I was quoted 85k with extended warranty on 1July 2013 for abs version.

Don't try to fix me, I'm broke so I don't work
So are you, but you're broke 'cause you don't work

That they do. They'll charge you for the leg guards, number plates, etc. Even CBR250R buyers are not spared. Dunno about CBR1000RR buyers though.

I have a pulsar 150 classic
Vibrates, gears are notchy, and has a good bassy exhaust.
Reliable as hell (75k kms and counting on stock bore)
Really fast and has a very short wheelbase (quick to turn and corners like a dream) strictly a city bike. Horrible on highways and has quick short gear ratios.
Fuel average I get is around 45 to 48 kmpl
Doesn't budge over 120 t0 130 on the speedo gets stuck in between,
Revs like crazy and loves to be redlined. I love bikes like these and I cant chalk up a connection with smooth hondas such as unicorn etc and even the cbz and hunk.

Saddly its old now, and issues crop up here and there, nevertheless I will never sell it, it will be my leasure, diy, weekend bike. Ive worked on quite a few bikes and im good with diys etc.
I want a daily , reliable, sporty commuter thats fast and gives me a mileage of about 40. Im a college bloke.
Also,
I want a bike that I will keep for atleast 5 years.
Im 6 ft 2
80kgs
I shortlisted the zma and the apache,
Current gen pulsars are a nightmare wrt quality
I dont like the 200ns.

Im split between the zma as I will be touring too and I want a ride that can do 80 kmph all day long with bursts to 100+
My touring will be strictly 2 to 3 times a year 1000km saddle sores.
Reliability is high!
I care for my bike like my baby.
I just love the apache that I did a did a test ride on a few days back. Just like my pulsar classic and even better!

So here is my question:-
1) is the abs a reliable unit? I head it has a lot of issues like the apache fi.... good product but unreliable. The non abs is fine though and I dnt mind shelling 10 to 12 k for safety.
2) how are the highway manners? City mein I knw a180 is the king.
3) has quality gone down or is it the same as it was in the fiero days?
4) I heard the tps is a bit icky and has issues.... is it?
5) how are the spares cost?
6) is it a bomb to maintain?

Sorry for the long background I just hope it helped you understand me better.
And if I have used/missed sms lingo in between blame it on my auto correct dictionary! !!

2) how are the highway manners? City mein I knw a180 is the king. : I have done 80-90 continuously for some kms.
3) has quality gone down or is it the same as it was in the fiero days? : I own the RTR 180 2010 model, still going strong as far as quality of plastic and build is in concern
4) I heard the tps is a bit icky and has issues.... is it? : Almost 4 years TPS working great, yeah some model had issue with it, but its not that costly to change.
5) how are the spares cost? : Depends to which other company you are comparing it!! As per as I am concerned till the time its not serious issue, its ok on the pocket.
6) is it a bomb to maintain? : If you maintain it good, all you would pay is for wear and tear parts.

Saddlesore are 1600kms onwards, and people have done it on many less powered bikes, then why not RTR!!!
BTW I am 40k on stock tyres, they have gone bald or slick tyres for track (as termed by Old Fox Sir)

Divyanshp150 I am using the RTR 180 strictly as a weekend machine and almost 95% of its 25K km (in 2 years) are clocked on highways. I am a sane rider so can't tell you about the top speed but you can easily cruise at 80kmph which comes up quickly. I feel the bike is not suitable for triple digit cruising due to the high rpm at those speeds. I never faced the TPS issue & it should not be a deal breaker. As for the saddle sore part I feel its more of you than your bike. If you believe in safety riding gear then you should start believing in ABS. All the best for your upcoming ride :-)

DELHI.
And as the price difference between rtr and ns was only 10k, I went with ns. Though rtr is also a capable machine and in fact, BEST BUY UNDER 90K( Dunno why people buy fazer),but the 10k difference was affordable for me and the change it brought was immense. Rtr is very good in its aspects and ns even better, like bajaj learnt from tvs. Just no abs is a drawback

I got a doubt, can anyone clarify?

My bike is just 1 month old and has run 1200 kms.
While down-shifting, sometimes the gear gives 'khat-khat' sound. Its not every time but at random times irrelevant of the gear number.
What could be the possible problem?

It's a normal problem during initial phase, i guess the gears tend to be rough therefore it's important that you take care of your ride during break-in period & avoid putting too much stress on it. Eventually, the gears become smooth & issues like false neutrals become less though it's possible that i may be wrong & hope more experienced members answer it better

No, its not false neutral, it is smooth most of the times but sometimes make a rough "KHAT" sound. One of my friends said, chain might be loose and other said try lubricating the chain. I dont know what is the real issue.

Ahh the infamous khatkhatia gear....:P
Dont worry its a simple fix...its not a chain issue and its not a gear issue....!
Your clutch is not adjusted properly. Take it to a mechanic and ask him to adjust the clutch cable properly and voila your issue will be solved.
Had the same issue with my pulsar. Lubed chain, adjusted chain slack, changed engine oils, changednthe methods I shift gears in and still it didnt go. A clutch wire adjustment and problem solved:P

I got a full dc conversion done on my RTR 160, man it never felt better.
Throttle response seems to have improved and a bit of acceleration too, overall its running much more smoother now.
Also the idling was unstable earlier, now its stable.
I guess the ignition system wasn't getting 100% voltage earlier
Could it be the case?
