Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Many years on and yet, this topic is still a hot cake. And that's why I have saved this piece which I wrote back in 2010/2011:Originally posted by yogesh.vk View PostLooks like most RTR owners, including me, have been through that, thanks to OEM tires with awsme grips
LOL! Don't take it personally, mate. And that GP thing is an exaggeration.Even I was a little skeptical about their performance when compared to MRF. But, after riding 15,500kms, I almost know the limits of adhesion of the stock tyres. Now, to shift to MRF and start riding, one 'd take a little while to get used to them. Apache's behaviour is synchronised with what the rider does. If you think you can, you 'd find the grip even if you enter the corner hot.
If you panic and grab that brake lever hard, you 'll kiss the tarmac most likely. Riding an Apache at higher speeds is like riding a GP bike. You don't ride, you tame!

Ah, miss my Apache7305!

I think so too. Anyone suggesting that I remove the front sprocket cover and check for some debris lodged in there or could it be misaligned?Originally posted by yogesh.vk View PostComming to your issue, since noise increases with load, i has to be something related to chain/sprocket component. Senior members might be able to put some more light on this one..

Yes, i do suggest that. Get it done at the SVC. Replace the drive chain and sprocket set if they suggest that. I've done that at around 15,000kms.The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Faced a problem which was something similar - sadly, it was never solved. I 'd hear a clunk-noise each time the chain rolled a full-length. Well, have you changed the sprockets? Hope that you know that 160 and 180 have diff. ones. Plonking-in the 160 might cause some trouble. Mine popped up only after the showroom put a 160's front sprocket without letting me know. No matter how many you loosen/tighten the chain, it never feels right. Buggers didn't have stock, it seems. This alters top-speed and acceleration.Originally posted by evyavan View Post
Now, coming to my issue. I gave my bike for services 2-3 weeks ago and till now I took the bike to a mechanic and had my chain tightened once. The problem was a rhythmic tapping noise and vibrations on foot pegs. I told the SVC people about these vibrations when it went in for servicing, but the issue popped soon after.
Then i took it to the mechanic. That was just a week ago and it seemed to be okay then. But after riding for 50 kms it returned. I think there is some problem with the nuts and bolts or there could be some serious issue with the chain. I think the grinding noise comes from the front sprocket region. Also the noise seems to be louder when there is some load at the back, like a big bag or a pillion rider. Any ideas on what it could be?
Anyway, IMO, you should take a look at the chain-timer.Last edited by Makky; 10-22-2013, 05:58 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I've not changed anything on my ride till now. I am not sure if they changed something at the SVC. I guess I'll have a mechanic look at the chain timer as you said.Originally posted by Makky View PostMine popped up only after the showroom put a 160's front sprocket without letting me know. How many km have you clocked on the current chain sprocket?

Re: Reg air filter
@VinayakVerma
Yes, it is better to do so.
The stock foam type air filter element can be used for around 10,000kms under normal (other than heavy dusty) riding conditions, provided it is cleaned at regular intervals like every 3-4 months.
P.S. a 10K kms replacement is not mandatory. But, doing so will ensure optimum performance. The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi. I just booked a white Apache 160 (2013) from Century TVS, Pune. The showroom guy told me that white colour RD version is not launched yet. Can anybody confirm this?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hmm, i too got my red apache rd 2013 from century tvs, pune. They are one of biggest tvs retailers in pune, so that is possible. However you should check their other showroom just to confirm.(the one at wakdewadi seem big & recent while the one at bhandarkar road seem old ) or check at chatrapati showroom though century is much better. It's possible that the rd stock is yet to reach them as rd versions are often less ordered in 160 & take time to reach though i was lucky to get one within one day from their phursungi godownOriginally posted by kdevdatta View PostHi. aditya_iyer Thanks for your reply. I checked with their wakdewadi showroom and they said that they can order one if a make a booking. But they cant promise a fixed delivery date. Minimum 10 days as per the sales guy.
So after a fair bit of thought, I decided to buy the drum version and made all payments today. Will get her on Monday.
I am just waiting for Monday and now cant even imagine to wait for the disc version however better it may be. Hope that drum version will suffice my riding style. I am upgrading from a Scooty, so shouldnt make much difference.
