Problem description- when i accelerate i dont feel smooth pickup , but i get hiccups..also when i ride on a constant speed (no acceleration) , say 20 or 30, or 40kms/hr i get those hiccups..also if i am riding on a very high speed 100kms/hr and i close the throttle quickly i get a sound like (bob bob bob)...this sound is very annoying..

    please help me mate..
New model rtr 180 does not have TPS as separate unit it is inbuilt in TCI so no chance of adjustment, you will have to get the TCI replaced i too faced the similar problem and even got carburetor replaced under warranty but the culprit was TCI and after its replacement there is no problem since then

Check your AFR first. An easy way to do this is to remove your spark plug, and check its color. It should be brownish. Post a picture if possible.

Guys, in case of a too bouncy rear shocks my local mech says the gas cartridge has run its course. He suggests either topping it up or replacing the rear shocks set. Which one would you suggest and how cost effective is refilling the cartridge? Any advice is welcome.

Shocks cost ₹ 1650 each. Not sure about refilling cost.

Refilling is nothing but waste of money & time as I myself have experienced it,my advice would be either go for new shocks if vitamin m permits or go for the orginal old version shocks(without gas canister) from some scrap shops & just check for any signs of reconditioning.

+1 for new shocks, Hero Xtreme shocks cost 2.1K each , so you are getting a better deal here. Also it is possible to refill gas suspension but i highly doubt if even svc are capable of doing it , let alone other standalone shops.

Vitamin M is the problem here. I might need to get my ABS sensors replaced as it's not working anymore. That will cost me above ₹ 3K. So if there is any chance that I can push this for another two years with filling I am prepared to do that. But from your comment it seems that the cost-effectiveness part we can forget about. Also I have had bad past with chop shop parts.

I have to ask the SVC guys if they can do it. If they cannot and asks me to replace them I will have to forget about ABS for sometime because these shocks are killing me and any pillion who rides with me.

I didnt do the ac - dc conversion. It ate up all the battery after 2years of usage.

I went down on my bums yesterday when the rear shocks helped the tires slide. I have been feeling the tires slide out of the line for far too long that I didn't think it will give up and make me a show piece on the road. Anyways, nothing much happened to me. The bike suffered a bent gear shift lever, bend head unit assembly clamp and some minor scratches on the left indicator.

So, I went to the SVC today and got both rear shocks replaced, along with the gear-shift lever, two mirrors, head-unit clamps etc etc. Bike doing pretty well and gear shifts are oddly smooth. I don't feel I am shifting gears anymore and it's very dissatisfying now to not feel the tick. Filled oil in front shocks too. And I had to re-adjust the throttle response cable as they set it to lag.

Had to part with INR 6K and still all the issues are not fixed. The SVC doesn't have rider foot pegs in stock. They could not fix the speedometer because they could not fix the ABS because they don't have ABS sensors in stock. I am calculating speed by looking at RPM meter.

And, rear shocks cost INR 1462.88 each, excluding VAT.
