Not sure, like Drifty said; clean your air filter (should have mentioned that first, mea culpa).Originally posted by white.warrior View PostThe smoothness is temporary? will changing to a different brand of oil help?
I stuck to the TVS brand oil for the first three services. I switched to Semi Synth (Motul) after 4000kays which gave me some good results.

queries about the ABS variant
nice clip! congrats for your new ride..Originally posted by aamirjamal View Post
Here's a walkaround vid I made today.
I have a few queries about the ABS variant:
- Are the TVS tyres any different from A180/160?
- I read earlier in this thread that TVS doesn't allow changing the tyres to other brands, is this true?
- Does the SVC's require special kit/software to service the ABS module?
- How is the DC electricals?

I went to the TVS A.S.S,the mechanic said probably the battery charge is low.As i went there in the evening it was about to close. My horns are working fine,so i think there is nothing wrong with the battery.
Please guys help me,i am very worried.
P.S Even when it the self didn't start 5 days ago,the self fired after riding for 5kms..Check if your battery is fine or not. What I mean is, get it checked from some battery waala shop in your locality if it is giving you the required voltage and current or not. (The SVC people won't do it for you) Maybe some or one of the cells of your battery is gone. I had the same problem, the horn and flasher were working fine. Just the starter wasn't. One of the 6 cells was dead and I just replaced the battery and everything is as good as earlier nowOriginally posted by Krish1417 View Post@Sambit-Bro,what would be the case with my bike?Swagat bhai (chicane)told probably the starter motor switch needs to be replaced.

Whoopsie! So many good wishes for my bike.
Thank You everyone.I would have loved to thank each one of you personally.
Thank you so much!
Back to Ownership niggles:
The first day with the bike has been pretty darn good. But the oil level is really low now.I had to switch back to Shell mineral oil from the AX7(Semi-synthetic) because I couldn't fine any dealer nearby having the AX7. But even then I am not able to tell the difference! The engine though tends to rev-a little bit slower than earlier and the gearshifts are notchy. It's been just 2 weeks since the oil change and level is already low.Is it because Shell comes in 900ml pack and the RTR crankcase demands 1000ml refill?
I am thinking to change the oil in another 100-200 km.Which is the cheapest synthetic/semi-synthetic oil in market as of the day? Budget is strictly under 700 bucks! If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Regarding all your queries, the ABS tires seem to grip the road much better than the regular 180's. I guess it's just a "brand new bike" thing or something :P
I do not have much experience regarding the tire change to aftermarket tires.
Yes, the showroom people asked me to bring my bike strictly to them shall anything go wrong (I just hope nothing of that sort ever happens)
The DC electricals serve their purpose real well. There's absolutely no flicker in the headlight beam and it gives a constant, bright glow even when the engine's switched off

A few friends of mine told me that it is important for me to hit 100 kmph or close to it atleast 2-3 times during the run-in period of the bike. I've completed 111 klicks in 2 days. Is it advisable to do so in the first 1000 km? They say that it improves performance in the long run. Please help me out regarding this

Experts should please step in, and shed some light for the above queryOriginally posted by aamirjamal View PostA few friends of mine told me that it is important for me to hit 100 kmph or close to it atleast 2-3 times during the run-in period of the bike. I am just sharing my limited knowledge about running in a motorcycle engine, below:
For the first 1000km keep the top end at under 50km/hr. Vary the engine speeds often, plus gradual throttle operation up to some 4k engine rpm and at the same time don't let the rev's drop below, say 2.5k especially in the higher gears. Avoid pillions and don't ride steep road/off road using higher gears i.e., don't let the engine work harder.
After 1000 km, the speeds should be built up very gradually along with the rpm. Don't know how to do this one exaclty
like doing 80km/hr for how much km and such.
Guys please don't LOL
, the speeds like the one you see on my new avatar is achieved by me ONLY on one straight near my place and that too under controlled conditions like very early mornings with almost zero traffic. I want all you guys to RIDE SAFE.
Damn i need a race track!!!
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

I too am searching for VFM oil. But cannot find anything other than castrol SS. But castrol SS is cheap (about 300 bucks and lasts like 1500 kms).Originally posted by shivank View PostWhich is the cheapest synthetic/semi-synthetic oil in market as of the day? Budget is strictly under 700 bucks!
Cannot find shell, elf or valvoline here in Delhi (Yet to search in Karol Bagh
)
And am permanently off MOTUL. It evaporates
I have used Motul 300v 10w40 since 5k kms and realized that it hardly lasts 2k kms (hence no VFM, it costs 875 bucks) and evaporates once in a while...

Check whether there are any loose connections in the wires & starter switch.Originally posted by Krish1417 View PostHi guys,my self-start didn't respond today(this is the 2nd time,i am facing

Obviously, you will have to fill 1000ml oil while 1100ml is required after disassembly of the crankcase. The oil level must be between min & max when you pour 1000ml of oil.BTW ,we do get Shell oil in 1litre pack.Originally posted by shivank View PostBack to Ownership niggles:

Dont go for Synthetic oils, waste of money & also you wont find much difference. In semi synthetic the best one is Motul 5100T 10W40,not easily available though.Currently am using Shell Advance AX-7 10W40(SS) and I am pretty impressed with it,much much better than Veedol Super swift(SS).Engine doesn't heat much as compared to the previous oil, gear shifts are smoother now.Originally posted by shivank View PostI am thinking to change the oil in another 100-200 km.Which is the cheapest synthetic/semi-synthetic oil in market as of the day? 1)TVS tyres on ABS version might be soft compound ones.Originally posted by vineshp View PostI have a few queries about the ABS variant:

2)You can change the tyre to any other brand provided you put back the same size/profile tyre i.e. Rear-110/80 Front-90/90.But changes in size of the tyres on ABS version might hamper the performance of the ABS!
3)Yes the ABS will require software to check for the proper working of it as the HECU is programmed
4)DC electricals just like any other DC bike!
Its called hard running in.A small burst for a short period of time is completely safe.Don't go above 60-70kmph if you had clocked just 100kms.Keep increasing the speed gradually after the first service so that it helps in better mating of the parts inside the engine.Originally posted by aamirjamal View PostA few friends of mine told me that it is important for me to hit 100 kmph or close to it atleast 2-3 times during the run-in period of the bike.
