I went to the TVS A.S.S,the mechanic said probably the battery charge is low.As i went there in the evening it was about to close. My horns are working fine,so i think there is nothing wrong with the battery.
Please guys help me,i am very worried.
P.S Even when it the self didn't start 5 days ago,the self fired after riding for 5kms..
Check whether there are any loose connections in the wires & starter switch.

but yeah no problems when i start it in neutral..
Then you need to replace the clutch lever limit switch.Get it checked first from the A.S.S.

But even then I am not able to tell the difference! The engine though tends to rev-a little bit slower than earlier and the gearshifts are notchy. It's been just 2 weeks since the oil change and level is already low.Is it because Shell comes in 900ml pack and the RTR crankcase demands 1000ml refill?
Obviously, you will have to fill 1000ml oil while 1100ml is required after disassembly of the crankcase. The oil level must be between min & max when you pour 1000ml of oil.BTW ,we do get Shell oil in 1litre pack.

Dont go for Synthetic oils, waste of money & also you wont find much difference. In semi synthetic the best one is Motul 5100T 10W40,not easily available though.Currently am using Shell Advance AX-7 10W40(SS) and I am pretty impressed with it,much much better than Veedol Super swift(SS).Engine doesn't heat much as compared to the previous oil, gear shifts are smoother now.

    • Does the SVC's require special kit/software to service the ABS module?
    • How is the DC electricals?
1)TVS tyres on ABS version might be soft compound ones.
2)You can change the tyre to any other brand provided you put back the same size/profile tyre i.e. Rear-110/80 Front-90/90.But changes in size of the tyres on ABS version might hamper the performance of the ABS!
3)Yes the ABS will require software to check for the proper working of it as the HECU is programmed
4)DC electricals just like any other DC bike!

Is it advisable to do so in the first 1000 km? They say that it improves performance in the long run. Please help me out regarding this
Its called hard running in.A small burst for a short period of time is completely safe.Don't go above 60-70kmph if you had clocked just 100kms.Keep increasing the speed gradually after the first service so that it helps in better mating of the parts inside the engine.

EDIT:Changed the spark plug(Rs.121) today and the hiccups had vanished astonishingly!

Cannot find shell, elf or valvoline here in Delhi (Yet to search in Karol Bagh )

And am permanently off MOTUL. It evaporates I have used Motul 300v 10w40 since 5k kms and realized that it hardly lasts 2k kms (hence no VFM, it costs 875 bucks) and evaporates once in a while...
Shell is available in Karol Bagh.Last time I had bought it from there only. But here in Noida it's very hard to find a dealer who atleast knows about a synthetic oil,let alone Shell or Motul. And riding all the way to Karol Bagh just for an oil change doesn't make sense to me.It takes almost 3 hours of riding and sometimes in excess of 200 bucks of fuel expenses.Plus,it's very frustrating when you are lost in Delhi traffic.Phew!

Valvoline oils are available here. How are they?

Finding a good brand like Shell or Motul is some task here.Mostly, wherever from I have bought Shell lubricants trade with 900ml pack only.Yet to see a 1000ml pack!

Can't believe that Shell is not having the list of dealers on their webpage or,if it's there it simply is not accessible to my eyes. I couldn't find it anywhere!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

@Shivank you can get motul semi synth and full synthetic from Castrol Bike Zone here in Noida.
I went there for an oil change and they showed me castrol one's and motul one's. As i already bought Nulon for engine oil treatment i went for Castrol power 1.
Motul semi synth 15W50 was 450 bucks.
Hope this will help for the time being

        • @Shivank Can you tell me the location of the SHELL dealer in KB. I get lost out there pretty easily. But I know CHOPRAS (the helmet wala). Can you give me a rough location with respect to Chopras

Motul is also available in Swadeshi Oil Corp (Chattarpur). Both semi and full synthetic. But the grade for semi-synthetic is 15w50 (he does not stock 10w40 SS). Is it advisable though since it is different grade

Since the RTR 180 packs a short stroke, rev happy mill it's advisable to stick to the 10W40 grade itself. My dealer too had only Motul 5100 15W50 in stock, but he arranged the right grade when i requested

I do not have much experience regarding the tire change to aftermarket tires.
Thanks a lot for your swift reply!
I meant to ask , is there anything in Owner's manual that voids warranty if the tyres are changed to any other brand?

also thanks to Drifty for the info!

I think I will go and try Motul once for sure!

The Castrol Bike zone you are referring to here is the one in sector-37,right? If it's at some other place then could you please tell the location.

Okay,so suppose you are inside the Chopra store and you come out after having a good fight with him Here's the path which will take you to the Shell dealer:

                  - Go towards Left direction from the shop.
                  - Take the first left turn where you have all those gleaming used-bikes.
                  - Continue for 100 meters or so.
                  - You have another 4-way cross-section.
                  - Then I have forgotten whether you cross it or is it before?

Anyway, you have to take one of those small gallis to the right and in any one of them sits a fat man with Shell oils. He's generous to deal with and you will get discount without uttering a word. If I remember clearly I had paid 230 bucks for the AX7 whereas the MRP back then was above 300 I guess.

If there are confusions still ask for directions from other vendors as well. They know who deals with Shell and will happily tell the location.

A good semi-synthetic would be the one to go for, and i would suggest:

                    Grade - 10W40
                    Brand - Motul
                    Product - 5100 ester 4T
                    Cost - Approx 450 INR.

Check the levels often and top up if required

Dude I have already suggested Ageep synthetic oil costing around 600 bucks.

Just wait for a couple more days.

                        • Guys I had completely got ride of the handle-bar vibes! You will have to rid the bike to believe me!Inserted thick rubber patches inside the clip-on bolts & loads of rubber inside the clamp cover on which there is the RTR logo.I revved the bike to its redline as well as in the 'sweet' 4k-5.5k range many times but failed to notice any vibrations.

You will just need a tube rubber, allen key(5mm) and a 12mm spanner(provided with tool kit) for the work.I think those who are fed up of handle bar vibes should definately try this.

BTW,what's there to adjust in the clip out I could not find it out.Anyone??How to adjust the clip-ons?

TVS tyres are not bad, especially when it comes to punctures... thye are supposed to handle punctures better than any other stock tyre because of the hard compound.
What went inside your tyre?(cause of puncture?), when i had a puncture it was a 4 inch nail .... generally once you have a puncture, repairing it wont make much difference... but mine is still good after many months...
