The repair work was done under warranty, but i guess i saw something like 2800 INR being written somewhere, this happened a couple of months back i i didnt even take the bill so dont have the part number.Originally posted by Drifty View PostIts the 'gear shift shaft' they had replaced,a thin rod attached with a spring tensioner on it.But strange this thing requires 'running -in' as stated by the service engineer you said. Please mention what all problems you faced earlier before replacing the part. And is it a whistling kinda noise?Check again and confirm if its from gearbox or the engine side!
Btw,what's the cost of the shift shaft and part number ?.
The part change was done because my bike was not going beyong 8.5k rpm, it was touching 8.5k rpm then a hiccup comes in and the rpm drops to about 7k something then again slowly increases to 8.5k rpm and hiccup and same story.
Actually it is difficult to understand where this sound is coming from, because its coming only in the fourth gear, i can assure you that its not chain/sprocket and i'm even sure its not coming when i hold/press the clutch.Apache 180

Hey Guys,Just did a 4.1 sec 0-60 run today.Bike's running perfect.I have a question about the TPS.I Know the TCI unit but I don't know about the TPS.Does the TPS make any difference whatsoever?.If any of you guys have a photo of it i would be thankful.I want to try and disconnect mine just for experimentation and observation.

now i'm confuse someone above mention that 3 to 3 half and u said 1 1/2 but the factory setting is 2.25 i've checked when i bought the bike, today i tuned it to factory setting but the result is speed decrease for a second then comes to normal what u call hiccup? maybe choke is the culprit, engine stall when i engage the choke.Originally posted by Viscmad View PostWarm up your bike, drive for 10 to 15 min, after that rotate the rpm screw clockwise to increase the rpm to 2.5k den open the throttle up to 4k and keep it there for a while.
Now when thats done turn the Air/Fuel screw to 1 and half anti-clockwise from full closed position.
Once again open up the throttle for a while and take it upto 5-6k rpm and turn the rpm screw anti-clockwise to decrease the rpm and set it to 1.4k
And now the idling should be stable and the throttle should be crispy. But the most imp thing is that when you close the throttle the rpm should some down quick.

try searching on the net for carb tuning articles
Hope this helps.
As far as i know Engine stall using choke usually means engine flooding.i.e Too much fuel and too little air in the combustion chamber for fuel to burn. Your engine i recon is getting too rich a mixture.
If you want pros to handle it then go to SVC. If you are from Kathmandu Nepal,Go to AIT TVS Service station(Tripureshwor) and ask for Rupesh Regmi and tell him to tune your carb and choke. He and Madan(don't know last name are the best there)Last edited by deception; 11-25-2011, 10:10 AM.

My roommate has Apache 180 , and recently got the oil change to Motul 3100 15W50 (Semi synth), now the mechanic says the clutch plate is gone.
Not ridden too my of apache, so i do not have much idea about the bike.
Need expert advice on the grade of oil they are using in the bike and why 15 W50 is bad for the bike.RIP Marco

Guys, slight change in what i said earlier...
The sound is coming even when i press the clutch, its very feeble and not audible in high traffic... i have ridden it in deserted places and was able to hear the sound when the clutch is pressed in the 4th gear but i'm 100% sure that the sound is not coming in the other gears.
So, can anyone tell me what my problem is?
It it clutch plates?... a friend was saying that clutch plates would cost 2-3k... i thought it was 700-800...Apache 180

15w50 is a thicker oil,it will make your acceleration low, your top speed will decrease.Better revert back to 20w40 for good!Originally posted by vkuchhal View PostMy roommate has Apache 180 , and recently got the oil change to Motul 3100 15W50 (Semi synth), now the mechanic says the clutch plate is gone.

Cannot guess anything just from the sound, better way get the clutch plates inspected from the SVC itself and let us know.Originally posted by saipranav View Post@Drifty and vineshp
