AFR(AirFuelRatio) not set properly.
Hope u know how to do the above things .
If not read on net n do it if its a big problem to go to kerala .
Do these two things , it will be fine unless you got some big problem .Hope is a good thing ,

A few things you can try:
1) before switching the ignition on give a couple of free kicks and then start the bike
2) Let the bike idle for at least 20 seconds before you start off. If the climate is colder it needs a little more time and possibly the use of choke
Also, if the file mixture is set very lean for mileage then you might need to set it to a more appropriate mixture.
Many times even the idling is set much lower than needed. WHen cold, the engine needs momentum to warm up and not stall - if that is lower than 1300 RPM when hot then get it set right.

I too had this jerking problem, but after a few weeks it eventually settled down. My idling is kinda weird, during day time after an hour of riding it shows 2000rpm, but at night when I come back home it shows 1300rpm with the lights on. I don't use the kick starter, it's too hard! For morning starts, I don't use the choke, I just push the starter with just a wee bit of throttle and hold it at 1100 to 1400rpm for about a minute, after that it's time to ride! Never had the engine suddenly shut down while riding till now. I may be starting the bike the wrong way, but it has worked well till now. Bike is 16 days old with odo at 4844kms.

Had a query. One of my biker friend and a fellow xbhpian told me that now that my bike has completed 300km, i should be ripping it once or twice everyday to develop the power band. He says that if i dont give the occassional speed bursts, my bike's power band will be affected and it wont give ideal performance after the running in. And he also says that i should start doing engine breaking now.
But im a little scared to do that because the manual says to keep the speeds below 50 for the first 1000km and im getting a low mileage of 35kmpl now.
So im not sure what to do. My bike has completed 480km and should be going for the first service in one or two days.
What do you guys suggest? Should i rip my bike once or twice everyday to get better performance? Or will that affect the mileage in the long run? And should i be doing engine braking as of now?Last edited by theguitarfreak; 12-25-2009, 12:43 AM.You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

lend the last surviving ear to what the nonsense your friend told you, develop a powerbandOriginally posted by theguitarfreak View Post, i should be ripping it once or twice everyday to develop the power band. , what a crap!!!!!!!
keep the RPM varying in everygear and now your bike has completed 480kms you can take it to 5000RPM but dont cross it till 1000kms..
the RTR will touch 72kmph at 5000RPM so you can safely take it to that speed, the running in is always done at the RPM's not the speeds.
RTR180 will be giving you avg of about 38-45 with slightly rich mixture which is infact very good.
that's not for the indian bikes.Originally posted by lijok View Post@theguitarfreak - you should read the article about Motoman break in method. Yeah, except for the 'oil-change' thing the indian traffic conditions help in almost replicating the engine straining procedures prescribed by motoman!!Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postthat's not for the indian bikes.

Got my bike serviced at 544km. Changed to Motul 3000 4T. Had a question.
@rennycornelius: you said that rtr doesnt need chain lube as it is o-ring type and the rings are pre lubed. Then why has TVS and Motul come out with O-ring chain lube products? You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.
