  • When I start my new rtr 180 the reps are at 3.5k. How to reduce these to the normal 1.5k 1.25k? It makes the bike really noise everytime I stop at signals or such.

I drove this babe with a pillion recently and when I'm through a speed breaker the center stand below actually hits the speed breaker. Is this problem only with my bike? I checked the bike later and the center stand was properly resting on the rest provided and still I've experienced this couple more times and then I decided not to take a pillion.

Now surprisingly, what I've observed is that there was a small pipe from inside hanging in between the center stand. I assumed it is a battery acid outpour pipe or something but I couldn't find any citation neither in the manual nor in any forums or net... Did any of you observe this? I took my bike for a 300km roadtrip. It was fine but still what is this pipe and why is the noise when there is a pillion ? why are the gears so cranky? Oh I'm starting to dislike my purchase.. If only I could've agreed to the one month delivery time of R15! Anyway no use lamenting now... GUys please tell me if you face above problems and whats the solution...

      1) look near the carb of the bike. there would be a vertical screw which would support a metal part. Try opening the throttle and look there, you will notice that the metal part rises. You got to adjust that vertical screw accordingly. Its a easy task. Try adjusting your RPM with your headligts on. Keep it at 1.3k

2)Yes, When some heavy pillion sits on your bike it tends to hit the pot holes or speed brerakers. But I don think too many people are that heavy .

      3) Guess you don't know anything about your bike . All bikes have a pipe hanging below and it is to drain the overflowed fuel (if im not wrong)

You have a perfect machine, don't worry Gears will be notchy in the beggining. You will notice it get smoother as ur odo counts on. Do proper run in and happy riding

Thanks a lot man. I was really getting my hope down, you gave me the spirit back.

        1) Sounds quick and easy. thanks
        2) It wasn't a heavy pillion about say 60 - 65kg. I think the bike itself is not suitable for pillions.. forgot to say that my shock absorbers are in hard setting
3)I know pretty much but not too much . Oh then there isn't something cut and left... and if thats so much obvious, y isn't it mentioned anywhere on the web world? Yeah my highest speed was 101 and it completed 400kms now. Watiing for 650 700 for first service.. BTW i just wanted to see the power of the bike then I was lettin it run in by driving at constant 55 60 on the highway

        • btw one more small query.

When does the low fuel light above the service indicator glow? is it after the bike comes to reserve or before that? Cuz actually even if my bike was showing two bars above the R mark, it wouldn't move untill I turned the fuel knob to Reserve. Now I'm wondering what I should do, should I wait for the light to turn up? will it anywho?

          • the low fuel indicator glows when there is very less petrol in the tank, it does not glow when the bike goes into reserve

              • Do not rely completely on the fuel level indicator.Always try to keep a rough idea about the amount of fuel present in the bike especially while the bike is in reserve and fill fuel accordingly.

                • Friends, got my bike serviced at 630km on odo (first service). Complained to the SVC guy about the rough gear shifts. He corrected it and filled-in fresh TVS TRU4 oil and the service was pretty good. Got my bike delivered on the same day.
He told that he had adjusted the chain a bit to bring the gear shift smoothness (hope thats possible...).

He also asked me to visit the SVC whenever I feel rough gear shifts.

Now the bike is very smooth , especially at speeds of around 70-90 kmph , I feel like flying with this bike. damn smooth.....!

Golly Moses! I just went to the service center on kukatpally y junction and the worker there adjusted the beatings.. man it was too lame to take my bike for that... Then I asked him about gear shifting crankiness. He adjusted the clutch wire near the engine(screw loosening kinda) and he said things would be alright. But still when I'm going up the gears (2 to 3 to 4 to 5) sometimes the gear stay at 4 even after 2 taps. sometimes it goes to neutral in the middle and I've to tap it hard again. God knows how will I manage this on HYD roads

One apache 150 which is still intact , kinda bullet proof .
Renny can you please tell me the current cost of FI and 160 in your area ?.

And how do you compare its performance with 180 ? .
Any comment chicane ( Swagat ) on this ? .

                              @ 180 guys
