The compression ratio will be very high if you do not use two gaskets. You piston may be forced for an abnormal operation due to the hig compression. Just assume a 190CC occupying the same space as the 180CC.

If you enlarge the Head ports appropriately as advised by Joel then there is no need for two gaskets.

You can use one single gasket as like the stock, or get the porting a bit more precise and even avoid a gasket, going traditional using Yamaha Bond adhesive to seal compression.

    • @prateek2210- the timing chain is for rs 450 check the google document of rtr 180 spare parts i have updated the details there.

@abhi- joel didnt explain much , he said just to do so.

@harishk- thnxx bro tht clarified my doubt totally, got every thing done today , didnt fiddle with the gaskets as the setup now is 2 under the bore and 1 above it. The tapets were very tight got them set to stock values given by joel, tht solved the prob. The compression is now 190 psi. But the only weird thing now is tht there is a whistle like sound when i ride at low rpms in low gears, the same which comes im splendors and unicorns

Part number of Throttle Switch Assembly is M7160210.

I don't know why most are changing the TPS. It is just a switch which should not go kaput as much as we see in the forum. The TPS helps to switch between just two ignition mapping for RTRs. A switch like this going bad is really remote. However, note that the TPS in RTRs needs adjustment. In my opinion, this is what the problem is with most of the hiccup issues reported here.

If the ignition mapping is switched to advanced mode too early, hiccups can occur at low RPMs - the throttle will not be open enough to allow enough fuel for the advanced ignition mode. Make sure the TPS and throttle plate are in sync. This should probably resolve the hiccup (jerking) issue.

Thnxx my main problem is not hiccups , the problem is tht on pressing the clutch the rpm gets stuck to 3 sometimes 4 and comes down to 1.4 really slowly. On my bike people have cleaned , tuned the carburettor N no of times but still no good. I had taken the bike to svc today. They did a CO test and the reading was 9.xx , even the tvs engineer from the office was here but could not do any good and after long time of applying their brains they said "CO bahut zyaada hai , Theek nai ho sakta"

now can anyone tell me what this problem is all about..??

About that ring thing, it may be called a 'Coupler' , not sure though!

Fill your tank little above reserve first.. then when it reaches reserve reset one of the trip meters. Then go and fill exactly 1 litre and again when it reaches reserve note down that trip meter which u had reset.. that will give a very close figure...! try it out few times to calculate the average!

about the rpm thing, even i had this problem sometime back.
tried everything from air filter cleaning, carb cleaning and adjustment, tappet adjustment, accelerator cable and what not! the culprit was actually faulty choke cable which was jammed and always made the mixture rich thus causing the rpm issue!!
btw mine was stock bike so there wasn't any compression issue! dunno if that causes the rpm to vary !

                            • Finally solved the problem, changing the choke cable also didnt help. The mechanic disconnected the wire of the TPS which is connected to the main wire along tci. The problem got resolved. I just wanted to knw tht will removing of this red wire create any problems on the long run...??

Is it a wire or socket which the Mech disconnected?
When I've experienced lag during 2.5K to 4.0K rpm, one of the Mech's at the SVC suggested to unplug the TPS. Yes, I've tried it. The lag would disappear, BUT, the initial engine response was missing. And the throaty roar from the exhaust, when throttle opened quickly especially at mid rpm, was not there as well. It's just the same tone. Also, felt the engine was not smooth post 6K rpm. Anyways, i didn't ride it like that with the TPS unplugged.

For me, replacing the TPS did the job. But, one should consider Zippo's suggestion as well. Refer his last post.

I know hiccups ain't the main problem of your ride. Just shared my experience while riding with the TPS unplugged

P.S. Not sure about this, but i feel the engine is idling pretty nice too after replacing the TPS. Previously, it used to get stuck at say 2.0K rpm while waiting at signal stops etc.,
