Which engine oil are you using?

        • ^^Good choice. But you should try either Motul 5100 10W40 or Shell Advance AX7 10W40, later. The feel at higher rev's is much better and consistent as well.
P.S. Suggested to try these SS engine oils as your ride has clocked way over 5 to 7K km already

When I've experienced lag during 2.5K to 4.0K rpm, one of the Mech's at the SVC suggested to unplug the TPS. Yes, I've tried it. The lag would disappear, BUT, the initial engine response was missing. And the throaty roar from the exhaust, when throttle opened quickly especially at mid rpm, was not there as well. It's just the same tone. Also, felt the engine was not smooth post 6K rpm. Anyways, i didn't ride it like that with the TPS unplugged.

For me, replacing the TPS did the job. But, one should consider Zippo's suggestion as well. Refer his last post.

I know hiccups ain't the main problem of your ride. Just shared my experience while riding with the TPS unplugged

P.S. Not sure about this, but i feel the engine is idling pretty nice too after replacing the TPS. Previously, it used to get stuck at say 2.0K rpm while waiting at signal stops etc.,

Oh sorry bro i didnt mention it clearly, the mechanic disconected the tps from the socket. The only difference i have noticed is the sound from the exhaust a bit different(better in my case) and the idling has been set to 1.2 and the mixture is just perfect(love my mech for tht). The ride is running fine and its not taking much time to touch speeds of 100+

Oh yeah Bro, at first i too liked the exhaust note when the TPS was unplugged. It was bit more loud and crisp. But with time i found the earlier mentioned con's. Add to that, at low rpm's when you give throttle, felt the engine was not responding quickly (I've already mentioned that). Like something was holding back the engine at those rpm. And the exhaust used to pop/back fire bit more loudly when the engine decelerated through 3K rpm (This vanished along with lag after installing a new TPS).

Okie Bro, it's your wish. Just shared my experience.

I earnestly request members who've info on this to please comment on con's of non-usage of TPS and correct me if wrong

                      • One question regarding the TPS... the wires from the TPS go into the wiring harness via a set of connectors. I see that the connector from TPS has more than 2 wires, but the one in the wiring harness has only 2. Is it same with you guys?

                          • This is my first post here.I joined xBHP to learn more than anything else, and with such helpful members ,I'm sure i will.

I have a few questions about my RTR

1.Will changing the clutch plates, decrease the performance of the bike?

2.I have done 0-60 in 4.3s which was about april 2010 (1100km 2 months).I believe that i have grown much as a rider since then but i am still not able to beat my own record. What is your best?( I relay envy chicane1879's 3.32 seconds)

3.Although i have taken care of my motorcycle to the best of my abilities. The is a distinct ever present noise from the cam chain ever since i bought it.My mechanic says it's inherent to all 1st gen RTRs and there is really nothing i can do about. My bike is the first batch sent to nepal (MFD jan2010) and many owners i have consulted are facing the same issue.Have any one of you ever had this problem?

Anyways This is it for my first post.I noticed this forum is pretty strict, and does my post need a query approved from the admins?

                                Welcome Buddy
Now, i too am in the learning process here in xBhp. And boy, it's so much worth joining here.
Why do you want to change the clutch plates? Is it time for it?
Your 0-60 timing is pretty impressive too I suggest don't push it any further. My bike was also manufactured in Jan2010. No issues with the timing chain though.
