Re: Reg air filter
Gud to know but white's a difficult color to maintain due to easy visibility of cuts, etc. I recommend 3m paintcoat protection if you didnt go for teflon coatingOriginally posted by kdevdatta View PostThanks Aditya!!

Re: Reg air filter
I read about teflon coating on many threads here that its just wax and polish. So I am confused about getting it done. Whats your opinion on this?Originally posted by aditya_iyer View PostGud to know but white's a difficult color to maintain due to easy visibility of cuts, etc. I recommend 3m paintcoat protection if you didnt go for teflon coating

As for 3M paintcoat, can you suggest a place where I can get it done in Pune. Also any idea how much it will cost?

Re: 3M Services
The Authorized Service Centers seem to be providing two services from 3M, one is just basic polishing, still it is good, at Rs. 100 and other one is at Rs.550 or something, don't know much about it. I got the Rs.100 polishing done at Rusabh TVS Nagar Road.Originally posted by kdevdatta View Post....

Re: Reg air filter
The problem with Teflon coating is that most dealers don't do it right as it is 2 step process with considerable amount of time but if he agrees to do it infront of you then do it as rememberOriginally posted by kdevdatta View PostI read about teflon coating on many threads here that its just wax and polish. 1.they need to do wash & dry the bike
3.apply the teflon coat & use orbital polisher to evenly spread the coat then dry
orbital polisher gives more consistancy & even after teflon coating is done, there are certain precautions like avoid washing it for a week to set-in, etc. The problem wid teflon is that some crafty dealers just do wax polish & don't do teflon but say they did it. Teflon coating is mainly done with DuPont teflon coat that comes in a small bottle with strong pungent smell. It may cost around 500-1075 depending on dealer & always check the bottle.
The pricing suggested by Mirhawk, is correct as i remember 3m has a regular coat at 550-600 & triple coat at 1k mainly for superbikes, etc but dunno for 100 one or that TVS guys do it. I remember one showroom near J.M. road (near hdfc bank/asha dining hall) & other near Viman-nagar (near honda/sony showroom). Teflon & 3m coat may also work the same way but are just coat resistance for protection. So you can get the Dupont Teflon done in front of you then it's gud or else just go for 3m paint coat.Originally posted by Mirhawk View PostThe Authorized Service Centers seem to be providing two services from 3M, one is just basic polishing, still it is good, at Rs. 100 and other one is at Rs.550 or something, don't know much about it. PS - use a gud car/bike shampoo & wax like turtle wax/waxoyl later in 2-3 months to maintain shine.Last edited by aditya_iyer; 11-02-2013, 05:49 PM.A Bike is as good as it's Rider & Vice-verse. Ride Safe, Ride Happy !!!

Re: Reg air filter
Did anyone replaced the cone set?
Is it necessary to tighten it after riding for some kms?
Getting a lot of false neutral nowadays.RTR is 27k old and running on veedol mineral oil.
PLS Suggest an oil(semi synthetic) for better gear shifts, also any online site where you can buy it?"Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

1. I did not get it tightened (cone set) after replacement. Others please confirm if it's needed.Originally posted by albyjose View PostDid anyone replaced the cone set?

2. After proper run-in, Shell Advance AX-7 10W40, any day. For online sites, Google it a bit. Look for reasonable reviews about the site before purchasing.
IMHO, the TVS Tru4 Premium would be better than the one you are using now. Yep, the Tru4 is 10W30 alright, but will suffice unless there is frequent touring. Then again, Prateek Bhai's been using it for that as well.Last edited by Rtrlover83; 11-03-2013, 02:19 PM.The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
hello guys..
am owning an RTR 180 since June 2010.. done 18k km so far.. less running as i use public transport to commute to my office...
i have a query...
1. is it possible to install the ABS system on the non-abs models?
2. Is it a direct fit with minimal modifications or a hectic thing to get done?
3. how much would it cost?
4. has anyone got it done?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
^ After all I've known, fitting the ABS on a non-ABS RTR 180 motorcycle is not possible. At least, no one here has done it. If at all a retro fit is possible, it will be one hectic job and the cost involved will be very high.
I've replaced the stock tires at around 22,000 kms with MRF Zapper FS 90/90-17 and Zapper C 110/80-17 for front and rear. It's a direct fit for our ride. Gives a lot more confidence while riding in wet conditions and at panic braking situations. Yes, swapping to better rubber is by no means a compromise for the ABS, but it helps.
BTW, i own a 2010 Feb Model.
Ride safe. The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Re: Reg air filter
It is a service provided by 3M through the Authorized Service Centers, as I was given a separate bill of 3M by them. The Rs. 100 is just a basic but good polish which will last for a week or two.Originally posted by aditya_iyer View PostThe pricing suggested by @Mirhawk, is correct as i remember 3m has a regular coat at 550-600 & triple coat at 1k mainly for superbikes, etc but dunno for 100 one or that TVS guys do it. ....

@kdevdatta If You like to clean Your Bike Your self, You get some good cleaning material (polish, wax)at Pro Biker at M.G. Road and Laxmi Automobile at J.M. Road or at the Reliance Auto Section.

Re: Reg air filter
If you guys have Reliance Autozone at your place, then they can do the 3M coating.
My vote goes to F1/Turtle wax and polish or Muc-Off products and your bike will shine like new forever.
Mirhawk : No idea about stickers. but here stickers shop can get it done on order.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world
