Ok. Here is the latest finding. With ABS OFF, the rear brake works perfectly. The brake has a good grip. The tyre skidded too
. However with ABS ON, the rear brake is as good as absent. The front disc works perfectly though... Seems to be some ABS module issue.

Will be taking my bike to SVC on saturday. Hope they fix this issue ASAP.

Maybe the gear box is little hard, you can get it fixed after servicing. But still sometimes you may find it going to neutral( this time very very rarelyOriginally posted by prateekm View PostErr, I meant, I am finding that it goes into the neutral gear when I am not expecting it! Like, when I shift from 1 to 2, sometimes (rarely) it will go into the neutral. Hope I am explaining it properly, I am a noob when it comes to biking terms.

try re-tuning your carb with a good mech if u think its carb settings probOriginally posted by saipranav View PostHey guys... i need some info, what are the signs of a damaged clutch plate... when my carb was changed and my pickup dropped(AND i have hardly touching 110 speed... wheres as i previously touched 135...), i went to castrol bike zone and asked hiom to change my carb settings, he said that my clutch plate or some clutch thing was damaged and i need to replace it... but when i went to TVS A.S.S. after that he said its just improper carb settings and said he will fix it... I would like to know if there are any symptoms of damaged clutch which i can observe myself...
Thanks for the info...
Hey guys, i went to TVS ASC and asked him to check if the clutch plates were gone, he went for a ride(i saw him riding and he didnt cross 30-40...) and said it just requires carb re setting and nothing else... i left the bike there for about 30 hours... yes 30 hours and he returned with retuned carb setting... the bike had better pick up now... i was satisfied for the time being and went back home(this was yesterday) but i just returned from a ride and now the bike as pathetic as before... ITS HARDLY CROSSING 100... current 90-110(And that 110 came up very very very late) is like previous 120-135... i mean why the **** do these people deny that there is any problem...
I'm unable to go above 100 on stretches where i daily touch 118...
One more thing i observed is... when i am crossing 90+ i feel as though the the bike is stopping for a minute fraction of a second... this never happened before...
The ASC guy CLEARLY DENIED THAT THE CLUTCH PLATE IS DAMAGED
@dead_piper: i didnt understand what exactly you mean by a lag... and i guess de cluch means releasing the clutch with the left hand...
somebody help me please... im in a very bad condition...Last edited by saipranav; 09-15-2011, 03:10 PM.Apache 180

Do one thing first, try and find out how's the acceleration in relation to the RPM.That is,does the bike rev easily and yet doesn't perform?Originally posted by saipranav View PostHey guys, i went to TVS ASC and asked him to check if the clutch plates were gone, he went for a ride(i saw him riding and he didnt cross 30-40...) and said it just requires carb re setting and nothing else... i left the bike there for about 30 hours... yes 30 hours and he returned with retuned carb setting... the bike had better pick up now... i was satisfied for the time being and went back home(this was yesterday) but i just returned from a ride and now the bike as pathetic as before... The lag is the stopping in revs thing you mentioned about,it's a carb thing.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

May be still a problem with carb. Also get your carb diaphragm checked. How many kms your bike has done?Originally posted by saipranav View PostHey guys, i went to TVS ASC and asked him to check if the clutch plates were gone, he went for a ride(i saw him riding and he didnt cross 30-40...) and said it just requires carb re setting and nothing else... i left the bike there for about 30 hours... yes 30 hours and he returned with retuned carb setting... the bike had better pick up now... i was satisfied for the time being and went back home(this was yesterday) but i just returned from a ride and now the bike as pathetic as before... @saipranav
i think its the carb settings. did u mess with the jets? i had this problem when i was fiddling with pulsar jets on my rtr (jus did some experiments for hill climb drag sometime back., didnt work so changed it back) :P
let me guess one thing here which u havent mentioned - the rpm doesnt cross 9k or 10k. is that right?

No... i have not fiddled with the jets or the carb settings... and as for the carb settings... the ASC guy changed it yesterday...
@abhi46... never heard of that kind of prob... can you tell me what i should ask the ASC guy to do regarding this... i dont think he will understand diaphragm because these people say pharak instead of fork... and are totally illitrate... and god damn lazy...Last edited by saipranav; 09-15-2011, 09:23 PM.Apache 180

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
[QUOTE]The rear sprocket is fine. The damn screw holding the cabinet covering the front screw refuses to budge (any ideas). The chain too looks fine.its not your chain. its your sprocket which has gone bad and is making the chain be loose. and also your sprocket rubber. put some lube to the chain for the time being. do check your sprocket once
There's no loss in acceleration or top speed. Just the noise when I rotate the wheel. Plus the tyre does not rotate freely (it stops within one rotation. Is this natural)

@sai - ever heard of people here complaining to the higher officials???

So i took to my last resort, sent a mail to the tvs higher executives, they called me back in 5 minutes max, they apologized for the inconvenience i faced and assured me that they will solve my problem. He said he will repair my bike in the shortest time possible.

Hope God blesses my bike to be as good as yours and for lots of touring to happen!Originally posted by dead_piper View Postyeah its been pretty long. in the mean time i did a bangalore-ooty run, bangalore-anantpur run, bangalore-hosreley hills run, bangalore-kanva run. planning for pondy, coorg and kodachadri in next couple of months. :P
19000 kms - one year 3 months - loads of touring - rear tire change - plug change. bike stills runs as good as new.
My ride's ODO is now 275 Kms.For run-in, I can't care much when riding in city. So, in weekends,I am taking the bike to highways and starting from 1st gear, rev up smoothly till 4k RPM, then shift to next gear and repeat till 5th gear-4K RPM. Then reduce RPM,down shift at 2k to lower gear and repeat this. Also I vary RPM in every gear i.e increase/decrease in 2k-4k range. The idea being to run in all gear/rpm. Is this good? Please share your views.
Also, for <1000Kms, How much time you can ride continuously?Grip. Twist. Ride-with Menacingly FAST Apache 180 ABS!
