prateek2210 Awesome video! Never knew about this place. Roads in the video seems to be in good condition. How did the RTR performed? Which tires? For people like me who didn't knew about CHOPTA Chopta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

@prateek2210 Do you have any experience with Iridium IX with SpitFire ? I feel like getting bit more power and feeling when I ride, so thinking about air filters ! I'm not fond of it's utter sound yet I'd love some powerup ! I'm planning to buy a UNI filter.

I could use your invaluable expertise here

What actually happened was 1 year back, I got into an accident that made my RTR no longer special or lovable , till the time of that accident I was keeping my RTR like it was my "precious", I don't know after that accident simply let my bike. It's my first time here since that accident, what actually happened was I was going on a long ride with my friend(he was pillion), I'm a sane rider and safety first man, I was driving like 40-45 kmph in road at that time, suddenly a truck reversed from a home to the rode and hit me from right side, we rolled from the bike. I just had some minor scratches but my friend's leg bone broke badly, and he had to put steel in leg in order to fix his leg. Police filed FIR and registered case against the truck driver for negligent driving, yet it wasn't my fault I somehow felt responsible for what happened to my friend, from that day on I never did really enjoyed riding, my bike !! Till that time I would clean, polish, wax and lube my bike every saturday, check my bike in SVC once in a month but everything changed after that ! I don't know why but I lost trust in my ride, I know it's not the fault of my bike nor me but you see that you'll have a special trust with your bike when you get close with it, I lost that.

Only now I could get it over with, and I'm starting to love my bike again ! Now I'm caring my bike like I used to be

Odo : 17,500
Oil : Motul 300v 15w50 FS.
Everything else remains stock.

What makes me wonder now is how my bike is still giving me 45-kmph in moderate 60-70 city and highway mixed runs.

Now simplest DIY's are giving me pleasure, I do Chain cleaning & lube, Air filter cleaning, Carb tuning and spark plug cleaning. I learned it all from here, I'm a software eng. by profession but I spend most of my time researching about DIY's for my bike now and I was noob as pancake when I bought my bike, it was this forum and it's lovely members that helped me to learn the art of biking and bikes.

After a routine check, I'm uncertain whether my spark plug is fouled or not also I don't know how to read carb setting by the color of Spark plug ! I attached pic of my spark plug before I cleaned, please see to it and tell me how my bike is doing !!

Just skimmed through it, looking really inspiring and make me go for a ride this very night :P

I can't help but to say, there is no one that helped this section more than prateek did, I always wondered that how do you managed to keep interested in here ! I owe you a lot for your posts, I was as noob as pancake when I bought my bike, but this forum and you guys made me love the art of riding and biking !
Albert sad to hear about your accident thanks to a maniac. Its good that you are back healthy & once again in love with your ride.
How is the 300v holding up. How many kms have you done with the oil ?

So sorry to hear for your loss.
We can bear consequences of our action on ourselves ,but when our actions results into harm for someone we love or know ,we tend to hold ourselves responsible for that .although it wasn't your fault and you were at the wrong place on the wrong time ,but still your mind thought that since it was you who was riding the bike ,you are somehow responsible for the loss of your friend.
It's good that you've overcome your fears and started to fall in love with your passion once again.
I will advise to take this instance as a grave moral and to assure that you ride with High Quality Full body Armours and gears all the time whenever you swing your leg across the saddle.
Welcome back .

Thank you and I'm back as healthy horse

I've started using 300v after clocking 10K in odo and I run about 6.5K with it, when I checked last month I saw the oil is almost fouled and reduced much. So I flushed it and refilled again with 300v, I've to say that it's a very good oil, lasts like 6Kkm and engine is butter smooth(as compared to stock config ). I would definitely recommend it, it's essentially factory line and used for racing level extreme engine torque(torture ), yet I'm a sane 65-80 kmph sane rider. There is only one problem, 300v costs 1K for a liter, if that's not a constraint then you should go for it.

Now ODO is 18K.

Thank you so much for your words The irony is I was fully armoured up when I had the accident ! LS2 helmet, jacket, armoured gloves and woodland shoes, and that's why I recovered accident with scratches yet my friend had to suffer for that #%$ driver's negligence. Trust me, I don't feel complete without helmet, I use jackets and shoe even it's super hot in my place.

Thanks guys, I am running on MRF Zapper C both front and rear. Roads were indeed good near Chopta, but the black ice was terrible. I was with pillion, RTR was too good, the initial of RTR was enough to pull me and the pillion.

Honestly buddy, you wont find any visible difference if you go for these, but yes the plugs will last longer (only diff I found) and second diff that you might notice could be that your bike would start in first crank, thats it.

Albert yup i had read lot of reviews of the 300v & riders said its fantastic. I wanted to hear an opinion from a rtr brother. 1k rs for a 6000 km drain interval is cheaper than the others. I guess it lasts about 6000 in our rtr but one of my friend used this in his karizma and he said it lasted around 9000kms. Our rtr's harsher engines spoil the oil faster i suppose. Karizma has a butter smooth engine. My tvs oil lasts about 1800kms. So i plan to use the ax7 upto 2800-3000 as my riding is within the city. Even after 1500kms the tvs oil in my bike looks golden so i suppose the ax7 will last ~3000km

@prateek2210 : Thank you prateek,
What about Air filters ? My local mechanic said, don't go for it if you in for a long haul with your bike, but my friend did installed UNI filter on his stunner and it runs good for like 4 years, then he sold his bike for the Duke 390. I won't be using RTR for like next 4 years! It's already been 2 years. Mech says even if you use UNI very small particles would get inside ! Can we clean the engine ? Will I get more power(Not sound) if I did installed a filter ? What about mileage ?

If anybody can shed some light here, that'll be great !!

Also I need better lighting for my bike, I've too many night rides. I'm planning to move to 55/60. Anybody got any bulbs in mind ? It'll be great if it's whitish so it can match with DRL. I know whitish may be the best for fog conditions but I'm nowhere near it

Has anybody used valvoline in their apache ?
I see many valvoline outlets here in my town (Bhubaneswar).
Any semi synthetic valvoline engine oil options for our apache ?

@Albert Paul : Avoid them, they do more harm than any good. Engine cleaning is one tedious and costly job. Plus all these filters need to be cleaned at regular intervals. The sound gives the "feel" of power but no actual increase.
Lights, if yours is ABS then you can opt for 35watt HIDs or else there are white bulbs from Osram and Philips. DOnt exceed 35watt as battery wont be able to sustain 55watt bulbs.

@Mr_Many_Places : Used it once, as per people its better than TVS but as per my riding (harsh) it was just okaish. I went back to Shell AX7 again. I still prefer to drain it in 2500kms interval.

For 35w, you can go for a good quality hid(will cost you around 3k) or stick to halogens
For anything above 35w, you need to get the coil rewinded and RR unit changed first.
Contact devraj for coil rewinding.

If I remember correctly HID is illegal, we should use projector instead !? also I decide not to go for filter and ngk plugs.

These SVC guys are really gets in to my nerve, I had some jerking noises from mask, I took it to SVC to get it checked, mech lost one screw of my mask and put a bolt there also I just noticed my Indicator lamps no longer works

Everytime I goes there, there are different mechs, my local SVC sucks, I ain't gonna go there never ever.

Bike doesnt start in neutral without clutch. After starting, if clutch is disengaged, it idles normaly as it should in neutral. What could be the issue? Clutch switch?
