You are trying to do 30-50 in first gear and you tell you know redlining the engine is not good? Good!

And if you are damn good at shifting gears, let me also remind you of one more scenario that you had forgotten to add here..

S4: 30-50kph in second gear..That's the fastest way to reach there.

If you think you need a stopwatch for this, then you should buy one asap.

Not trying to start a war here but I never said you are naive or dumb at gear-shifting! You might say,it isn't rocket science but the way you replied was like hearing a comment from a NASA scientist..

Keep it cool, buddy. How does it matter to me if you are brilliant/good/bad/worst at it?
You dont need to tell me whether i should buy a stop watch or not, i posted something, if you want to reply to it straight, do it, dont just blabber anything because you wanted to... i dont even want to read your entire post, how can you even write so much .... ....

This is a forum. You read here.No one comes to your home to tell you anything..

Anyway,do tell me when you reach to 50kph in first gear.It would be helpful to know how not to redline but reach this figure..I am blabbering you please prove your point..

I am out of this.Good luck to your bike.

        • Cold Starting and Idling RPM

Guys, I have been having a bit of trouble with cold starting these days. Even with choke it takes too many kicks to get my bike running. I later discovered that the svc guy had set the idling rpm at 1K. Would that have any effect on cold start?
Actually I discussed the issue of Idling rpm with him at length but he kept on saying that the 1400rpm in the manual and brochures is when the engine is hot. I replied that manual only says idling rpm not when hot or cold.
Any ways increasing the idling rpm solved my cold start issue but is that the real solution?

That's the HECU(Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit) of the ABS version. At the time of wheel getting locked, HECU takes over the control, modulates the brake pressure continuously to keep the bike in the most effective braking zone, thus ensuring precise maneuvers.

THe SVC guy was right.. The idling rpm should be 1400 when the engine is hot and idling should not be set when the engine is cold.

Serivce indicator does not have any sensors It's already programmed so that the service light pops up at definite intervals referring to the 1st service, 2nd service and 3rd service and it goes on. The purpose of this light is to remind the owner for timely service

Then may be i am not kicking correctly. I hold down the choke for about 30 secs and then give a full kick after releasing it. Also Apache 180 seems to have a harder kick than pulsars.
Any other technique i should be using ?

I haven't used the choke even once. I just switch on the ignition and kick start her with mild or no throttle, she starts within a kick or two and I don't find the kicker too hard!

How much has your bike clocked?

Done 560 kms. First service yesterday. I don't use throttle when kicking. and whenever it starts i see the idling needle a little below 1k. is that OK?

I guess it is okay at cold start. Anyway, u can adjust the idling rpm by the vertical screw near the carb and DO NOT ADJUST WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. Drive around for 10kms and adjust it when the engine gets warm. 1.2-1.4rpm is good for a hot engine.

                              • Guys, my RTR's tacho now rests at 0.3k rpm mark by default. Any ideas how to bring it back to it's original location?
