Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
hi All,
I'm new to xBhp yet i read your blogs.. thanks for the many experience advices.. it helped me in tuning my bike (RTR 160 HyperEdge) well... I have a query... My bike suffers to start during cold start and after riding for 2-4KM its coming back to normal condition.. I've read in previous pages it could be due to engine oil wearing out... I've changed my oil (Shell AX7 10W40) two weeks back. what else could be the issue.
Please provide your advice.Proud Apachian !! ;)

(almost no vibrations in handlebars except a little @4000 rpm).
2- mileage only around 30 kmpl. (Ive ridden first 100 kms under 50km/h still..)
3- tik-tik sound from engine after turning off the engine for 1-2 mins.
4- engine gets too hot after riding 2-3 km only....

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
My guess, it is tuning issue. Fiddling with AFR is a trial and error stuff. It will take lot of time to master it. Just like you, I too played with AFR and later got screwed with the similar issues like yours.Originally posted by Devakumar View Posthi All,

If you trust SVC give it to them. Else you can do by yourself but also make sure that you are also changing the fuel mixture level and not just that AFR screw.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Early morning cold starts on carbed bikes will be that way. But if the bike outright refuses to start or refuses to stay on then you should check the air filter and carb may need cleaning/tuning. Also check spark plug.

Every thing in this world will require sometime to set. Its run-in period. Give it sometime. When you do something before its ready its kind of rape..Originally posted by harsh_C View PostHello. Anyway nothing to worry much. A couple of outbreaks shouldn't cause that much harm.
I didnt know RTR doesnt vibrate.Originally posted by harsh_C View Post

Relax dude. This also is kind of normal. In first service ask SVC to tighten all the bolts well. Changing the oil will also do some help.
Again nothing much to worry.

Normally the mileage is less at beginning & it gets better after first & second service even though my case was opposite because after each service my speed also increased.
Check if your bike is running rich. Yuur spark plugs can give you that hint. Also check if the idle rpm is between 1.2k-1.5k rpm (the rpm needle should be between 1-2).
Hmm...seems your bike is made in Spain, so playing tiki-taka football...Just kidding yaar..Originally posted by harsh_C View Post3- tik-tik sound from engine after turning off the engine for 1-2 mins.
It is the oil dipping sound... Its completely normal behaviour.
In city riding conditions its normal. In high speed riding also its normal.Originally posted by harsh_C View Post4- engine gets too hot after riding 2-3 km only....
Please help
If none of the above, then probably your bike is running rich. Get it tuned.
Again it will be better after first service...
Relax and have a safe ride buddy..

Have answered in bold.Originally posted by harsh_C View Post1- Vibrations in rider footpegs from 40 to 110 km/h.

Vibes and RTR goes hand in hand
2- mileage only around 30 kmpl. (Ive ridden first 100 kms under 50km/h still..)
It will increase a bit after 1st service. Mileage depends on many factors : gear change, tyre pressure etc etc
3- tik-tik sound from engine after turning off the engine for 1-2 mins.
Its the metal contracting.
4- engine gets too hot after riding 2-3 km only....
Being new, it will heat up.
Please help

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
my rtr 180 is just a week old, I get to feel the vibes at 3.5- 4k rpm on the handlebar. It goes off once I shift to an upper gear. Its very normal. I am getting ~32 kmpl :P hoping that it will increase.Originally posted by harsh_C View PostHello. on the first 2 days my engine was spewing out so much heat that whenever I stopped I couldnt keep my legs or hands near the tank area. And its not heating up much now. Its very normal I guess.
I tried an rtr 160 too and I feel that with this bike too its not easy to control your urge to play with throttle. try controlling your urge to cross 50 kmph. it works. I feel less heat and less vibes. In the older rtrs which have runned in well, the vibes are very less.
I have never heard that tik tik sound till now. Its totally new to me.Last edited by srinath2494; 12-18-2014, 09:06 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
My bike's original battery started showing it's age from past one month & the winters hammered the final nail in it's coffin. For record the stock battery lasted for about 3 years & about 30000km of weekend ride. I could have extented the battery life a bit by adding distilled water, cleaning the terminals & charging but I don't think it would have worked for more than a month (As I use my bike mostly on weekends its remains idle for 6 to 14 days).
Amaron was the straight choice & its official website lead me to batterywale.com so thought of giving a try. This is the first time I am buying battery online & I found it to be fairly simple. Select the make, model, your region, mobile no & order the battery. The price (with & without the exchange of old battery) comes up after entering the details. For Cars the Amaron dealer will send the mechanic to install, while for bikes we have to go to the authorised Amaron dealer. After ordering got a call from batterywale & they mentioned the address to which I need to go for installation, it was some 15km from my place. Fortunately my friend was driving down to the same area so called the dealer & explained him that my friend would be getting the battery & will be bringing the old battery with him. Got the battery fitted by myself & the bike now starts with a single press of thumb.
The Battery is Amaron pro rider beta (12 volts, 9 amperes). Paid Rs 1672/- for it after giving the old battery.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hey Apachians,
Last night a freak has dashed his bike with my apache rightside in parking lot.. after that my bike is giving more vibration @ 4500 RPM.. ( i know vibration is part of RTR, yet it more than usual). I show my bike to the local mechanic today and he cant figure out the issue.. and ofcouse SVC guys are not of much help.
Please provide your inputs.
I could see the highlighted parts in picture has came off.. ie., they are not attached to the tank anymore. could that be causing additional vibrate ? or any bolt/screw got loosen ?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi Apache owners, New Apache on the cards. Just now saw one test bike in Hosur.
Features which I have noticed.
1. Mono Suspension
2. Oil Cooled Engine
3. Split seat
4. Bigger box section swing arm
5. Front forks height are quite high
6. New 130 section rear TVS REMORA tyre
7. Regular tube handle bar (No Clip ons)
Test bike looks incomplete since most of finish works are not done yet. All body works are similar to outgoing model.Last edited by satheez_7; 12-19-2014, 04:09 PM.2012 HONDA CBR 250 R C-ABS

Check the air scoop connector bolt. Probably that will be loosened. Tightening that will help.Originally posted by Devakumar View PostHey Apachians,

You can find the bolts on the front side of that piece.

Probably a modded bike rather than an official one. I have been hearing such noise since long time & its high time they cross the 180 barrier.Originally posted by satheez_7 View PostHi Apache owners, New Apache on the cards. Just now saw one test bike in Hosur.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Even I have got some insider intel about TVS-BMW motorcycles setting up shop (manufacturing unit) in Hosur-B'lore belt and that a "new" bike(200cc or more) is coming in 2015. The last time I got some "new" bike intel, it was just before the launch of the "facelifted" Apache..Originally posted by satheez_7 View PostHi Apache owners, New Apache on the cards.
