Yes guys.. It is true.. As far as I've learnt, it isn't only the lever which will be replaced instead the entire assembly though I'm not sure what all does it consists of.. I'm waiting for the arrival to have a look at the entire kit and update u all. BTW, i always visit Bharat Motors near Madhavan park, Jayanagar. They are most reliable and have got numerous awards on CSAT for the prompt response.

One more thing, if what I heard is true, we should be seeing the BMW launched no longer than three months from now. Last week there were a bunch of TVS officials and were reviewing the entire structure and planning for to capture the current set-up for possible BMW engineers visit.. They also have shortlisted a few loyal customers, to be a part of the meeting.. and i'm privileged to be there too.. I shall update you all on this soon...
Dont defeat your enemy.. destroy him. offer hope then crush it..fuel his ego then break it.. finally. deploy ABS..execute the curve..victims defeat assured.. victims confidence destroyed...!!! All with my Beast.. Racing beast....!!!!

          Approved and merged!

If you stay near Mekhri circle, try TVS SVC located in Bellary road.

Regarding SVC Divya has already replied. Normally I goto Tristar Domlur TVS. Then for your first query on light-throw focus. You can get it done even from local mechanics also. Its a 5 minute job but make sure you do this during night time, so that you can test then & there if the issue is resolved or not.
Whatever tire you opt for, go for the stock spec. I believe the stock spec is 110/80-17inch. You can also go for 110/90-17 inch if you prefer a bit thicker one.
If you are looking for long lasting tire, the current TVS tire itself will last 30k-35k km. But the downfall is less grip. If your are looking for good grip tire then less life (say max 20k-25k). I currently bought MRF Meteor for 2200rs (100/90*18inch). They are dual purpose/all-terrain tires.
So first you specify whats your need, I mean what kind of riding you do most., whether if its city/highway/broken roads.

Dont trust road side mechanics for tappets and other imp components of the bike. I am guessing you are nearing your bike's service schedule. Do visit svc

                  This post is for everyone:
I had gone to the svc and hence took pics of the notice about the gear shift lever and tps.
It is mentioned in the notice that only if the customer complaints of hard gear shifts then the gear shift lever and the spring is to be replaced with these new parts.
secondly, TVS has taken the TPS problems seriously and come up with a solution which integrates the tps functions within the TCI unit, there was a notice about this new TCI unit for all rtr 160's and 180's.
if vehicle is under warranty then it will be done free of cost.
Posting the pics which were taken by my puny 3.2mp phone camera hence forgive the quality :P

Aah now I know its not the gear lever. In any case I am happy with the gear shifts and tps. But if I visit svc in next few weeks, will confirm here too.

                    • Serious problem! Engine not revving up

I have an Apache RTR 160. Bought it 3 months back and have covered 3300 kms.

My bike finds it very hard to revv above 4k rpm and it feels like engine is going to blast after 5k rpm. Problem is in all the 1-4 gears except the 5th.
Therefore I am scared to cross 6k rpm on these gears.

This problem I found after 1000 kms as before that I never revved my bike above 4k rpm. In 2nd service I told about this problem and they said they will solve but still I am getting this problem.

The experts kindly help me with this, I am really scared now as its my first bike.

                      Thanks in advance.

                          engine blast?!?
Go to a good mechanic ask him to check your engine oil level first and replace it with a good oil.
I have seen svc guys fill 500ml oil after draining the entire oil since the drum they fill from is running low and they have many bikes to service and the new drum hasn't arrived. Absolutely rubbish svc habits.
Have you visited a mech outside? Do so and ask him or post a video.

Here in kolkata the nearby svc has huge drums of oil and measuring vessels and they use that. Same oil for every bike:banghead: many svcs get huge drums bro. Hence I warned him.

No, haven't gone to an outside mechanic. And oil level should be proper as I had done servicing just 2 weeks back.
And yes it feels like 6k rpm is the max limit and bike starts vibrating badly, loud rough sound as if i ride for 10 more seconds and it will blow off. Only on 5th gear it feels comfortable and can do 100+ without hesitation.
