Not sure, like Drifty said; clean your air filter (should have mentioned that first, mea culpa).

I stuck to the TVS brand oil for the first three services. I switched to Semi Synth (Motul) after 4000kays which gave me some good results.

if bike not starting in gears, then the clutch switch needs to be replaced.cost Rs.45/-. if it still doesnot start, then change the clutch liver.I had to change both, now its working fine.

nice clip! congrats for your new ride..

I have a few queries about the ABS variant:
                • Are the TVS tyres any different from A180/160?
                • I read earlier in this thread that TVS doesn't allow changing the tyres to other brands, is this true?
                • Does the SVC's require special kit/software to service the ABS module?
                • How is the DC electricals?

                hope you don't mind answering!

I went to the TVS A.S.S,the mechanic said probably the battery charge is low.As i went there in the evening it was about to close. My horns are working fine,so i think there is nothing wrong with the battery.
Please guys help me,i am very worried.
P.S Even when it the self didn't start 5 days ago,the self fired after riding for 5kms..

Check if your battery is fine or not. What I mean is, get it checked from some battery waala shop in your locality if it is giving you the required voltage and current or not. (The SVC people won't do it for you) Maybe some or one of the cells of your battery is gone. I had the same problem, the horn and flasher were working fine. Just the starter wasn't. One of the 6 cells was dead and I just replaced the battery and everything is as good as earlier now

                    • Whoopsie! So many good wishes for my bike.

Thank You everyone.I would have loved to thank each one of you personally.

                      Thank you so much!

                      Back to Ownership niggles:

The first day with the bike has been pretty darn good. But the oil level is really low now.I had to switch back to Shell mineral oil from the AX7(Semi-synthetic) because I couldn't fine any dealer nearby having the AX7. But even then I am not able to tell the difference! The engine though tends to rev-a little bit slower than earlier and the gearshifts are notchy. It's been just 2 weeks since the oil change and level is already low.Is it because Shell comes in 900ml pack and the RTR crankcase demands 1000ml refill?

I am thinking to change the oil in another 100-200 km.Which is the cheapest synthetic/semi-synthetic oil in market as of the day? Budget is strictly under 700 bucks!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

                        Thanks

Regarding all your queries, the ABS tires seem to grip the road much better than the regular 180's. I guess it's just a "brand new bike" thing or something :P

I do not have much experience regarding the tire change to aftermarket tires.

Yes, the showroom people asked me to bring my bike strictly to them shall anything go wrong (I just hope nothing of that sort ever happens)

The DC electricals serve their purpose real well. There's absolutely no flicker in the headlight beam and it gives a constant, bright glow even when the engine's switched off

                        • A few friends of mine told me that it is important for me to hit 100 kmph or close to it atleast 2-3 times during the run-in period of the bike. I've completed 111 klicks in 2 days. Is it advisable to do so in the first 1000 km? They say that it improves performance in the long run. Please help me out regarding this

Experts should please step in, and shed some light for the above query

I am just sharing my limited knowledge about running in a motorcycle engine, below:
For the first 1000km keep the top end at under 50km/hr. Vary the engine speeds often, plus gradual throttle operation up to some 4k engine rpm and at the same time don't let the rev's drop below, say 2.5k especially in the higher gears. Avoid pillions and don't ride steep road/off road using higher gears i.e., don't let the engine work harder.

After 1000 km, the speeds should be built up very gradually along with the rpm. Don't know how to do this one exaclty like doing 80km/hr for how much km and such.

Guys please don't LOL , the speeds like the one you see on my new avatar is achieved by me ONLY on one straight near my place and that too under controlled conditions like very early mornings with almost zero traffic. I want all you guys to RIDE SAFE.

Damn i need a race track!!!

I too am searching for VFM oil. But cannot find anything other than castrol SS. But castrol SS is cheap (about 300 bucks and lasts like 1500 kms).

Cannot find shell, elf or valvoline here in Delhi (Yet to search in Karol Bagh )

And am permanently off MOTUL. It evaporates I have used Motul 300v 10w40 since 5k kms and realized that it hardly lasts 2k kms (hence no VFM, it costs 875 bucks) and evaporates once in a while...
