  • Nice Experience i Had today eveniong in blore, as soon as is started from work it started raining heavily, i had to travle 20kms back so stoipping was not on my mind. WAs not able to close visors as visibility was already low(oh btw i wear specatcles ) when ever i hit 50+ rain drops would slap on my face asking to slow down, front discs failed dont know why was relying totally on rear drums At one point the visibility was totally nill i practically followed a car tail light when ever i saw it bouncing up and down i knew it was pot hole (man rode like this for a km). At forum mall the roads were flooded water level was almost at the engine oil dipper it didnt stop me nor my bike just went on and on. All the while Riders on the storm was going on in ma head (auto repeat ) one hell of a ride tonight

    • :P i used to be a regular here n not much nowadays coz of busy schedule., but whenever i come here i usually see people only complaining about the rides. no idea why i don see more happy faces here.
not just here i think but usually a rtr owner is happy only up to a certain time with the bike. we had 7 rtr 180s in the gang but now only 3 remains. latest one got sold last week. i just wonder will that time ever come to me. i just hope not coz i love this bike n it hasn't given me any problems.

          @dead_piper

Well, sad to hear that. Though, I've never heard something like this from anywhere else, I wish its just a different case with the guys who've already sold their babes.

Anyways, long time man! Good to see you back.

I too haven't had any problems with the bike till t'day. I try to keep it in good shape as far as i can. Mom often complains about me sparing so much time with the menace

I'am NOT saying this out of pride, but two sincere Mechs at my SVC have told me that my menace has got more pick up and smoothness (they are all smiles when seeing me at the SVC). I think it's because i, like many Apachian's did the run-in properly, did the services promptly, and attending quickly to any niggle that might come up.

he said don't just extend the kick lever and start kicking like crazy. He instead asked me to gently press the kick lever as far as it goes without actually kicking it. A point will come when the lever will become stiff. It is at this point that you should always start and end your kicking motion. I tried it. And within 2 kicks the bike came to life.
Try this if you aren't doing it already.

                  • Hello everyone!!
I have some doubts, please clarify if someone could, although they might be noob type.
1)In the first photo, I'm holding the spanner for shock-abs. If I apply force in the held direction, will it be hard (for rough, patchy roads) or soft(for plain roads)? I know it is there in manual, but I'm a bit confused about it.
                    2) In the second photo, I have a black rubber cover at the beginning of clutch lever. In the third image, it is not there for the front break lever, is it like that only or am I missing it?
                    3) Could someone posts pics for where I could find spark plug, brake pad wear indicator? Coz it is given there in User manual to check it, but I'm unable to locate it on bike. Also, is it safe to check it Myself?
                    4) I check oil level each sunday. I have noticed that whenever I remove the cap, there is some dirt beneath, on the ring, no matter how tight I fit it. Is it ok or should I get it checked?
5)I have noticed that when I remove the petrol cap, the rubber seems to be a bit out of it's place, just a little bit. Can it lead to petrol evaporation?

Edit: My Bad!! Forgot to add the pics!!

He says, that guy (I'd be happy if it's you) has got everything installed in his bike. A FFE, projector headlamps and wears a LS2 helmet ( I remember, you purchased a LS2 sometime back). So, is it you my friend envious of or some other guy?

i also thought of fitting larger rear tyre of pulsar 220, 120/80..17...but when i carefully look at the swing arm, i realize its not possible cuz not enough space to fit wider tyres...

well, actually you can easily fit the 120/80 rear tire in apache...
I already have mine fitted with IRC rubbers...no swing arm adjustments are required..the rims are small, which squeezes the tires and hence the diameter also increases to some extent....
After effects: improved milage and top end...very negligible drop in acceleration.
and grips are amazing now, gives full confidencs during panic braking...

can someone tell me, pulsar 180 rear tyre 120/80/17 direct fit to A180 ?, bcuz i feel that there's no room for extra 10 mm wider tyre due to small swing arm, any suggestion ???

                                1) and 2) what pics? i don't see any pic whatsoever

                                2) see the third attached pic of orange Fi. if you are talking about the circled part having no rubber cover then yeah its like that only.

                                3) see the 1st attached pic of white RTR. there is a rubber_elbow_bend kind of a thing on the right side of the engine. Pull it up with your hand. This will expose the spark plug. Then use the 10mm box spanner given in your toolkit to unscrew the spark plug.
regarding the brake pads, just bend in front of the disc and try to get a close look at it. refer the second attached pic to get an estimate of how much is too much. When the middle grooves seen in the new brake pads (right brake pad of the 2nd pic) start to shallow out and disappear(left brake pad in the 2nd pic), you should change them.

                                4) see if the ring is completely covered in dirt. If yes, it is not a big issue if the amount of dirt is minor, but get it rectified when you find time. If no, then dont worry, until nothing goes in or comes out, everything will be fine.
Btw, check the oil level after every 400-500kms or 2-3 weeks interval. Thats enough.

                                5) I dont know what to say. It is pretty normal but if you really want to check, then keep your bike in the sun for 4-5 mins. Try smelling around the cap to see if you can smell petrol. Else check your mileage. If you are getting a satisfactory figure, then just forget about it.
