No doubt motul makes very good oils
But IMO motul oil and RTR dont do so well together but its only my opnion.
I am currently using shell advance ax7, for RTR its a very good, doesnt affect performance but enhances it, makes the engine smooth.
Yes it may not keep the engine as cool as the thicker oils but it does control the engine temperature.
I mostly ride on highways and very less in city, as per my usage it does justice to the bike.
But engine oil depends on an individual and his usage.

Do most people feel the same ? Even my friend seems to be saying that much too often.
I mean what do you guys feel different ? Lack of masking of vibrations or reduced engine oil life ? What is it that you find inadequate when using motul ?

Cheers

How much of a leak is there ?
The 300v also causes leak in the pulsar range, but that leak is just so less almost negligible, it doesn't make a difference in the oil level does it ?

This is what my mech says,
Motul is generally good for really rough and a little harsh engines (pulsars, royal enfield cast irons...) also the thickness is high for these engines to protect them 20w50 etc, the more refined ones like say the hondas make do with 10w30 thinner oils since they have much better clearences. Whereas the rtr even with its vibrations falls in between hence it needs a little thicker oil but the clearance and tolerance of the engine is much better hence motul is an overkill.
He says try motul w30 in a unicorn it will sound like its having trouble revving up even though the oil is thin.

Ps:- hez 80+ yrs old. And well a little blind.... he works mostly by feel. He worked for yezdi somwer in mysore when he was young.

I am using Motul for quite a long time now. I use 7100 20W50 for Pulsar 150. It might sound strange but I use FS for 4000km only. Well definitely it does take care of my engine and keeps it pretty cool compared to Motul mineral. Though I have a very good experience with Motul 3100 20W50 but 7100 20W50 (FS) seems to keep my engine a little more cooler. yes there's a drop in oil level but that's negligible. In higher revs as I do 7100 is way better than 3100. Though under normal riding conditions and specially city use 3100 suffices the requirement.

Guys i own a RTR 160. Today my RPM meter is not working, i.e., when i twist the throttle, RPM meter doesn't shoot up stays on Zero.
When i turn of the bike and turn it on the self check works, there i can see the rpm meter goes to max and comes back to 0.
When i start the bike it doesn't show any improvement. Please help.

Did you get the bike pressure washed lately? If it happened after a wash leave the bike under the sun for a while. Otherwise visit a bike electrician.
Where are you from?

My bikes clock resets automatically. Previously this happened only after pressure wash but nowadays even without was this happens. Any suggestion??

I am from chennai, the problems started after giving the bike to service.

Then it's the water which is culprit, when ever you give your bike for washing cover up the electricals with some platic sheet, particularly these digital meters.

Yep @ksumaker
Your right buddy.
Pressure wash can reek havoc on electrocals.

@ srinivaas
Now in both your cases I suspect whater being the culprit.
Just leave the bike under the sun for a few hours... yeh it will get hot and will burn your butt when you sit on it but thats the best/safest way to let the water escape. Also if that dosent solve it go to the svc.
I hope it dodnt happen because some idiot in the svc reset the clock etc while stopping the service due indicator on your console?

hemnath,
Didn't you check the bike while taking it fron the service centre?
Check the carb if it has any wires disconnected.

Something like this is on the carb of a few bikes not sure if its there on the rtr, its removed sometimes to clean carb etc, if your svc has done so and then forgotten to put it o it will show a dead tacho, but the tacho will spin on selfcheck just after you turn the key,
divyansh....

I don't know that whether our indian two wheeler manufacturing companies test there vehicle's electrical components for water proofing or not,i once saw HD testing there V-Rod for water insulation, they just blast high pressure stream of water from every possible angle to bikes main electrical components for i think half an hour, vehicle is absolutely drenched in this water bombardment period and once they are done with this test, bike is started and the bike should start in first attempt.

That's very surprising. But not all Apaches will give electrical problems upon being pressure washed, and yes, you can directly spray water on the tachometer of your bike and it shouldn't go kaput.. if it does, then it's a faulty piece you have.
Personally I've several times applied high pressure water directly on the electricals, switches and tachometer, from every possible angle at my home. Just to verify the quality and concealment of electricals in 200NS, nothing ever happened.
