Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi Fellow Tribesmen,
I know this subject has been touched upon multiple times but I really wanted some concrete advice as riding my bike is becoming riskier by the day. I plan to get the tyres on my RTR 180 changed before the monsoon arrives. The stock tyres are very very average as you might know.
Any advice what all season radials I should go for (preferably of wider girth)? I checked out the R15's tyre and it's way too thin. My primary usage is city and the occasional trip to Lonavla.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi everyone.. My brother owns an apache 180. Recently the timing chain set was replaced and ever since then, there is a whining sound from the engine which the mechanic attributed to new timing chain being tight and requires some time to set in place. Also, the typical apache 180 deep rumble sound is missing but there is a tuck tuck noise coming from the engine. The video attached should be able to provide the noise from the engine. Any ideas to find/arrest the source of noise and bring back the original engine sound?

Go for Mrf zapper series. 120/80 should be a good fit and serve you at all conditions.Originally posted by Chetas Das View PostHi Fellow Tribesmen,

If you are in Bangalore, maybe I can help if you are still not happy. I have ridden the new bikes. The sound should be butter smooth. I am not sure why you are getting a different sound.Originally posted by apachefan View PostThanks for your reply.
I said splendour-ish because that was my first impression when I heard it. It sounded like a stressed old cd-100 or splendour engine. I mean a hollow rattling noise. The sound was pretty annoying for the first 80-100 km, but things are getting better or may be I got used to it.
The SVC guy took it for a test ride and said it was normal for new bikes to be like that. May be I will visit the service centre again tomorrow. My cousin has a 2 year old 160 which we used to use together and never faced such issues.

Sorry for my long post.
Went to the SVC yesterday. The same guy I've spoke to couple of days ago showed up. I told him the situation again. He insisted that the bike was normal. I went straight to the sales executive who dealt with my bike. I told him I am not happy with the bike and because he was the one who dealt with the purchase process earlier, he was responsible for this. He went into the SVC and asked me to wait for a minute. Another mechanic approached me. I was told that he was the senior guy there. I asked him to test drive the bike once. He did, and I asked him to test drive a test vehicle to feel the difference. He obliged again, came back, nodded his head in acceptance. He took my bike into the SVC and came back after some 15 to 20 minutes. I rode it again and there was no sound whatsoever. I asked him what was wrong. He told me that they some how forgot to tighten the bolts, etc before delivering the vehicle and offered me an apology.
So guys, I've learnt a lesson from this. Please double check your bike before taking delivery.
Thanks ajextreme for helping me out.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
There is this popping sound from exhaust at idle. When i'm revving it above 2k there is absolutely no sound but when i pull the clutch to shift exhaust goes like "dud.. dub" what might be causing this? I tried to fill from different petrol bunks but it didn't solve this

Are you running after market exhaust?Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostThere is this popping sound from exhaust at idle. This is usually caused by unburnt charge coming in contact with hot exhaust causing it to spontaneously combust.

Seems like air lock inside the fuel tank. Open the lid and close after 2 minutes. Things should be fine.Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostThere is this popping sound from exhaust at idle. The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!
Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Ask them to show you the booklet of extended warranty and the matter will be settled. Also remember, warranty is provided by tvs motor company and not by the dealership/service station, so the service centre cannot dictate the terms of extended warranty, they have to follow the terms specified by tvs motor company.
