The plug itself costs 120 Rs, the cap should not be much... BTW the rubber cap or the whole wiring as well..??

A 10W40 oil would be good for the engine.. A thicker oil would make the engine very sluggish.. Since the bike is just 7k km, he better stick to TVS Tru4 oil for another 5-6k km..
The oil which suits RTR is the Tru4 itself as it is recommended by TVS..Other oils may or may not work properly with the engine.. If he wishes to change, he better go for an oil of 10W40 grade as the recommended oil is 15W30..

            Go for Shell-AX7 10w40 grade semi-synthetic oil.
            Drain period between 2000~2500km.
The first 10-30km the oil may seem to be normal. After that you will notice what gem of an oil it is. The gear shifts will be better.
I have been using the same for more than 1 year & have run more than 10k using this grade.
Hopefully this will solve the issue.

              Thanks buddy for your suggestion.

Can we get shell only in the shell fuel stations??? or is it readily available in most of the automobile shops??

Very few of us here are using the Tru4... But majority of us waited till the bike crossed 10-12k km before we shifted to a different oil... I would advice he would do the same but if he really wants to, he can go for Shell's AX-7 or AX-5 it is a good SS oil and a good value for money..I'm not sure of the performance of the other manufacturer's oils..

You can buy Shell oil in Shell pumps & other shops as well... Get it from a shell pump, it won't be a counter fit..

                  Hi Guys,

My cousin has a latest ABS model. He has driven around 12k and the rear brake has failed due to a hole in the pipe. SVC guys found that this was due to battery acid leak. We sourced for the part from another service center here in chennai and it costed around 1100 for the hose. So check the battery drain hose in your bikes. I have got the same model, till now driven around 460kms... i need to check for the battery hose in mine ..

Guys, I got my bike serviced (12000 kms) recently (15/june) and replaced my brake pads and engine oil (castrol power 1). after the service my bike's acceleration has become amazing and the gear shifts have become a lot smoother and the screeching noise from the front disc has also gone. but some how i feel there is some roughness with uneven throttle response at 4-5k rpm after that the accelartion is butter smooth with lesser vibes.

plus today i have noticed that there is some noise coming from the bike dont know from where.....tried finding by giving full throttle putting her at rest.

the front suspension has become as soft as cookie dough

suggest me on the situation people

The uneven throttle at 4-5k rpm might be due to 1. dirty air filter 2. bad spark plug 3. improper carb. tuning 4. TPS needs to be changed..
As your bike is in the range of 12k km, TVS SVC have to change the spark plug, check if they have replaced the spark plug, if not replace it..

Buddy, first try and pin-point the location of the noise, then we can help you...

                        thank you for the reply

The SVC did not change the spark plug because i was told that the plug is replaced after 15k......you are right it should be changed at 12k saw the manual now...

and the noise is coming from the DOME part i suspect....
also please suggest me on the softer forks that i have

A friend works in the R&D of TVS & we were discussing that the cooling efficiency of the new RTR is terrible & that the engine runs hotter..
Without feeling/ riding your bike, I cannot give you any accurate solution.. I feel your bike is normal..Try & ride another RTR & just compare the heating..

I would recommend you to stick to the TRU4 or go for a S.S oil of a grade of 10W40.. You can go for Shell AX-7, I find shell oil is value for money & not a rip-off of cash.. Don't go for thicker oils ,they will make the engine sluggish.. I have read & heard F.S oil makes the engine hotter..so, I guess you must avoid F.S..
Vivek, i had a discussion with person name THOMSON in face book, he works in TVS showroom, and he says that the new RTR run always 10 Degrees cooler than the Old RTR. I have been constantly having my eye on the engine oil level, and till now the level seems to be fine", as you said, i am gonna try to ride another bike of 2012 RTR, and compare the heat discharge and then i can come to a conclusion. Also a mechanic in the SVC has suggested me to go for MOTUL 7100T engine oil for my RTR. has any one tried using it, and how good the oil is.

A showroom guy..?? No offence.. But they are paid to repeat whatever the company tells them to...
The heating issue was the most important for TVS's R&D division Hosur.. Actually TVS have set Honda as a bench mark for heat issue & the team have tried to reduce the heating but have'nt succeed.. That 10 degree stuff is given by TVS's marketing... P.S, this was from my friend who works in the R&D dept. of TVS.. Its upto you to decide what you want to believe..
What grade is Motul 7100T..?? 10W40 or 20W50..?? Is it a F.S oil..??
