  • why do i see ppl blaming their engine oil for the drop in its level when actually, its their engine who's to be blamed..

    would someone please explain...

    Comment

    • No ones blaming the oil. Someone said the level drop could be because of first using mineral and then switching to fully synth. So i thought i'd give semi synth a try. And to be honest i haven't noticed any difference after switching to synth. Besides the usual synth i use is just too expensive especially when the level is dropping. the dealer said 330 was an introductory price, once it became popular, they bumped it up by a 100 bucks! Aah, i remember when good old activ was a 100 bucks a litre ...

The rings don't really bother me coz it's a very minor symptom of oil level dropping. Otherwise the bikes running like a dream.
NINJA seems to be perfect to me, but tad overpriced for 250CC....

Same here, even no "more" smooth shifts, they're just the same.

Are you sure that your bike does 70 kmph at 5k rpm as you had mentioned in the comments section of your video? I checked yesterday and noticed that mine does 67 at the same. How much tyre pressure do you run on?

It does somewhere around 68-69km/hr. And also i have seen this thing varying. At some points even i have seen 67km/hr.At 6k rpm i think it's 81-82km/hr.Don't know the reason exactly.Do winds play role in bumping up the speeds thru gears while riding with their direction?

              Rear tyre pressure:32psi Front:22 psi

PS:Will check again and let you know.

That was the case even on RTR160.
@Chicane : Remember, there was a long discussion here on X around a couple of years back on this. Mine used to do 65kph at 5k RPM whereas people claimed nearing the 70kph mark at the same RPM

For RTR160 the recommended pressure for front is 25psi...Is it less for the 180 or you intentionally maintain that? Any specific reason?

Yes we have kept it lower so as to get more feedback from the front.

                  • I keep 32 PSI at the rear and 27 PSI at the front. It tends to give a comfortable ride over bad roads.

                    • To get more grip out of the TVS tires i've tried 22 for the rear and 15 for the front...
The tire grips good at those pressure but the bike feels very heavy, and it drops the acceleration and efficiency too....

I'am running 30 for the rear and 25 for front.

Bump the front tire pressure to 28-30, you'll get 70 on the speedo at 5000.

Bump the front tire pressure to 28-30, you'll get 70 on the speedo at 5000.
-ve. Riding at lower pressure in front will give higher speedo reading than riding at higher pressure.
In my case, with stock tires, it used to do 50kmph at 4k now, with same profile front and 100/90-18 Geo at rear, it is 53-54 at 4k.

Mine fluctuates by 1-2 kmph as the pressure rises and drops.

                              • Unicorn Dazzler with 110/80-17" tyres

Sorry if this has been brought up before ...

Was reading about the Honda Unicorn Dazzler in the June '10 issue of Bike India and it says it comes with a 110/0-17" tubeless tyres and from the M I see in one of the pictures they probably are MRF .. I guess us RTR180ers now would have atleast one option in the same size and profile other than the TVS ones.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
