If the rust extends to the muffler area, then go ahead and demand a replacement.

Btw, the service dude's name is Huzafar Rangwala.

Either ways, I am very confused now. An engaged clutch means the wheels will rotate as the whole system is connected. Engine to clutch to transmission to wheels. If I disengage the clutch (depress it ) the connection/link breaks? Right? Then, how are the wheels still rotating when I pull throttle ?

If there's any other system that doesn't depend on the clutch operation (never heard of any till date), could anyone care to explain me how it works??
Wonder, why no one has answer to this?

How to inspect for a worn-out chain-set? Peculiar sounds like metal scratching against metal (khacccch-khaccck type) etc are consistently heard, despite lubing the chain every 3rd or 4th day.

Bike has done 22k kilometers on the odo. Is it about time to change?

i changed my chain set @ 13k or something... i think its high time you change... and after changing it is recommended that you drive slowly for a period of time... but im not very sure about it...

Even my bike has started emanating that noise. It's done arnd 26k. Also the cone set has gone for a toss. Feels like a non-power steering waala car!!

Take a look at the sprocket. The teeth would look worn out(read:flatter) which would mean replacing it. But in case if it slips under hard acceleration from standstill condition then you would have to replace it rightaway!!

13K is too early IMO. I think@ 13k I must have been touring happily somewhere. Only after it has crossed 20k the problem started to persist. And what's with riding at slow speeds for a period of time?

Flatter? Are you sure? Lijok, sometime back, suggested the teeth would look pointed? I am not sure, can't recall. Don't blame him if those aren't his words.

I tried this acceleration bit. 0-60 times are mint @4.2 secs...Only the noise is unbearable. Slippage is definitely there though.

Cone-set, in mine, has also gone for a toss. Have been warned some 6-7k back by the service staff. Any suggestions on the wobbling issues? Horrible wobbles at speeds over 65-70kph. Service people are zero-percent effective in troubleshooting.

Your chain-set has gone I think. I changed at 20k kms. Chain used to get loose every know and then. It will make sound while changing gears. Show it to SVC.

                • Cost of RTR180 carburetor

My RTR 180 carburetor got stolen from my home parking yesterday night.
2 liters of petrol was stolen along with it. Any idea how much a new carburetor for RTR 180 costs?

                        • Few pages back i mentioned that i had a problem with my bike and it isnt crossing 8k rpm... today went to the ASC at 9:45 in the morning and complained to the reginal tvs engineer, he instructed the TVS people to go on a test ride with me and check what the problem is... they made me wait till 11:30 am and finally came out for a test ride with me... we rode till 2:00 p.m. and finally the mechanic agreed that my bike is having some problem, he concluded that the problem is with the gear box and said he will replace it today if the stock is there or will wait till new stock arrives...

Eagerly waiting for the new gear box to be fixed...

Do i have to do run in again if gears are changed...

Gear box is definitely not the reason for your problem. If the bike splutters at 8 K RPM then it means it is getting flooded with more petrol...change the air filter and see..if it seems out of breath after 8 K RPM then your spark plug must be checked, and carburetor main jet cleaned..you can ask the Mechanic to shift the circlip on the throttle needle by one position DOWN, so that the needle will sit higher than before in the slide..This is to increase petrol flow at higher RPMs.
Check your spark plug...If it is whitish , then your engine is running LEAN AFR, if it is Dark Then it is running RICH..,if it is LIGHT TAN color the AFR mix is correct.
