@albyjose : Get more foam on the seat and ride easily. Dont exert much pressure on your wrists. I was happy with off roading during my most of the rides, only problem was the hard seat.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi bro.. My bike is 3years 1week old.. The battery started showing signs of dying (starting problem, self start problem, odo going off & uneven idle rpm), I was convinced that a new battery is due but before that I changed the spark plug.. Now no signs of any trouble with the battery (no self start issue or odo going off issue) as well.. Not sure how the spark plug caused so much trouble..Originally posted by susheelkumar View Post@vivekgautams has already given some inputs. On top of that also check your battery. If the battery is weak then the idle rpm will come down.

To add to what has already been said, I also bought an Amaron Pro Bike Rider(24 + 24 months warranty) a month ago. Cost was about 1900. Got 200 for old battery. Get the 9Ah one. The full model number is in their site.Originally posted by susheelkumar View Posthi all..recently my battery is gone kaput i guess...the self start doesnt work..when I press the switch the speedometer restarts as if it lacks power.
The headlamps used to get dim whenever I press brakes..Other than that there was no issues at all.. So two days back I gave for recharging.
After that everything is fine except this self start...When I asked the mechanic he is saying the battery is gone & needs to be changed..
I felt really bad..shouldnt have given for recharging..
Anyway the battery has crossed 3 years. Its the stock Exide battery...
Well Im planning to change to dry batteries of amaron. I heard they are maintenance free.
Anybody here tried the same. Also what should be the max power output of the battery I should look for?

At that time if you give to SVC, they will increase the idling and later it will be another headache for you.
BTW the idling is between 1~1.5k. So before you tweak the AFR make sure your battery, Spark plugs are all good & running fine.
My bike is just 1 and half months old. So all the problems are new for me. I dont know if I should play with A/F screw and idle rpm by myself.
Today i drove around 50 kms in the hot sun. I found the idle rpm on 1st gear was around 2k rpm, Is it normal or I should be worried?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
hello Apaches
I had changed my front disk pads and notices that the moment of disk is not free thought it would be normal after some kms but now its about a month and the disk is still arrested by the pads . I had removed the caliper and applied some DOT 3 oil along the side of piston and it worked for me for some km.
Present day condition: Moment of disk is not free
squeaking noises can be heard at lower speed
acceleration dropped a bit(might be due to heat)
help needed

How r u?
Similar name ehh?
:P
Now to your issue,
Go to the svc or a competent mech
Ask him to open the brake caliper and pistons,
Lube the pistons with some copper grease if you can source it or normal heavy dury grease.
Keep all the grease and oils away from the pads.
Re assemble and dont tighten one bolt first, gradually tighten the bolts on the calliper and fork equally and keep tightening one and move to another bolt then back to that one till they are secure. Do this with the disc on the front wheel too. This helps it align properly and keeps t centered.
Now, buy dot 4 brake fluid and drain, replace and bleed the current brake line with this dot 4 oil.
Make sure not to get the brake oil on anything painted cause its corrosive. This should be a full rake maintenance and should keep your brakes top notch.
Love the rtr for its brake bite.... best brakes this side of 1 lakh.
Hope it helps.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
My bike is new and it is giving the same problems as you said. I guess my spark plug also needs adjustment, need to tell them about the problem in 2nd service.Originally posted by vivekgautams View PostHi bro.. My bike is 3years 1week old.. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Dude, the clip on's are a little aggressive on the hands. Don grip the handle bars too tight. When you grip the handle bars, don't put the weight of your body on to your writs. Hold gently. I have had same problems. Its the riding style that is leading to the not so comfortable ride. I can even off-road with my bike without tiring. Regarding ride comfort, yes the seats are hard. I had a seat cover done with cotton cloth material under it. That definitely improved the comfort level on bike.Originally posted by albyjose View PostMy rear suspension is in the softest setting.Replaced fork oils before 5k.
How to improve the ride quality of RTR 180?Its really tiring to ride on uneven roads.I tend to ride slower than I would on my splendor on RTR due to lack of comfort.
The soft suspension for me always was very uncomfortable. i have kept suspension setting at the highest. i don't find it a problem on bad roads. You might try adjusting to 2nd most highest setting. That is the ideal setting i believe for the bike.Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

That's certainly strange...Originally posted by vivekgautams View PostHi bro.. My bike is 3years 1week old.. In my case the only problem is electric start doesnt work....Rest all fine...
Anyway will check the spark plug to see if anythings wrong there.
Thanks for the info dude especially on the cost part.Originally posted by pcgamer View PostTo add to what has already been said, I also bought an Amaron Pro Bike Rider(24 + 24 months warranty) a month ago. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hey guyz..Is there any difference between tube-type rims & Tubeless rims??
I know the difference in tires & how to identify. But how can I identify if my rims support tubeless.
Any identification marks like those in tires?
My steed is RTR-Hyperedge 2010 model. Stocks came with tube-type tires.
So will it support tubeless tires??Last edited by susheelkumar; 05-07-2014, 12:09 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I know this has been discussed for many times but again I want to ask this.
I own a new rtr 180 (3 week old) and today morning when I started the bike its Fuel Indicator was blinking. It kept on blinking for my next 2 km ride but when I stopped in a signal I found its steady and not more blinking. From there I drove another 6 km and still it is steady (not blinking) !!!.
So I wonder how reliable is a digital Fuel Indicator (at least Apache Fuel Indicator) or Is there any adjustment that can be done to this, like a correction factor?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Dont rely too much on fuel indicators. In reserve make sure you refill petrol within 40-50kms max.Originally posted by anandknr View PostI know this has been discussed for many times but again I want to ask this.
