In Minerals, Castrol Active 4T and Gulf Pride 4T are good options to choose from.But i would say go for Elf Moto4 Gold.Superb mineral oil.

Hehe, 330 is the old stock price, i had bought twice earlier at that price before they upped it to 440.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostWHAT!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought the sprinta for 330 BUCKS!!!!
The level is all fine after doin 1300kms on it..
i'all change it after 1700 kms..(tatal 3000kms i'am gonna strech it then i'll switch to m=MOTUL semi synth as i've found the dealer in INDORE)
POWER 1 is very good till 2000kms almost new like.
MOTUL semi synth is best.
go for these two.
Keep a close look at the level man. I might have fukked up my bore due to hard running, maybe that's why my level keeps dropping. My mileage also seems less. No smoke or anything though.
Funny, my boxer used to drop oil level too, but i used to run the poor thing full locked throttle 90+ most of the time! No smoke there too.
I've heard too many mixed reports about power1. besides castrol is the most faked brand so better stay away.
my dealer had motul fully synth but not semi, he had yamalube though. funny how the market works!
cmon man, the racing dept. approves tvs tyres for us folks and themselves use zappers? i think they don't like losing races to regular ownersOriginally posted by chicane1879 View PostTVS Racing dept (not TVS) approves the tyres, for RTR that is. Beat that!! :P
Why dont you try the Zapper(the one from ZMA).Couldnt remember the model number.
the zapper-y? i've narrowed down to the Q which looks much cooler with a better tread pattern or the geo if i cant get the q.
did some research on the zapper-fx 100/80-17" of the FZ front. 80mm will mean the front is dropped by 10mm. plus the wider contact patch will mean slower turning. confused now between this and the 90/90 fs. it's a prob when we don't have options and then also when we have too many choices!Last edited by julianpaul; 06-09-2010, 03:20 PM.

Zapper FS ala P220/P180 tyre would be the ideal choice to upgrade in case of the RTR for the front.
And i think you are confused regarding the technical specifications of a tyre. In 100/80-17 rating the number '80' denotes the aspect ratio i.e the percentage of the tyre width. So in 100/80 the aspect ratio or the height of the tyre is 80mm(80/100*100) and our stock RTRs come with 90/90 rating which means the height is 81mm. Not much of a difference, though!!
And +1 to the Castrol thing!!

I got it almost 5 months back, and yes the OIL was 11 months old.Originally posted by julianpaul View PostHehe, 330 is the old stock price, i had bought twice earlier at that price before they upped it to 440.
There's another guy who reported of level drop with the PETRONAS(Mr. SARAVJIT), i dont think your bore is gone, but then what could be drinking the oil then????Originally posted by julianpaul View PostKeep a close look at the level man. Fried piston rings will give out smoke, i fukked my FIERO pretty hard too so much to the extent that it's exhaust pipe went deep bluish and reddish, it used to look fab
, but it never belted out smoke but i was careful with the oil and used to change semi synth at every 2000kms.
CASTROL has this fake thing problem, YAMALUBE is MOTUL get that SEMI synth, it's the same.

SWAGAT you seem to be in love with TVS tires....

FZ's tire will be the best upgrade, it'll give slightly heavy steering at traffic speed and slight speedo error due to that 10mm diff.Originally posted by julianpaul View Postdid some research on the zapper-fx 100/80-17" of the FZ front. 80mm will mean the front is dropped by 10mm. plus the wider contact patch will mean slower turning. confused now between this and the 90/90 fs. it's a prob when we don't have options and then also when we have too many choices!
But it looks just fab, will add digits to the leaning angle too.

@julianpaul:
I would also like to recommend you the Zapper FS which is the stock size of the RTR. I had faced issues when i upsized and downsized and regretted my decision and hence came back to the stock sizes. Better use the sizes that the chassis is designed on especially when you are getting it.You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

Dammit! Ok this proves that there's too much tyre talk goin on!Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostAnd i think you are confused regarding the technical specifications of a tyre. I know the calculation man, but for some reason i was calculating the front as 90mm profile. This is what happens when you're juggling 3 brands & 15 models in your head WHILE arguing with your buddies about who makes the best tyres!
I have no idea, even my mech didn't know with my boxer, he kinda had a worried face when i said i do palm beach end to end at ~90kmph, and said yeah, then it will probably drink oil!Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostThere's another guy who reported of level drop with the PETRONAS(Mr. SARAVJIT), i dont think your bore is gone, but then what could be drinking the oil then????

@julian.
The 90/90 FS is what comes stock on P220 right? go for it man. its an awesome option. running it on my fi ... the petal and tyre go hand in hand.
the funny part is the rear tyre is still the original TVS crap, and the difference between the two tyres was roughly around 1.5k kms. Now that the bike has run 6.5k kms, the rear tyre looks a lot more worn off than the front zapper.
soft compound anyone??!
cheers!

Allright mateys, it's going to be the FS! This was the easy part, i hope the dealer gets the 90/90 or 100/90 Q soon.Originally posted by sai_ace View PostThe 90/90 FS is what comes stock on P220 right? go for it man. its an awesome option. running it on my fi ... the petal and tyre go hand in hand.

One more thing, the FS looks skinny compared to the stock front which looks bigger than any front tyre i've seen, but is the difference only visual or does it like turn faster etc?
Btw, the dealer mentioned an 80/100-17" FS, after some research i found it's the stunner's front tyre. Tubeless.
Update on oil level drop
Just spoke to my old(er) mech. Specialises in RDs and Bulls. Anyways, he says oil drinking is either the valve oil seals or the piston rings. If it's the rings, i'll have em changed when i decarb, maybe at 25k. He also said it might be a very slow kind of leak so it may not show as smoke even when revving hard.
Update 2 on oil
Asked a friend to pick up shell advance vsx for 300 bucks. the dealer didnt have too many options in semi synth. Motul 5100 semi was 450 bucks! costs more than sprinta fully synth so didn't bother. Hope i manage to do the service tomorrow atleast. Might change the front tyre tomorrow too.Last edited by julianpaul; 06-09-2010, 07:55 PM.

I am not a TVS Tyre lover or hater either.I am used to those tyres. I have over 70000 kms of experience on TVS Tyres only on different bikes.Till now no reason, to absolutely hate them and write them off completely. And i have done every possible damn thing one normally does with a bike. See the Victor's stoppie pic? Done on a 35k kms old 'almost' bald TVS tyre.
@Julian
Yes, leaking piston rings are always the culprit behind loss of engine oil.But then,you can check it by checking the outlet of the exhaust(silencer) with your finger.There should be deposits of 'extra' black soot. Even if the smoke are not visible while riding , you will get to know if it's really leaking or not that way.

Yeah, i'm usually full throttling all the time. I outgrow my bikes too soon. Which is why i say a 400 should be perfect for cities.
The rings don't really bother me coz it's a very minor symptom of oil level dropping. Otherwise the bikes running like a dream.
pics would be a prob, don't have a cam. i'll try and get my cuz to snap a few maybe.
