Please help friends because he has to decide ASAPOriginally posted by gaurav_gaumzy View Posthi friends i am posting this query on behalf my friend.
his mind is very much inclined towards apache among all the bikes present in the market at the moment.
but his confusion is to select which one i.e he is confused between 160,160fi and 180.?
he is a daily commuter and will use the bike daily for minimum 70-75kms and even more. among which 25-30 kms will be highway.
as u all own this bike and know about its relaiability and milage and maintenence etc etc please provide an input by suggesting which one to go for.. and please if possible kindly let me know the pros and cons of all the 3 models and also the milage.
thanks in advance

In general, throttle response/acceleration, petal discs(braking), rear set foot pegs, clip ons, weight(~136/7 kgs), console, LEDs, leaf shaped RVM, power, handling, grunt-exhaust note, VFM, maintenance is cheaper than Honda, Yamaha any day, spare parts are cheaper than HH, Honda, Yamaha:make the RTRs great!Originally posted by gaurav_gaumzy View Posthi friends i am posting this query on behalf my friend.

RTR 180 is better compared to 160 and 160 FI in all departments.
RTR 180- Pros: Stability, top speed, looks, styling, lesser vibrations(comparatively), no rev limiter, better power to weight ratio, wider clip ons(comfortable), stroke is longer comparatively-good for highway cruising, wider tyres, better stance, 0-100-0(Acceleration and braking): fastest, road presence.
Mileage depends on the running in period and how smooth the rider can be later on. I get 47-50kms when ridden smooth(RTR 180).
Ask your friend to test ride all three and decide.
If I have left anything, others please add on!

+1 to Makky's post. You can also wider+tubeless tyres to the list.Originally posted by gaurav_gaumzy View PostPlease help friends because he has to decide ASAP
RTR 180 provides maximum value for the money spent. If he is fine with the extra premium over other bikes, then it is the bike to go for. Mileage difference will be 5-7kms approx between 160 carb and the 180. Fi returns best mileage, though!!

- tubeless slightly better tyres
- 17" tyre which means at least you can have good options from R15 tyres or new Dazzler's
- power to weight ration is great
- stability has increased a bit as it has longer wheel base than RTR160/FI

Fuel efficiency:Originally posted by gaurav_gaumzy View PostPlease help friends because he has to decide ASAP
RTR 180: 42-43
RTR 160: 45-46
RTR 160 fi: 49-50
(i have achieved 58kmpl on my RTR, but riding in 50-60kmph is real pain on RTR. you distract your eye from speedo and you will start doing 95-100)
Performance:
RTR 180: top notch
RTR 160: Little low than 180
RTR 160 fi: same to RTR carb but fabulous exaust note
Pricing:
RTR 180 and 160Fi: Nearly same
RTR 160: 7-8k cheaper than 180 & 160 Fi
RTR 160 rear disc: around 2k more than RTR160 carb
Differances of 180 above 160 carb:
Heavier end weights on handle bar
Longer swing arm and little different sring rate
17" rear wheel instead of 18" and 110/80 tire instead of 100/80
Different Mudguard and color scheme
Larger dia exhaust
Little different SAI to meet emission norms
BS-29 carb insterad of BS-26
Little different Saree guard
Blue back lit console
Standard rear Disc
Differances of 160fi above 160carb:
Fuel injection instead of carburator
Standard rear Disc
Different sticker job
Blue back lit console
@all: add if anything remainsThere's lot to it other than saddle....

I have mentioned it, Chicane!! However, I missed out tubeless!
Yeah, FI gives better mileage but it is costlier than RTR 180.
So, the best bet?
RTR 180 all the way!!

Might be due to the presence of air-bubbles inside the brake lines. Bleeding of the brake should bring back their optimal performance.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostMy front brake has lost the kind of smooth feel its used to have in the beginning. Its hard and locks up pretty quick. There is no more the progressive feel to it. Do i need to flush the brake fluids?

I dont think the mechanics will understand the term bleeding will they? And should i replace it with DOT4?Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostMight be due to the presence of air-bubbles inside the brake lines. Yes it will.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostCan anyone tell me if the 44T rear sprocket of the RTR160 will be a direct fit for the RTR180?
If you didnt stood on the head of the SC guy then he fooled you by saying he cleaned the carb, they NEVER clean the carb and tell you that they have cleaned it.Originally posted by jasonkumar View Postmy bike still has hiccups problem even after cleaning the carb (cleaning the jets) ... i dont know what to do ..... the bike is very sluggish the pick up is not constant ......................... i have visited the svc several times, the issues gets fixed for about 2 days and they it comes up againg.... Felling like selling my bike and buying a new
Go to the SC again and get it cleaned in front of you, cuz the prob you're reporting will be solved instantly by cleaning the small jet along with the sir filter.
Lean mixture, coupled with no choke start will make the bike behave like this till it's warmed up.Originally posted by thmh201 View Postguys my new rtr180 has some problems...whenever i take out my bike in the morning it runs for 100 mtrs and then stops...then i need to wait for 30 secs and then it starts!...any clues?
plus that eargasmic exhaust note, plus high RPM rush plus the addective "redline chasing nature".Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostRTR 180 provides maximum value for the money spent. If he is fine with the extra premium over other bikes, then it is the bike to go for. Just one thing though:
the FI can give you as high as 65-70kmpl if ridden sanely below 4500RPM but it drops to 30-35 if ridden hard.
OVERall it gives me 45-50 kmpl.
They know the term bleeding and are generally good at it.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostI dont think the mechanics will understand the term bleeding will they? And should i replace it with DOT4?
Replace it with DOT 4 after floushing both front and rear, it has high boiling temp.Last edited by rennycornelius; 06-05-2010, 04:19 PM.The Magician"

friends i want to say somthing on tyres
few days back i went for rode trip of 200km to my village
day when i was planing to come back suddenly heavy rain started
i was feared about tyres will they perform well or not ,have readed so many tyre feedbacks on xbhp i was scared ,but i start my trip .
i was wonder tyre was working so good as they work on dry roads
i ride 45km in rain and other 50 km on wet road got top speed of 116,take sharp leans, overtakes, and also have to apply sudden brake sometimes tyre never skids
i was pleased by their performence
but disk has lost some bite in wet
guys i think the tyre is not so bad that we think of it ,its the mistakes of braking for tyre skid if you master on both brakes the tyres will never outperform
i have asked all the bike owner of bikes like r15 ,p220,p180,ninja, they all said
some times their tyre also skids thats the problem of powerfull disks these bike have and new users dose not know how to use them perfectly the disk dose their work so well that they lock the weel so tight any tyre of any company can skid, dont blame the tyresLast edited by abhishekch; 06-05-2010, 07:46 PM..................................................

Doing speeds of 100kmph or even 70-80kmph on wet roads is putting your life into danger. No matter how good are your tyres\safety features or your riding skills, you should never play with your life. I donot even do 50kmph on wet roads, no matter what the situation demands from me. Ride safe.
