    Thanks.
Engine braking is something that if done correctly wont harm the engine but its something that you stay away from because of the higher rate of ware and tear it produces on the gears, clutch, piston runs, chain and sprockets. If its an emergency situation say kaput brakes or to prevent wheel lockup on a sudden occasion to prevent accident then go ahead. But dobt make it a regular habit... engine braking is recommended during engine run in to help surfaces mate better since it produces higher wear... unnecessary on a properly mated/runn in engine and would infact be detrimental... again this is one of those controversial viking topics... I wouldn't recommend it as a regular habit...batring emergencies.... think about it... brake pads are cheaper to replace than an engine overhall
    Hope it helps

Yesterday I gave my bike (A 180 ABS) for washing + polish (Rs. 130). On return I felt something wrong with its brake. I haven't felt both brakes and I took the bike back to service center. What he told was, this is because of the 'polishing effect on disc' and it will soon back to normal after a drive.

I drove my bike for 50 kms and YES, the front disc now works as it was before. But.. something not right with the rear disc. . The rear disc is really terrible and i cannot stop the bike by applying the rear brake alone. I am not sure if this was the case before polishing and to be frank I never tried applying rear brake alone before.
My rear disc is not at all sensitive like front one and really have to press forcefully to stop the tyre.

As you're not sure if this was the case earlier, then get brake assembly opened, cleaned, BRAKE pads checked and replace if required, re assembled with copper grease, also do check the brake fluid of rear.

The rear disc is not supposed to be sensitive like the front brake and the rear brake is used only to stabilise the bike during braking, the main stopping power should come from the front brake. So the lack of braking power from rear disc as experienced by you may not be a major issue with the rear disc!
Anyway just as a precaution check the rear brake pads and brake fluid etc as suggested by Anuj_Gupta

Guys to all new prospective buyers please choose the abs option if you can... saved life..... had to panic brake today due to a dumbass driver.... abs white friends bike.... rear wheel came up once and then went back down..front brake kept feeling like it was pulsing....rear couldn't feel but the rear wheel also locked up once before it softened out.... all on euroslips.... the front brake lever got bent inwards! And brakes felt faded for a few minutes.... after a few mins stop felt fine.... why the lockup why the bent front lever why the rear wheel lifting a little and why the faded brakes? I have very weak knowledge on this abs tech and brakes.. any headsup?

The ABS kicks in only when the wheel seems to lockup ! when it does the ABS module acts and removes the lock , the pulses denote the ABS working.Rear wheel too shows the pulses but its hard to notice that . Regarding the rear wheel coming up ! The RTR comes with RLP(rear wheel lift protection), you would have felt it so but the rear never lifts up , i tried many times to achieve this , never lifted up. Front lever bent in :O, dude ur powerful :P just kidding The RTR ABS brakes normally feel spongy and you can press the front brake until the handlebar too , What do you mean by the faded brakes ??? Better tyres show lesser pulses, on stock tyre the tyre skids a little and rear wobbles if brakes applied intensively before the ABS kicks in ! swap to a zapper and this won't happen .

Interesting discussion on brakes going on here.. I'v noticed a few thing regarding brakes:-
                1. The front brakes feel a bit more spongy when the brakes are washed or during rain (parked in rain). The spongyness is lost by using the brakes a few times.
                2. The rear brakes suddenly loses its pressure & the lever has more free play. The brakes come back to normal after "pumping the brakes" a few times..
I have noticed these characteristics/issues on my bike after rains/wash.
A word of caution, just apply the brakes at low speed to check them before you take-off..

I think your brakes need bleeding.... and a change of brake oil....

Brakes seemed like they were not grabbing as much as they used to after this incident but they went back to normal after a while...hence faded... and yes the brake lever got bent inwards.... guess I grabbed it to hard with all my 6ft plus frame they are not spongy.... he replaced the lever if I can il gt a pic is the lever that weak? I have broken a bullets clutch lever, my pulsar clutch lever etc.... I used to think its the weak quality now im having diffrent thoughts... its my fault

The role of the ABS is to detect the wheel slip fractions of a second before the wheel start slipping or locking .So the role that ABS plays is actually limiting the braking force by the rider which exerts by either squeezing the lever or pressing the foot pedal and keep the wheel spinning. Once the imminence of the locking is avoided, the system re-applies the maximum braking force until the next skid is anticipated.

Never had lever bending issues until now , my clutch lever got bent outwards on an accident, but did not break .

The TPS replacement SIB is to be executed in a short time ..

Another good news is that the SVC told that there are some more changes being done to make our beast better than before..

For new vehicles they do it free of charge.

TPS replacement will be done sooner. I will definitely tell the performance difference once I get it replaced.

Heard that the tps is much more responsive than the previous one.

This sunday changed the front disc plate along with new brake pads. The brakes now feels good with progressive braking.
                                The charges are as follows:
                                DISC PLATE: Rs 943.11
                                FRONT BRAKE PAD: Rs 236.44
Front disc pad change: Rs 90
                                Disc plate fitting: Rs 90

Asked the service advisor about the gear lever replacement his reply was negative, on further enquiry he asked his manager & the manager said the same thing so no gear lever replacement for Pune guys.
