Today while starting off from a signal the motorcyclist before me started and stopped all of a sudden. Since I started after him, I quickly had to hit the brakes. I had my right leg on the road so I hit the front brake lever quickly. As I had stated moving I had given some throttle too. From the front brake I heard a small krrr krrr sound and felt the feeling hard on the brake lever. I ride an rtr 180 ABS version and I need to know if it was the ABS working or some fault with the brake. But the vehicle stopped and after that I went near the pavement and checked the brakes. No visible change too. My bike is 10 days old.

From what I have heard, abs works only above 10kmph. Since you were starting from a signal, what speed were you at?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Completely normal. Its the ABS module giving you feedback on the brake levers. During wheel lock the ABS comes into action but with stock tyres during that lock ,the tyres skid a little but ABS kicks in. Better tyres like MRF would not give you that little skid too. There is a flip side to this, try this on gravel and the ABS would not leave the brakes to lock and wheels keep spinning. Bear this in mind.Originally posted by srinath2494 View PostToday while starting off from a signal the motorcyclist before me started and stopped all of a sudden. You are right, but this is the condition only when the bike is started with the key and the ABS module keeps self checking(ABS light keeps blinking)until 10kmph. On engine cut off after 10kmph anytime the ABS module will stay switched ON and won't go to self check mode whenever below 10kmph.Originally posted by Abishek94 View PostFrom what I have heard, abs works only above 10kmph. Why do you want to get it overhauled? :O is there any problem you are facing? And why not svc? Anyway, go to svc and get a quote from them for engine overhaul to get an idea about cost. Its better to get the work done at svc as they will use genuine parts.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
You're right, similar thing happened today i felt the pulses on the lever. Checked brakes and nothing happened to it. Thanks anyway.Originally posted by Chris2292 View PostCompletely normal. Its the ABS module giving you feedback on the brake levers. Same question as abhishek's. What needs overhauling? The engine, the piston rings, the forks?Originally posted by bhadoriabtp View Postplease advise me, i want to get my RTR180, 2010 model done 45k kms, overhauled. what parts i have to get changed, from where i may get parts at reasonable price and on demand. is there any spare parts dealer, pl.advise me address in new delhi or gurgaon area. how much it will cost to me. i want to get it done out side service centre of tvs. co. i do not want rebore. it is my first overhaul of my bike earlier i use to dispose off my bike.
There are spare parts dealer in Karol Bagh, and you can get them at cheaper price as they all buy it in lots. Second thing, buying and getting it done from svc gives one plus point, that if something happens you can always ask them to rectify it. A road side mechanic will not do it with full precision.
Regarding costs, I shared the whole bill I incurred here on thread, if unable to find, let me know.

5. Front forks height are quite high
6. New 130 section rear TVS REMORA tyre
7. Regular tube handle bar (No Clip ons)

This is facelifted Apache which will get launched soon I hope!!Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostProbably a modded bike rather than an official one. I have been hearing such noise since long time & its high time they cross the 180 barrier.
Wont trust until they release it in flesh.
Vivek, By seeing the bike pics below, there is no clue about BMW involvement because it is just oil cooled Apache engine. But anyway, I am also looking for TVS-BMW motorcycles eagerly.Originally posted by vivekgautams View PostEven I have got some insider intel about TVS-BMW motorcycles setting up shop (manufacturing unit) in Hosur-B'lore belt and that a "new" bike(200cc or more) is coming in 2015. The last time I got some "new" bike intel, it was just before the launch of the "facelifted" Apache..

Is that the new bike (in attached image) you are talking about. Then for my eyes it clearly look like a modded one because:Originally posted by satheez_7 View PostSusheel, This is not actually modded bike. This is facelifted Apache which will get launched soon I hope!!

1. No tank air scoops. I dont see any reason why they have to remove it in the latest model as that only adds beauty to the bike.
2. Look at the gap between split seats. It doesnt look that professional.
3. I feel its the old apache 160 which is being modded. I feel older ones didnt have engine guards.
4. if its a test vehicle they will have temporary registration number . Did you find anything like that?---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Actually TVS employee was riding this bike in Hosur and TVS Logo was there in his jacket and helmet. I spoke with him as well in moving busy traffic. Got just only one info from him, He said this bike is 180 CC. Please don't say this bike is modded any more as I already mentioned bike body parts are incomplete. Sorry to all Apache owners here for polluting this thread. I just thought of sharing this!. And yes bike have TEMP reg number. Attaching below the silencer pic which is again incompleteOriginally posted by susheelkumar View PostIs that the new bike (in attached image) you are talking about. .
But still, I'm more disappointed that they are still toiling around 180cc.
Shame on them...Unlike Bajaj these guys are active in sport too. I believe they should have an advantage with more knowledge. It seems both those divisions have a communication gap or they have not yet found the magic to break the 180 barrier to build durable engines (as sport oriented engines are not meant for durability) for normal commuters.Last edited by susheelkumar; 12-22-2014, 04:33 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
thanks for your replies. i have not given full details of my problems. my problems started when my bike done 42k kms. some smoke was coming from bike's silence and engine oil level was going done after 300 or 400kms. ignored this. now oil is coming from spark plug hole and smoke is coming from silencer, oil level is going down very frequently. i think service centres do not have good skulled workers at there centres. when a person becomes expert, he leaves svc and opens his own workshop. i know personally a mechanic who is working for last 20years and very expert in hero and honda engines but he does not have good knowledge of tvs engines. one option is change of head, piston, rings and other items such as bearings and repair and setting of crack shaft etc. second option is change of engine kit, third option is disposal of bike and purchase a new one. but problem is tvs has not changed engine of new bike in any way. no new 250cc bike is coming from tvs in near future. purchasing a new bike with same engine makes no sense. bike is power full, comfortable, light weight, handy and sporty too. please advise me what i should do.vijay super-1981,vespa1984,herohonda1988,herohondasleek1989,su zuki shaolin1994,herohondacbz2000,suzukiferro2000,honda unicorn2004,kawasaki-bajaj eliminator2005,rtr1802010

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Guys my 180 chain got a bit loose 2 days before.. Got it tightened at authorized SVC.. But now i hear a small clicking sound from the chain while driving at lower gears.
I hear the sound while releasing the clutch too.. But the sound disappears while driving above 60..
Anyone with a solutionto stop it?
And please suggest me whether to go with TVS Chain Spray or Motul Spray and lube!!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi guys quick question
Does the RTR 180 come with steel braided brake lines as part of the stock setup?. Also if not, has anyone tried to fit the pulsar 220's brake lines to the beast?. Any details on this would be appreciated
