    Hi All,
I've bought Apache RTR 180 the newest model on the last September. The bike is good, though I can't say the engine is so smooth due to the vibration in the range of 4k-5k RPM but it's performance is good.
Now after 3rd servicing I'm seeing my bike is reaching 53-54Kmph in 4k RPM which I feel is not going right. I may be worng too!!!!!
Can anyone help me in this matter?? Should I go for a tuning or check anything or my bike is perfectly all right??

    Thanks in advance.....

Any identification marks like those in tires?
My steed is RTR-Hyperedge 2010 model. Stocks came with tube-type tires.
So will it support tubeless tires??
Yes. There is a dfference between tubeless and tubetype rims. Tubeless rims have a taller wall near the sides(called beading) to prevent sudden deflation of tyre. So the usage of tubeless tyres in tubetype rims is not recommended(even though many old 160 owners have used it without problems).

Regarding your bike, all the 160s manufactured prior to the facelift come with tube type rims. If you want to shift to tubeless tyres, it is better to change to tubeless rims of 180s/new 160s.
Source - RTR 180 service manual. It states that if RTR180's tyres need to be used in 160s, entire wheel assembly set(rims and tyres) needs to be changed(applicable for 160s that come with tubetype tyres as stock).

Hi. Welcome to xBHP and the tribe.

OT Vibration is part and parcel of RTR, but you'll see the vibrations going down as you clock more km. If you have crossed 5000km, try using Shell AX7 in your next oil change. Vibes do come down a bit with that oil.

Regarding the RPM, 54-55 km/h in 5th gear is normal. You'll see deviation of 1-2 km/h depending on your tyre pressure. Make sure you have maintained proper tyre pressure (25 for front, 28/32 for rear depending on single/pillion).

I own a new rtr 180 (3 week old) and today morning when I started the bike its Fuel Indicator was blinking. It kept on blinking for my next 2 km ride but when I stopped in a signal I found its steady and not more blinking. From there I drove another 6 km and still it is steady (not blinking) !!!.

So I wonder how reliable is a digital Fuel Indicator (at least Apache Fuel Indicator) or Is there any adjustment that can be done to this, like a correction factor?
What susheelkumar has said is right. Don't rely too much on fuel indicator. Reset one of your trip meters as soon as you hit reserve. Refill ASAP after that. Avoid riding beyond 40km in reserve. It's even better if you avoid hitting reserve in the first place.

Thanks for the info buddy. Actually i called one of the TVS service center mechanic head. I asked him about putting TL tires on TT rims.
He said its possible by fitting some neck stuff properly. He said most of tire shops provide the same with an extra bit of money.

          Hi pcgamer,

          Thanks for your previous reply.

I've completed 3600kms on my bike. the 3rd servicing was on 10th March. In the service center still they are recommending me to use TVS True4 Premium Engile oil.

Do you think shifting from this can bring a bit smoothness in my engine??

If yes, then please suggest me one. I am thinking to go for Motul 300v 15w 50. Will it be a good choice???

Hi, keep using TVS TRU4 till 5000km. After that ask your service center if the usage of other oils voids your warranty. If they say yes, I don't think you can do any thing other than draining out that oil and use the oil of your choice. It's better if members with similar experience comment on that as the SVC which I used to visit let me use the oil of my choice.

About the Motul 300V, it is a fully synthetic oil. Some members say that it's better to wait till completing 10000km on the odo before using fully synthetic.
Also, consider the following points, W50 grade oil is too thick for RTR, some members who have tried that grade have said that performance drop is seen with W50. So better stick to W40. The stock TRU4 is 10W30.

RTR consumes fully synthetic oil. You'll need to monitor the oil level frequently with an FS and may need to topup if the level has fallen. If the level has fallen beyond the critical level, it may lead to catastrophe.

IMHO, semi synthetic oils offer the best of both worlds for RTR. So, I'd suggest you to stick to semi synthetic oil, but after you complete 5K km (as the first 5k km are part of run in and I feel it's better to stick to manufacturer specified oil till then) and only if you don't face warranty related issues with it.

The popular SS oils with RTR owners are,
            1. Shell Advance AX7 10W40
            2. Veedol Super Swift 10W40 (No personal experience)

Mine reaches only 52 kph on 4k rpm (5th gear) and bike vibrates a lot on 1st and 2nd gear if i rev upto 4k rpm. Is this normal or my bike's problem?

Also, I have given my bike to TVS because it was giving continuous kat-kat sound from the carb and idle rpm used to go upto 2k, they said its a heating issue Have others come across this problem?

RTR 160 does 52 kmph at 4k rpm
If I am not mistaken that 'kat kat' sound is from tappets and its the tuning prob, the svc guys dont know how to set A/F ratio right, they used to do it to my bike also, once the engine got hot it used to idle at 2k rpm.
Get the tappets adjusted and get the carb tuned from a good mechanic and also the engine oil svc use i.e tvs tru4 10w30 helps the engine heat up quite a bit.

Yes, I got my bike back today and he fixed the tak-tak problem.
But yaar another issue which I am facing after 1st service is that : On 1st gear, when I just leave the clutch in very slow moving traffic, the idling gets lower than 1k rpm and bike halts, as a result I have to first rev it to 2k rpm and leave the clutch. I thought they might have solved the problem today, but it still persists. Anyone knows about this problem because they said they tuned the carb today.
I will have 2nd service done after 300 kms so will try to get this fixed, only if they have the expertise
