(4) tune the carb several times still throttle needle is not stable and last what's the optimal tunning ? is it 2.25 or 3 full revolution from fully closed...... pls tell me what is the problem, ...this world be great help..
Warm up your bike, drive for 10 to 15 min, after that rotate the rpm screw clockwise to increase the rpm to 2.5k den open the throttle up to 4k and keep it there for a while.
Now when thats done turn the Air/Fuel screw to 1 and half anti-clockwise from full closed position.
Once again open up the throttle for a while and take it upto 5-6k rpm and turn the rpm screw anti-clockwise to decrease the rpm and set it to 1.4k

And now the idling should be stable and the throttle should be crispy. But the most imp thing is that when you close the throttle the rpm should some down quick.

Today when i gave slight throttle for starting the bike, a 'Tick" sound was heard from the throttle grip area, and the throttle grip has become very loose. It has that roll back action, but it's loose and the engine is not responding to the inputs as well. What could have gone kaput guy's?
              Waiting for any advice.
bro if the engine is not responding to the throtle , then its a faulty throtle cable, change it . Its rs 160 at the svc

                • Well guys, i'm coming back to this thread after a long time, and have a lot of queries. Hope to get them solved here.

Some time back i had a problem with my bike and TVS Engineer replaced some part from the gear box(gear box shaft or something like that).
After that replacement the bike was making some "weeee" kind of sound, this sound was coming from the gear box, i know it was coming from the gear box because the sound does not come when i engage the clutch.

The mechanic said the sound would be gone after runnign for a few hundred kilometers, a couple of thousand kilometers passed by and the problem has gone away from all gears except the 4th gear, the sound is still there, my friend says the sound is because of worn out clutch plates(bike is 19k+ kilometers old now).

So, is this problem with the clutch plate or something else?

                  • how can a clutch produce such sound? Dont think apache's clutch is made up of metal!

its not a metallic sound... its more like whistling sound (i guess this sound is very common among splendors and passions...)

Could this be coming from worn chain/sprocket? Check these buddy..

no dude, its definitely not the chain/sprocket, they are pretty new and they have a different sound, i'm pretty sure the sound if from the gear box related issue

Ok,so what is the clearance at the inlet now?Valve clearance plays major role in the initial pickup/top end and smoothness of the bike.I had myself set it many many number of times and now happy with 0.07mm gap at both inlet and exhaust valves.

Its the 'gear shift shaft' they had replaced,a thin rod attached with a spring tensioner on it.But strange this thing requires 'running -in' as stated by the service engineer you said. Please mention what all problems you faced earlier before replacing the part. And is it a whistling kinda noise?Check again and confirm if its from gearbox or the engine side!
Btw,what's the cost of the shift shaft and part number ?.
