Thanks for the tips, bhai. Read your response on the phone this morning. Have been extra careful with the revs. Definitely, not considering the 8th option. Haha!

I thought it would be the air in the system so brought a bottle of brake fluid (for top up) & bleeded the brakes, still no effect. In the night while parking the bike I saw that the brake lights were taking a bit longer time to go off even after releasing the front brake lever. Next day checked the front brake switch it was fine, tried cleaning the front brake cylinder piston (from outside) but no effect on braking & brake lights. Showed it to my mechanic he told me to replace the 'front brake kit'. I think he is refering to the master cylinder assembly or is it anything else? Guys any idea about this & its cost? Will be going to TVS service tomorrow so thought of asking you guys before hand. I do most of the service myself but can't take a risk with brakes.
Quoting my own post as its been a while I have updated about it, back from a 300km ride & I am ready to report. Took the bike to the authorised service last week and showed the problem to the known service advisor, he said about replacing the 'piston kit'. I also told him to change the fork oil & fork oil seal. On asking upon which brand of fork oil they will use he said the fork oil comes from company and is of IOC/BP make ( princesirohi & Pinaki ji any inputs on these fork oil?)Got the bike in the evening the brakes felt a lot sharper & under control after the 'piston kit' replacement, what I came to know about piston kit is that it is a part of master cylinder assembly (the piston part with spring) that actuates the brakes by releasing hydraulic pressure on the calipers. The bill was as followsFork oil (350ml): Rs 77.78/- Fork oil seal (2): Rs 179.56/- Master cylinder kit: Rs 311.11/- Labour: 200+150 VAT on spares: Rs 71.06/- Total: Rs 989/- The fork oil change made a lot of difference, the bike feels more planted on corners & I can feel the change in jounce & rebound on hard braking & while riding over rumble stripes. A special thanks to susheelkumar & Adarsh_Bk for your inputs.

Followed most of these points & am very happy that my bike is in excellent condition. However, regarding power/premium petrol, i have mostly used Shell petrol ( max times the normal & couple of times super after break-in ) as it's pump is close to my place & the quality is good. So, is it possible that my bike's engine has not been affected since it largely feels in good condition

Hello everyone,
I got my bike on Tuesday, this week! I just noticed after pressing the mode button that the High Speed reading showed 133kmph. The bike had done rougly 2kms before. Can anyone tell me what could be the cause of it? Do tests require that sort of speed? Or is this someone try to fiddle with the bike pre delivery?

Chances are more that it is a speedo error. Have you lately rode the bike in rain? Then there is high chance to register such speeds.
Mine is RTR-160 & the speedo recorded is 160.

Funny thing is, when the topspeed recorder auto resets, it sets itself to 160. Thats actually the max speed, speedo can record. But when you see 133 kph, you should be sure, that the showroom guy has ripped it real hard in its topspeed.
Nothing to worry though. Even my bike had run 35 km with recorded topspeed of 115 kph, when I bought from the showroom. Mine was 1st bike in my city, hence was Test ridden I guess. But Never faced a problem.

As my bike is about to complete 2 years and 6500km I am planning to get a k&n filter installed. Can you guys please tell me the pros and cons of using it. I dont want to upjet the carb. Just that being a bit childish I like the voice note a k&n gives Can you also throw some light on the benefits of k&n from the stock filter without upjetting the carb. Thanks
Installing K&N without an upjet done spoils your engine on the long run . You run your engine lean which leads to over heating and eventually engine oil drop which ends with a engine failure , if you are okay with all this ,then you can go on without upjetting .Pros: you get a minor bump in performance with a drop in FE and a bassy note from the filter(with the upjet) , without the upjet there is just the bassy sound . Cons: expect your engine life to be cut short and the bike will also choke to reach higher top end over 120kmph

Thank you! But as u said it will make the mixture lean so, cant we change the mixture from the carb again according to filter needs to make it balanced so that it doesnt harm the engine???

K&N would be pumping enormous amount of air in so a normal carb tuning wont supply the right fuel mixture for it ! engine will still keep running lean , that's where an upjet comes into play . Upjetting the jets would supply in necessary fuel which would compensate the air intake . Personally , i have seen engines dying and friends getting it rebored within 10-15k kms of running on an performance filter without an upjet , i used my K&N without an upjet for a month and upjetted after that , since then i have run 17k kilometers and still running well . Upjetting would take a bit of your time with trial and errors , but its better to upjet and use the filter . If your not willing to , its better to stay away from it .

Okay! Seems like my dreams of a k&n would go in vain. :| Because upjetting the engine would reduce the mileage and this bike already is a monster in drinking milk, gives only 28km/l on pure stock even. :/

Guys, urgent help required.

Please suggest me a good rear tyre for my rtr 180 (6 months old). My major use of the bike is in city traffic where i always get many oil patches on the road and have many panic breaking. I need a good tyre which provides awesome grip on wet and dry tarmac. I fell twice on road while commuting coz of oily surface due to panic braking.

For now i have decided to go for mrf zapper vyde. Please give me your suggestions as i will be changing the tyre this weekend

That's weird :\ . On stock i used to get 39-40kmpl easily and with the k&n am gettin 35+kmpl. Check if your running rich , your sparkplug should be black in that case ! if yes , get it tuned properly. Clean your air filter too .

Mate your bike is in serious condition, 28km/l in stock means IMO either you are running too rich/ you ride like a maniac/ you don't know to calculate your mileage.. Wen I was on stock I was getting 40-42km/l and after changing filter am getting around 38-40km/l..

@mudit_seh : Apart from points already mentioned here, would like to add one more thing. After market air filters allow more air into the engine, that means more dirt will enter the engine ultimately resulting in engine damage. Please don't fall for all these stupid mods. And yes get the AFR checked, this should not be the mileage.

Can u share some pics of the bottle (if you have).

generally manufacturer recommended fork is the best for normal street use, and it is a bit troublesome to find equivalent grade good quality oil in india. so dont worry.

Indian Oil Corp. does not list any fork oil on its website. Bharat Petroleum do list shock absorber oils under "MAK" brand name.
