Did ur manual says that it is a water cooled engineOriginally posted by Garry_Menace View PostSadly, I have to quote up my own post. Will someone respond to it guys?
,never do that buddy u will harm ur engine, itz simple physics as there is a sudden change in the temperature of a metal,it tends to crack

Oh! I never knew that Water-cooled Engine means splashing some water externally onto the engineOriginally posted by vishnups17 View PostDid ur manual says that it is a water cooled engine

Anyways, thats the basic thing even a kid can presume... thats why I mentioned doing that "AFTER 10 minutes break"(to let the engine get its temperature a bit lower). Just wanted to know that does the engine gets cooled enough to do that after 10 minutes break?

Performance Drop
Hello
All
ODO: 12806.5
OIL : Castrol Power1 15w40 (read in our pages one of the best oil for RTR 180)
Harsh Riding,
too much Vibs
Normal Observation RPM 4000 = Speed 54 km right
Mine RPM 4000 = Speed 51 km NOT GOOD
Problem facing & observing for 150+ km
Pickup Gone,
Reaching 100kmph speed : too much time taking then Normal RTR 180 & Vibes then b4
Overall Very Harsh Ride
carb Never Opened Never Cleaned
setting Factory never touched
Rest Perfect Servicing timing and oil intervals
everything did perfectly (i mean run-in & all)
Everything great
Wat to do some stupid Service Guys Saying Put That new 15w30 or some 10w30 oil
it gives u smooth riding
What to do?
Help Me
is it oil? or carb? or something else if yes then what will be?
waiting for reply
Ride Safe

Something is wrong with bike these days..The engine feels harsh, noise from fairing..Tak-tak sound when I bump onto potholes..Service guys says has to do with bearings and all..
One thing they are in-efficient at finding out is the loss in performance..Bike feels sluggish and revs do not climb as freely as they used to have before..May be it's running lean..No one at service is able to fix these problems..
Met another RTR180 owner who was totally pissed off at TVS service centers. He has tried almost 6 different service centers and says all are the same..Complains that the bike now feels like some 4 year old bike..Asked me to have a short test-ride on his bike,I did.A long one, indeed.
..Felt there were a sea of difference between his and mine..Even though the guy was mad at TVS,his bike was brilliant compared to mine..Vibrations were near nil,it was way too refined..Clutch-play was astonishing and the gear-shifts were butter smooth..That bike 'felt' eager as a P220..
If he's mad at TVS for all this,I should have sued TVS months before..They really have f****d my bike...It is a wonderful bike ruined !

If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Engine oil recommended: Power1 or petronas sprinta (Mineral oils like Tru4 become mineral water
after 600 kms on warm engine and fail to seal the piston bore clearance)
Spark plug change interval: 3-4k
Carb setting: slightly rich (SVC fellas will always set it lean)
Valve tappet clearance:
Intake 0.06 and Exhaust 0.08 for higher highway use
Intake 0.07 and Exhaust 0.09 for higher city use(minute tappet noice)
Intake 0.08 and Exhaust 0.1 for signal races(tappets will scream)
if the SVC fella do not have tightened the tappet lock nut properly, clearance will decrease and bike will fall on face in top end, which is clearly felt in 5th gear.
tappet setting must be done by using gauge strips only. SVC fellas think it takes more time and set it by judgement.
Lean mix will result in more vibrations and excessive engine heatup, which kills the engine. Plus if you are running mineral oil and lower tappet clerances, that will add more masala to performance drop and RTR will perform like spledour/passion.
There's lot to it other than saddle....

But, how the hell are we people going to get that done on our bike as the SVC guys don't do that for us?Originally posted by nox2505 View PostCarb setting: slightly rich (SVC fellas will always set it lean)
