Sent a mail to '[email protected]' and got a call after one hour, he asked all details and told to call him when I leave the bike again for change of bore and piston.
He said only after analysis, they can clarify on why it needed replacement.
So will wait until I get the spares and will keep you guys posted on the status.

Left my ABS for service last week-end. The mechanic pointed me that the oil is way too low and told to keep a check on it often.
So after one week and 500 kms of oil change (Shell AX7 semi-synthetic), checked oil level and found it to be like close to minimum. So took it back to service centre and asked about it.
They told to leave for one day and when I checked the next day. They said that the bore and piston is gone. My ABS has only done 6000 Kms in the odo.
They said it is possible for bore and piston to wear out at any km range, cant predict it.
So guys please throw some light on why it could have happen? I couldnt get any further info from SVC people.

How far will the change affect my new bike??
Has anyone faced such issue on a new bike(3 months/6400 kms)??

Currently they are waiting for spares and they have returned the bike saying it could be driven normally until they get the spares.

PS: They didnt mention anything about the cost, they said as if it will be replaced within warranty.

Should I check on something before doing it? I am lil worried since I didnt expect to even touch my new bikes engine in such short time.

if there is play in crank then bore and piston will get damaged , this i think happens due to bad crank bearing thats your hard luck man, company will provide parts(head , piston and crank) and labour for free i think they charge for oil seals, oil, clutch plates as far as i know and you have to change them as you are building new engine.
my point is bore and piston gone bad but you find the reason first otherwise if they just change block and piston and problem persist like crank bearing then they will again go bad .

The SVC people have accepted to change it under warranty but it is their approach that is so irritating. For them its just another bike and they speak changing bore and piston same as changing some rear view mirror.

I previously owned a CBZ Classic and when I rebored, I started getting problem with timing chain and it could never be fixed.

Is changing bore and piston something thats acceptable in a new bike or is it me who is seeing it as a big issue??
I have asked the engineers from TVS itself to analyse the issue and let me the reason for it going bad.

Please guide me on how to handle it.
What should I do if they say that it is their defect?
What should I do if they say that it is because of my driving? (Which really cant be true coz I take real good care of it)

I know that I dont have much choice but to get it all fixed by them but please let me know if I have any other choice.

Escalate the issue to senior officials in TVS. The Manager of the SVC where you usually get your bike serviced should get instructions from above.
Read a few experiences on xBhp, I guess they are there in the RTR 160 thread also-take appropriate action. Faulty engines are the worst reputation an automobile company can get.
Use resources like internet to the fullest.
Insist on getting free replacements as the piece you got was faulty. They should themselves come after a month or two to take your feedback.
This is not easier said than done. It is your attitude that will get you the best of this.
I have seen many dissatisfied owners coming back&posting with smiles on their face&being well cared for by the same SVC.
Bikes are not bad, SVC is due to huge no. of bikes.

About reboring, dont worry,it wont affect the performance or anything.
And I dont think they will make you pay for it,except the labour charge.

Hii If you are looking for mileage then fz will give you around 40kms per litre and my apache rtr is giving me with sane riding around 48kms and for bajaj i dont know how much.Rtr has awsome handling and yes ABS really works that well.If you compare these bikes for power than RTR is the best followed by fz and then b135.You said your 6 feet tall in that case Rtr may look small and fz will look proportionate but you will losse out on mileage and power.
PS:The mileage figures for RTR is what i get riding at 60kms around 4k rpm and my mileage has never gone below 40kms

Even I doubt if its just the tappets. Coz, tappet noise ain't that big issue that none of those 3 mechanics couldn't rectify. Make sure it ain't anything else.
