if not can the R15 cruising at the above mentioned speeds and RPMS??
It can very well do it. If your ride time is like say 10+hrs, I suggest you do an oil change a day or two before the ride, irrespective of the regular oil change interval. And yeah, take breaks atleast every 90 mins (atleast pity your back side ). Most importantly, ride calm and safe

    • Which Engine Oil to use ?

      Hello Guys !!
Please recommend me the Engine oil i should put in my apache 180 ABS, the bike is due for second servicing, i had used TVS oil in my first servicing(everyone knows it sucks).

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The reason why I asked is, I saw an apache 180 ABS in the sun shine (around 11AM) it look really good. But in the dull light it is looking like ordinary white color (Just like white paint).. What ever it is, the bike is a real performer... I love it
All for the best!! Just Go Ahead!!

It doesn't. It may not be the best but it is not bad. Still if you don't like it, you can go for Shell's AX5 or AX3.

          • TVS as indefinitely postponed the repair of my bike because they dont know when they will receive the courier with the part.

I sent a mail again to the TVS higher officials, lets see if something happens.

            Dear Sir,
I'm having a TVS Apache RTR 180 2010 model. In the first week of this month i gave my bike to 'TVS Shanthi' people complaining that my bike is not crossing 8k rpm. They said they had worked on it and returned the bike to me after some time(They kept bike bike for about 3-4 days). But the problem still remained as it is! I again went back to them complaining about the problem and this time they returned the bike to me saying that there is NO problem at all!!!... I have visited the servicing center on 16th,19th and 20th. This irked me and i complained to the TVS engineer Mr.Subramanyam, he called the Shanthi TVS people and asked them come on a test ride with me and check the problem. The mechanic came along with me to the outer ring road which is very far away from the city and finally understood what the actual problem is!!!
And this was on 21st September.
I have no idea why the TVS people didn't care top do a proper test ride till now. I dont understand what they have been doing with my bike when i left it at the Shanthi ASC two times before this.

The mechanic said that there is a problem in the gear shaft/gear box and it needs to be replaced.

9 days have passed and i still have no idea why the Shanthi TVS people have not yet received the part. They are blaming this on telangana bandh saying couriers are not being delivered promptly which is idiotic because DTDC and professional courier offices are close to my home and i see them working daily, in fact everyone except TVS is working properly everyday

23rd september:-I called up MDH racing and they confirmed me that the particular part is available, i informed this to the TVS people and after a long battle on the phone they finally agreed to source the part from MDH people and get the work done by the coming monday. When i called them on monday(26th), then they are telling me that the part available with MDH is outdated/old stock or something and said they will have to source the part from the TVS factory and that my bike will be available in a few more days, today when i called them up they are telling me that they cant do the repair until i get the part and they dont know when that part is going to come!!!
In between i even asked them to re assemble my bike and give it back until the part arrives but they refused to do so...

THE MOST IRRITATING THING ABOUT MY ENTIRE EXPERIENCE.
1.There were at least 4 TVS people who were asking me why i need to go above 8k rpm/100kmph... WELL ITS MY DAMN BIKE, AND I DIDNT SPEND 80,000+ money to go on a bike @ 40 kmph, any body who has minimum knowledge about RTR 180 knows that the bike is one of the few Indian bikes which is capable of high RPM's.

2.The way in which Shanthi TVS people talk to their customers is sick!!!.

3.I talked to Shanthi TVS owner Balvir Singh and even he is asking me why i'm riding the bike above 8k rpm. Does anyone think i'm fool to buy a 180cc bike when bajaj is selling a 180cc for 7000 cheaper price.

4.I would like to ask Shanthi TVS why they dont do their job properly in the first place.
I would like to remind you people that this is the 2nd time i'm complaining about Shanthi TVS, the previous complaint was made when Shanthi TVS people refused to replace a part on my bike under warranty and asked me for money, and the reason they gave is that i brought the bike from a different TVS Authorised dealership.
I would like to know if you people have taken any action regarding the previous complaint.

And i would like to give one suggestion to you. Never give Balvir Sing's contact info to any of your customers, his style of talking can irritate even the most calm people, he is never is a mood to listen to the customer, all he does is scream at the top of his voice and cut the phone!!!

            • Anyone knows how to properly clean, lube the throttle cable? My throttle seems to be sticky even after cleaning it with petrol. Can I use WD-40 to clean, followed by 2T oil for lubing purposes?Or grease?I know grease cant enter fully inside the cable but it can be applied at the ends to prevent dust from getting in?
It ll be nice if someone post a pic of the routing of the throttle cable :-)

In my case i mailed at 7 in the evening and got a apology call by 8 from Service Head, Noida.

                Hope the above will help.

Modern motorcycle cables (at least for the last 25 years), are not to be mucked around with. They are friction-free, which means they have an inner sleeve with boric powder, and adding any kind of additional lubricant to it will just make a sludge which will increase stickiness over time. If the bike's old, just change the cable. I usually change my cables on a yearly basis, but the rtr has awesome cables, still very smooth and free after 3 years.

Check your throttle grip assembly, there may be something there.

Also, since you mentioned routing, incorrect routing can lead to a cable snagging at certain points and when the handle is turned a certain way. Sorry, no pic.

                    • Apache 180 RTR is not compared with P180.
P180 UG-4 fitted with K&N Filter (i.e. 10-20% more performance) cannot match the performance of stock RTR180.
Guys compare your RTR180's but with a proper competitor...

+100. Once a mech routed the accelerator cable the wrong way and I had a very hard time - the free play was messed up, it lasted very less and the cable was rubbing on the wire leading to the horn and 'Auto Horn' feature came into effect

I had changed the cable 6 months ago, throttle grip assembly is perfect.Need to check the routing though.I have read in some forums, the modern throttle cables are teflon lined and there is no need to lube them. This time I am gonna mix boric powder to the lube.If it works then good,if not then will straightaway buy new cable.

The ABS is slightly of dull white compared to the non ABS (at least the first lot, which my bike belongs to). However, that should not make a striking difference in the tint and that's where the orange decals plays its part in adding to the optical illusion and making the color to appear duller. Just trying to explain, since I felt I have probably not explained it better in my earlier post.

Anyway, maintaining white as white is tough. No matter it rains or not. If it rains there is mud splatter all over, if not a lot of dust sits on it.

                              • its been 11 months and my bikes done 7500 kms the bike's a scorcher and ever ready to revv.performance and hadling combo is the BEST.i liked it better than the R15.
                                BUT
four problems i havent been able to solve:-

1.handle bar wobbling/shaking when you leave the handle bar at 56-64 kmh( what could be the reason???)

2.inconsistant mileage......even with very sane riding max 60 km/h shifting below 4k rpm once i got 45 kmpl and another time i got 35 kmpl.i repeat very sane riding i have got these figures..

3.some trrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound comes near the key after the bike crosses 4k rpm.and its not keychains fault.

4.vibrations only in the afternoons or when the weather is very hot starts at 35 km/h goes on and on irritating!!!. vibes even after 80 km/h. (cold weather its fine vibes are almost nil. only slight vibes at 60-70.)

guys if you could help me solve all these problems my bike will be perfect..please guys help get rid of these problems..
