And afaik, there is no other method of run-in apart from these two methods
P. S : Bear is not only animal. Please search for other meanings of the word.
1. Plain and simple. He could've mentioned motoman. I was thinking there was another method which is not harsh but just hard. And I clearly mentioned it appears hard and rough revving rtrs during run in. Not that it shouldn't be done.
2. While you ask me to search for other meaning, which obviously I know, as a senior member you should be telling him to use proper punctuation while posting replies. Also I was only asking him in what context he was using it. Like if I ask you 'what loss you bear' for some random post of yours, what would you take it as? And thats why asked him the same.
The end.

srinath2494 : Yo could have asked the same regarding punctuation marks rather than jumping in the very first sentence that he called you bear.
And regarding Run in, as I wrote dont jump to conclusions. If you would have read the faqs first and confirmed whats written in that, there was no need for that post of yours.
P.S : As senior member (I personally don't like senior junior thingy) my job is not to teach grammar and punctuation marks, rather I would use the post to stop any difference of opinions, clashes and wrong information, being given or something that's helpful for the owners.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello Guys.I am planning to Use Motul V300 Engine for my bike,Any inputs?? I have heard that full Synthetic engine oils are not recommended for air cooled engines.Nowadays i primarily use my bike for touring purpose and long rides only.My bike has done 21000+ on odo.Thank you
Also will NGK IRIDIUM Spark Plug give Noticeable performance improvement over my old Bosch Spark Plug??Last edited by pranav_salieri; 06-05-2015, 12:10 AM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
@pranav_salieri : People here have had problems of oil leaking from head gasket when they used full synthetic oil. No doubt Motul oils are very good and does last long. You can try it, if the problem persists of head leaking revert to semi synthetic.
Spark plugs will not give any noticeable change apart from less cold start problems, but thats it. IMO bosch plugs are good enough.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Thanks pratheek, nowadays my bike has started giving me cold start problems inspie of changing the battery.the electric start starts only after a couple of tries however the kick start the bike and it fires to life within two kicks. What could be the issue here.
Also Motul has a Semi synthetic version.which is best grade for Our bike???I red line my very now and then is it recommended???Can Apache take that abuse

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
You can try shell ax7. It's a pretty good engine oil for Rtr's.
Redlining the bike too often and for prolonged time will definetly hurt the engine with any oil. The way my mechanic taught me to redline and not hurt the engine is to do a short burst of drag race type riding. Except for first gear, you can redline the bike all the way upto 9000 rpm and don't overshoot the 9k mark. Probably a for a km or so try this. Remember the key lies is making your engine breathe fluently. This is just one way I do. There are many other ways which seniors can advise.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
@pranav_salieri : as written by Ajay, my vote too goes for Shell AX7, been using it for more than a year now, and it withstands all my abuses , and Himalayan tours too. If the oil went down too fast then that depends on various factors as well. Shell would work till 2k kms and then change is needed. It will go down if one is into too much of red lining. Also any leakage can also be a factor.
Regarding cold start, how old is the battery and when was the spark plug changed. Touchwood mine has not shown any such signs even after 50k kms. It started in second crank in minus temperature too. I dont even remember when I last used the kick start

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I don't think it has anything to do with oil. I change the engine oil roughly abt 1800-2000 kms. That's what I feel is ideal if one is using semi synthetic and mineral oils. But again I am a spirited rider. I have never had any issues with the oil say from almost a year now and 10k kms odd.Originally posted by pranav_salieri View PostI am currently using Shell AX 7 Semi syntheic oil i love its smoothness.last time i used this oil it wore out it very fast i had to rebore the engine.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I use AX7 too and it is brilliant. Talking about FS oils, I don't think it should be a problem, since TVS themselves have released an FS oil for the RTR. I am currently running that oil. And it was good for about 700-800KM now the performance has degraded. I haven't tried Motul yet but I've heard that 7100v is a good FS oil.Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.
