Hey guys, I just want to know, when was your Front Disk Pad changed?
I have ridden for 8500+ kms and today completed 4th service. The guy was saying to change front disk pad. Is it true that disk pad gets weared off in less than 10k kms?
I am feeling the brakes have gone weak, so want to confirm from you guys if its really disk pad wearing. Kindly respond.

Yes, front brake pads of my bike were changed at 7500-8000km for the first time and second at about 15-16k km. Both the times I changed it by myself rear brake pads which came with the bike are still going strong at 18k on the odo :P

Thanks for the info
Did you start facing any weakness in braking force from front? Right now I feel my rear disk has more power than the front one .

As the brake pads wear out, the play at the brake lever increases by a small amount and brake fluid level reduces a little in the master cylinder, both these are due to the piston in the brake calliper moving outwards towards the disc to accommodate the brake pad wear. It is not exactly weakening but braking will need more effort than when brakes were new.

Thanks @Abishek94 , ya that's what is happening, i need to press hard to apply brakes. It feels that brakes start coming into action only after pressing the leaver by atleast 20mm.

You seem to have a lot of knowledge btw

I think you should let the revs drop before you break or release the clutch.
Im a novice in biking and apache is my first bike too, but thats what I'd do. Aa slight engine roar is ok. Bike loves that! srinath2494

You seem to have a god technical knowledge. I'd be glad if you could help me out.
Above 8k rpm/beyond 100kmph, bike starts making a strange noise. Like that we hear of a fan belt in car. It comes from the rear wheel assembly. It vanishes at lower rpm. What could be the issue/cause in this case ?? Abishek94

I got admitted in a school called xbhp
Description of your problem is very vague. Anyway, Lube the chain, adjust chain slack, check for free rotation of the rear wheel on centre stand. Did you observe any rear wheel wobble at higher speeds? Also check for any loose parts/screws at the rear of the bike which may be vibrating at those rpms.
Perform the above steps and see if the problem still persists.

This is the best how i could describe the issue. Thanks anyways for your inputs. And yes xbhp is a great forum to get educated.

okay this is something similar to what my friend said about the engine sound. he asked me to let it subside. which means lowering the revs? okay how quick can we lower the revs or what is the indication in this bike?
to be precise, at what revs should i downshift from third to second or under hard braking, from third to first?

thanks!

You don't have to worry much about lowering the revs since you'll still be in run-in period i guess. So just shift the gear around 4k rpm. When you break, revs drop gradually and also the exhaust note so you will know when to downshift.

Hard braking, just make sure you hold the clutch at all time while downshifting, else you will kill the engine.

as a beginner, i have a not so good right hand for the throttle. sometimes i quickly get it revving hard. so i need to just use it. thanks! how is the experience with your rtr? done with run in?

Don't worry soo much. Once you get the bike, go to an empty stretch of road and practise riding/braking/downshifting/upshifting. This will help you understand the bikes behaviour. Then, every morning kick start and let it idle for about 1min to 1.5mins. This ensures circulation of engine oil to all parts of the engine. Then you can start riding below 4k rpm.
Engines are not so fragile, a few hard downshifts till you learn properly or occasional higher rpms shouldn't be a problem.
