Will immediately change to BOSCH twin electrode... I was actually thinking of using a NGK iridium suggested by gixxer junkie (since im planning to use joel's big bore as soon as my warranty is over... probably the iridium will do some justice...) but i dont know if the iridium will have any bad effect on my stock bike...

Sent them a query regarding the spark plug issue... cant blame the TVS ASC people directly... it could have been even lifted at some parking lot or something...

Hi All,
This is Sureshkumar. I have been reading this thread silently for long time. I am planning to buy a new bike. I am totally impressed by TVS apache RTR 180 ABS but I want a very new model from tvs. Is there any new bike arriving from TVS? Kindly suggest me whether to go with Apache 180 ABS or can I wait for any new arrival from TVS....
All for the best!! Just Go Ahead!!

Place the ball of the foot on the footpeg, and not the heel or any other portion of the foot. In this way, you 're supposed to 'reach' for the gear shifter or the rear brake rather than keeping your foot on either of them. Once the job is done, shift back to the 'balls of the feet-on-the-footpegs' position.Originally posted by vineshp View PostNow it seems my body has adapted to the riding posture of Apache. Wrist pain/back pain gone now. The forward riding position feels good while braking.
The only thing is I keep my heel on foot peg and toe on gear shift lever and after 15-20 minutes of riding the ankle starts to pain. If I take the toe from gear shift lever and keep it pointed towards ground, it feels better but it's uncomfortable in long rides.
PS: If you aren't clear with the anatomy of the human feet, try 'Ball of the foot' on Google. Hope it helps.

I don't think he's having a problem with the actual location of the foot on the peg, rather the angle of the shifter.
To lower the shifter, you have to remove the shifter 'boss' from the shifter shaft and rotate the adjustable linkage (the long rod) till it's at a comfortable height. If you're confused, just go to any decent roadside mech who'll explain it to you.

The stock setting of the gear shifter is the BEST.Lowering down will cause the shifter shaft to touch the side stand.Tried it.Originally posted by julianpaul View PostTo lower the shifter, you have to remove the shifter 'boss' from the shifter shaft and rotate the adjustable linkage (the long rod) till it's at a comfortable height. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!
These TVS people are getting on to my nerves...
I called them to ask what the actual problem is and they said the problem is not with the gear box but some part located near it called "clutch-shaft" or something like that, he also said that he cant start working on the bike until he receives the part ... they said they are unable to get the part due to telangana bandh... WTF is this... all offices are working without any regard to telangana bandh and this fellow is bull-shitting me... I asked him to return my bike and said ill give it to him again when ever he get the part... He said he has already opened the bike and wont give it back until the problem is fixed.
**** these morons... i feel like selling off my bike...
Can't he just get the part from other TVS ASC's... I'm sure MDH Racing has this part(they have lot of stok generally)... ill try calling them after some time.Last edited by saipranav; 09-23-2011, 06:25 PM.Apache 180

The Mechanics have no clue to the problem in your bike....the clutch shaft ,just like the gear they said earlier,is another excuse, and not the problem...I think it is high time you contacted the higher ups in the TVS and get your bike back in one piece....Originally posted by saipranav View PostFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!

Did you mail to any higher officials at TVS on the kind of service these guys provide?
Typing and posting here will only give you a handful of sympathies and nothing else. You just need to CONTACT some higher officials. They will be quick in solving out your troubles. If there's one thing I like about TVS, after my RTR (
), is the promptness with which they deal with customer problems.
I am sure, you won't be disappointed this time. Get it done before they open each and every screw of your bike to understand where exactly is the problem!
Good luck!If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

I ride the same way. Was difficult at first because you've got to reach for the levers every time you shift/brake and then place the foot, back. But once you get used to it, there's nothing like it
Resting the ball of the foot on the peg feels so sporty and you feel better control over the bike. Looks cool too. No offense to anyone, just my opinion. Might not be a solution to vineshp's query too.

Buddy, no news as regards TVS rolling out a new bike very soon. But you can't tell. They might roll out a more powerful RTR series or a street fighter to compete with the FZ16, in the near future.Originally posted by sureshcsc View PostHi All,

It's you to decide whether to go for the Apache RTR 180 ABS version or wait for a new bike from TVS

He said it is indeed a problem with the gear shaft, he called up MDH guys and made arrangements for the parts... but my bike will be available only on monday
I told him about the lazy behaviour of Shanthi TVS guys and he said he'll look into the matter(the usual response)Apache 180

Not at all. I've done it on mine, and i know others who have too. Your side stand tab might be bent upwards (happens if you drop the bike on the left side). The stock setting is too high and cramps your foot upwards. Ideally, the foot should be at roughly 90 degrees to the leg.Originally posted by Drifty View PostThe stock setting of the gear shifter is the BEST.Lowering down will cause the shifter shaft to touch the side stand.Tried it.
