Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
You will lose traction as the contact area is reduced by the locked up tires and will skid or, if lucky, wont stop in the normal breaking distance. By lucky I meant you don't have anything infront waiting to be hit by you.Originally posted by spknair View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I have 180 ABS version.
The problems i am facing are;
If am riding my bike at a constant speed of 40 - 45 kmph it starts choking as if it is about to run out of fuel.
The other problem is, my bike farts. If the throttle is increased and decreased it starts to fart just like TVS Victor does.
I got the spark plug changed, carb cleaned, filter cleaned and filled petrol from different bunks still the same. This has been going on for a month now.
Even the mech at the TVS service center gave up. Have you guys faced these sort of issues.2012 TVS APACHE RTR 180 ABS.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Doesn't the rtr have an option for turning off the abs at the riders will ?Originally posted by spknair View PostYes, it is with ABS.
thats why my doubt arises
as per your words his ABS may be faulty ????
when we lock both wheels @ higher speeds; what will happen???
bike will stall or skid???
Cheers

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Try to get the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor/Switch) cleaned or replaced (Approx 150 INR). It is fixed on to the left side of the chassis under the fuel tank. Has a box shape, red in color. One end of the throttle cable is connected to the TPS. If the TPS is not activated/working properly, it will give incorrect signals to the TCI and the engine will have hiccups in the speed/rpm range you've mentioned.Originally posted by sat_06 View PostI have 180 ABS version.

Re: Apache RTR 180 Bike issue
Bangalore is being showered mercilessly for some time now, day b4 yesterday on the way to work it started raining heavily. As I got drenched completely in the inner ring road itself, continued my journey to office. Now on the way stagnant water on the left splashed from front wheel, I would not say enormous but the splash towards the engine/engine guard was with good force. The bike stalled and came to a halt as if someone switch off the engine when you are still riding, tried to kick start (fuse next to battery gone kaput, didn’t change it yet) for 10 minutes continuously but in vain. Then removed the battery cover, took off the fuse and connected the wires without fuse. Tried electric start it worked. After few kilometers again water splashes the bike stalls, somehow I struggled to keep the engine running from turning off, a guy from behind on a kinetic Honda screams, “don’t off the engine, don’t stop the bike” I said okay and moved further thinking of asking the guy what could be the reason, and he already took a different lane. This way it happened 3 more times
Anyone faced this issue? BTW I think my bike has over heating problem, every time I stop near a signal I feel there is something very hot next to my calf
Could this be coz the water splash tried to cool the engine at once? That what I feel, but my friend laughed at me when I said that to him.

Re: Apache RTR 180 Bike issue
Yesterday while going to college exams to which i got late, thanx to bad college transport management...i was forced to take my bike above 4k and rode my bike at speeds of 51/52 to 60 though i also reached the speed of 72-80 on the h'way for a brief moment during which the bike felt awesome. The problem is that the bike is still in run-in process as it has covered 830-890km now & while returning, i didnt take the bike over 4k and though the bike seemed to pretty normal and runs very well thanx to tips by prateek2210 and xbhp forum members. So,have i caused any damage to my bike ?A Bike is as good as it's Rider & Vice-verse. Ride Safe, Ride Happy !!!

Re: Apache RTR 180 Bike issue
Guys anybody from Chennai in this thread. Can you recommend any good SVC for Apache or any good mechanic in Chennai. I am fed up with the service done at RAMKAY TVS Chennai. They have untrained mechanics spoiled my bike. Now my bike handler bar is wobbling, and my bike handler bar is slight slanted towards right side. Engine is getting overheated. I have been reporting there issues since the 2nd service, and they never care about them. As of now all the free services are completed, I don't want to continue the paid service with them, so I am looking for searching for some good SVC or any good mechanics in Chennai.

Re: Apache RTR 180 Bike issue
friends I am riding my RTR 180 for almost 3 years. there was a engine oil leak from gasket. after I repaired it from service center there is a whistling noise around 2000-3000 rpm and then after 4000 rpm. biker top speed is reduced with 2 persons to 92kmph
though the engine is smooth it is vibrating too much. engine oil I use and changed recently is Castrol power 1 racing 10w-50. service center guys are unable to rectify the problem. before repairing gasket it was all normal. any idea what might be the problem??? I am seriously thinking to sell it now as I am gonna buy ninja 300... but still very much disturbed with the service centers...
