@chicane I think this is just turning into an argument based on personal opinion so let's call it off eh? But you can't argue that some tyres are better than others. And MRFs etc provide an acceptable level of grip for the kind of performance the rtr provides. And you can deduce from my example of the friend with the p180 that pirelli/michelins will take that even higher. Btw i hope you are not referring to this tyre. This is one of the best tyres ever from TVS.And i hate them for discontinuing it.It was scrapped off because it had low running life.Gripped like leech both in dry and wet.Thousand times better than the ones found in the RTR.The rear tyre lasted for ~20k kms only

Hmm, that could be it, sure looks like it. Based on AJD's recco, i went all the way to bombay which is over an hour's commute away, brought the damn tyres home in a train, then took them by bus to the svc, about another hour's commute, where my boxer was getting fixed for some accident damage. They were ok at first, later i dunno what happened, maybe they got hard due to sun exposure and grip levels dropped. Regardless, i never run my tyres till the tread wears out completely, right now my rtr front is the most i've ever worn a tyre before changing. Anyway, after my crash on the ATTs, i changed to a mrf/dunlop combo and the grip was phenomenal. My boxer was gripping like never before, even more than the ATTs when new. That's when i became a TVS tyre hater.

How much truth is there about converting a regular tire into a tubeless one by the tire guy here in INDORE when he told me that remove the tube, i'll put a sealent around the walls of the alloys (though he said that's also not needed) and fill the tire and WHOA!!!! it's a tubeless one.Last edited by rennycornelius; 06-07-2010, 11:07 PM.The Magician"

speaking of tyres good ones do make a difference . my friend put michelin and i have pirelli sd at rear and they make a big difference over stock rtr 160 tyres . in rains they rock ! and i can actually ride hard while on stock tvs rubbers bike was always uneasy while braking and leaning . but i think the rtr 180 tyres are better than 160's .

Sorry to bring up the tyre topic again. But i finally got the IRC tyre in 110/80 17"


I was desperate to go back to the stock size as the chassis was specifically designed for it but could not go back to TVS tyres. So i had only two options. One was the newly launched MRF Zapper C that is coming with the Unicorn Dazzler and the other was this IRC tyre which is hard to find. I knew the MRF tyre wouldnt be available in the market so fast and Zapper C isnt that great of a tyre. So i tried for the second option and luckily got my hands on it. I need to ride it extensively to post any review but in the little that i rode with the tyre, i could make out it was a very very sticky tyre inspiring lot of confidence on corners. Will post more on it soon.You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.
