prateek sorry to hear about your trouble. The pain and feelings understandable. But if you'd have some perseverance, take it done knowledgeable guy, fix the root causes, you can use the bike for years to come.
But if you opt to go for a new bike, that's also fine, there are lots of better options out there now than earlier.
Cheers

Well, if you ask me or any other who had been following this thread, and others for that matter, we know how much prateek2210 loves bikes. It's just that it's a few years old and it's showing signs of ageing. He just had a major overhaul WRT pistons and such and he was already thinking about upgrading. Hence this time it's no news, but a matter of when he would be selling it.
prateek2210 Sorry to hear about the issues you are facing with the bike. May be you can get it fixed and may be you will try the engine, bore, piston upgrade to your white beast itself, like you said you might try from Delhi. Anyways, good luck with the bike mate.

Update :
Went to the same mechanic who rebuilt it, checked thoroughly and found "bent valves", even he had no idea how this happened, spark plug wire is working fine now, tank flushed. Although he just took 1k for all these but I am expecting a blow soon.

I think the rebuild for 3k did not go right. Please don't say old, before some months I got 2009 model 180 and I intent to use it for many years.
Even I am confused why its showing so many problems. Even I planned to keep it but it looks I have to part ways.

Such small issue which can be taken up at an authorized service center for getting the motorcycle checked and up and running like before. All the motorcycles give unexpected problems and it happens when you least expect it

P.S: the problem could well be in the spark plug cap, I had a similar issue and the SVC fellow changed the cap and since then the bike is running trouble free. I have 27k kms in 3.1 years

Buddy, I hope you haven't read all my experiences on this thread so I wont blame you for saying "small issue". Regarding the bold part, I will reserve my comments on that and ask you not to be judgmental here.

Hey mate, I haven't really read all your experiences with the RTR and yes I jumped to conclusions by just reading your last post about the bike not starting...in no way I meant to offend you! But apologies if I did...I thought it was pretty nasty deciding to sell the bike for a petty issue

Honestly, I've had the best time on my RTR and in the last 3 years it has hardly given me any problems...considering my riding style I would say the RTR is an excellent machine even after taking so much of bashing it is still going very strong! And only because of this hunger for power and speed induced in me by the RTR, I've booked myself a Ninja 300

Obviously I will be keeping the RTR with me for more years to come. I hope you get over all your troubles with the bike mate...happy riding!

Arsenic ..OT: The above person is using HTC One X ? Its launched in INDIA?

BTW ! Its not always about TVS or Apache, it's always about need. when there are options available in market then people will definitely will switch to it.. ex:- Duke200, CBR 250 & N250.. TVS should come up with new bike soon to retain there customer...

Owner like Prateek & some one who is using RTR 180 from more then couple of year will surely want to upgrade there vehicle, but what options they have to stick with RTR ? A Refreshed model ? eh !!! Infact just in year I am feeling like upgrading from 180 to 390, so its obvious every one wants to upgrade.

I agree with Shahbaz63 here.. my RTR is a few hundred kms short of 30k kms.. I love my bike and don't want to part ways with it. But there comes a time when u want to upgrade to a higher capacity bike.. I've been waiting n waiting for something from TVS but they keep on disappointing me.. I've bored my bike to 190cc, fitted a tweaked head and also a tuned FFE from Race Concepts.. i've had so much fun with my bike and it delivers everything so well that everything else in the same category, or more, feels boring.. but yes i've been using it to the core.. touring, stunting, offroading and now its showing its age.. the TVS-BMW bike will take another 1.5-2yrs to be launch so i guess i'll have to upgrade to something else till that time..

Dude.. You could try things like Joel's FFE or big bore to spice up your ride.. It should make you stick with RTR atleast for a year.. Who knows.. Better bikes might come in in a year...

Just wanted to say.. I go to chatrapathi tvs in pune for service.. After every service, they screw up.something.. Weak break.. Some strange sound in rear wheel.... Something or another.. Nd if I go back to get it fixed.. They would argue saying there is no issue.. as if I don't know my bike.. This time they screwed my new projector lamp.. I am done with tvs svc now.. Going to some local mechanic henceforth..

One main issue TVS is facing is with their authorized SVCs. Last time I went to the SVC in my home town it was to straighten the headlamp clamps so that the unit wont make rattle sounds at high speeds striking the key assembly. They said they have rectified it and then it was okay, but after a couple of KMs it began to rattle again. I've put a Styrofoam sheet between the two units for now.

Then I asked them to give me a cover for the front break lever joint which they might have misplaced before as I saw it was missing after my previous service. They said they dont have one. I'm waiting to get to a more equipped SVC to have my bike checked completely. And now there is this squeaking noise when the bike starts to move, probably from under the tank. I am going to have to park my bike in an svc for sometime to get it completely looked up.

Its the speedo sensor issue which is connected to your front wheel...
I had the same problem...It wont cost anything if it is just loose contact, but if the sensor itself is gone then you will have shell out somewhere around 300 bucks i think..
Not sure though...Visit the svc for the same..Its a 10 minute job...

Hi.. thanks for the reply.. the speedometer works fine.. it shows proper speed.. its just the rpm meter that doesn't work..

Padhu, look out for loose connections. The R.P.M meter gets its signals from the circuit near the front sprocket & not from the front wheel. Otherwise it would be a faulty coil in the meter which generates the eddy currents. Get your bike checked at service.

padhu Sorry for the wrong info. RPM meter stuff will be kind of loose contacts...Get it done in svc & i dont think they will charge you if its not any major service...But be with them when they do the same or else they will claim big stuffs & make you pay..
