpm only..

I don't have the part number Bro. Will try and find out as the shop had only 2 pieces left. You can ask for the newly modified Rocker arm, the modified ones comes with a tiny hole (which the older ones don't have) TVS believes this will reduce noise and engine vibration. And trust me, the bike is so smooth and vibration free after replacing piston rings and the new Rocker arm.

yes, so what, just make sure while re-sealing it, they do it properly or oil will keep on dripping from the head.
